We've been referred to as a "dream client" when it comes to credit, as we have no loans, no credit cards, no bad history etc. It should all be really simple.

In the early stages I sent everything they asked for including my passport, drivers' license, pay slips, bank statements etc. etc. etc. They assured me after all this that they needed nothing further from me. A month in, they spring on me that they need to Zoom meeting me and take photos of me holding my ID up? (In the middle of one of my busy working days) Surely that is something we could have done when I was providing the rest of the information? I'm just not sure why that was left till now of all things, to prove who I am. It seems strange to me if this indeed Loan Gallery's procedure, to discuss so much with me before even verifying who I am. I would have thought identifying me should be somewhere in step 1? Maybe I'm wrong.

I have tried on multiple occasions to express that we want to put forward $100,000 FIRST into the build, before taking any money from the bank. I have also tried to insist on multiple occasions that we do use this $100,000 of our own money and not loan the entire amount. This will still leave us with plenty of spare cash to deal with any other unforeseen costs. It seems though, each time we speak they keep adjusting that so that we are contributing less of our own money and lending more. I understand, the more we loan, the better for the bank and the loan gallery, however, not better for us. I feel as though they've not been listening when it comes to this. Even with our last conversation on my way to work, one of the first things they mentioned was they had a couple of options there again where we only contribute was it 50K or 80k? I feel like I have to push back constantly to be heard.

Just a bit of feedback also. I'm not sure if it's policy or standard procedure, but the whole "if we pay the loan out within 2 years, you lose money" thing, was really off-putting. Whilst I do understand how that works and why the banks do that, I fail to understand how "informing" your client how this impacts your own financial circumstances has anything to do with providing professional advice/products/services. If anything it made me feel really guilty, like I shouldn't be wasting your time, as you won't make enough money from us.

A really bad experience in the end. We kept getting pushed to loan more money and not use our own. Our needs were NOT BEING HEARD. And to top it off, we were made to feel bad for not wanting to keep the loan for 2 whole years, so the agent could make the most possible money off us.

NEVER AGAIN.

about this bank the process time is 3 4 weeks and the customer service is not as good as ANZ, you may get more money but you don’t get the same service. So I decided to go with ANZ, the issue started last Friday when I found out bank of Melbourne increase my interest rate to 8.54, so I visited the bank and they explained why this happened. Then the bank asked me for reason to leave, I said I am getting better rate and 2000 cash back with ANZ bank replied, then the guy in home loan section said you know you don’t get the cash back right away and also for last few days you were in 8.54 you are actually losing money. They suggested me to talk to my broker and see if I can stay with bank of Melbourne. Also, they told me 3 times in 3 different branches why your broker hasn’t pushed the settlement date forward so you pay less money?!

I called Georgy, at first he said, don’t worry you can stay and you don’t need to pay me anything if you want to stay with BOM. Few minute later, he called me and for almost half an hour was keep saying the bank is lying to you about many things and they want to create an environment so to keep you and I have worked a lot of hours on this piece and you tell me who works for free, the settlement date comes from ANZ and I did everything I could and bunch of other bullshits and lies.

The next day (Saturdays 13th of November) he called me three times, one time he told me he is happy to give me 500 dollars from his commission as I am losing money in this process. Then he called me back and he said its best for you to stay and don’t worry about me as I couldn’t sleep for three days for your issue?! I was just thinking how on earth he didn’t sleep for three days as I only informed him yesterday. When I asked him can you push forward the settlement day which I asked him many many times before, he always keep saying no I cant but If you want I can try, then he said ANZ will give you the cash back in 24-48 hours. Long story short, I called ANZ Monday morning (13th of November) and I told them can you change the settlement day, and the lady in anz asked me ok, which date you want to settle I told her today. She called me 30 minute later and told me all good the settlement will happen today, and she told me you won’t get cash back right away.

I have been through hell for past few days, I lost more than gaining anything out of the refinancing, but what I learnt was you should do your own refinancing and don’t trust the broker and they are pretty useless, selfish with no knowledge. I still remember what bank of Melbourne home loan specialist told me that why are you coming to bank for these requests, your broker should do all these for you, he is getting paid well and he should push forward the settlement and negotiate rate for you. So, if you want someone to rob money out of you and at the end you need to do all of his job definitely call Abinhav Jain known as Georgy, highly recommended. I am sure they will respond with bunch of more lies as they did over the phone!
