Dr Amy at Core Dental Berwick is just excellent, if you want to see someone who is thorough and has empathy then she's the dentist for you. She really takes the time to make sure everything is discussed in detail. Her treatment room is quite cool but her assistants usually offer a soft warm blanket. Never take your child there – Two weeks ago, my daughter (6y) started complaining from a tooth ache. We went to Core Dental Caroline Springs, and a general dentist saw her and had trouble getting an xray for her because my daughter was gagging every time the dentist tried to fit that thing that she should bite on. whom will have better techniques with children and can use a laughing gas to calm the child. The first available appointment was after two weeks, so we had to wait and use pain killers until the appointment date comes... Which was today... And boy, how terrible today went!

We've come to our appointment, and the Pediatric Dentist (lady) tried to do the exact same process the previous dentist tried.. Again, the child gags.. Now, I'm waiting to see how she will handle things differently to calm the child.. Instead, she simply turned to us and started telling us that with the number of holes she can observe in the child teeth (no xray yet), she suggests she does an operation at the hospital under general anaesthesia, to be done with all the fillings once and for all... While we understand the benefit, we expressed our concern from having to put the child under general anaesthesia. The doctor replied saying, "this is Australia, it's not like your home country, general anaesthesia for children is very safe here" … and she continued, "I can give you the contacts of the Anaesthesiologist and you can ask him any stupid questions you might have".. I was really caught off guard with such horrendous choice of words!!.. What do we have here? A racist person? Or simply someone that is just horrible in communication? And if it's the latter, how could that be the "Paediatric Dentist" whom is supposed to be most gentle to be able to deal with scared children? … Anyways, I dismissed those thoughts, and moved on asking her, "what about the laughing gas that we were told about from the previous doctor and we waited two weeks for?"... She answered that one session of laughing gas can cost $250 and she thought it will not suit us from a "financial perspective" and if we will do multiple sessions, it can end up being more expensive than the hospital operation, and hence, she didn't plan a laughing gas session for us.... Here again, I couldn't understand, how did she decide on her own that we wouldn't afford the laughing gas?, and decided to dismiss it on her own and wasted today's session without any treatment to the child!! … We tried to argue that it would have been worth it to try the laughing gas today. She answered: "in addition to the the financial aspects of the laughing gas, the child can still gag on the laughing gas, and hence, if the child gagged while on the gas, I might cut her lips and the child would be taken immediately to the emergency!!" she said that loudly in front of the child, causing her to shrink in her seat in fear crying and asking to go home! .... way to go, paediatric doctor!

This was an insulting, and demeaning experience. and we are never going back with our child, or recommending Core Dental Caroline Springs for anyone seeking a paediatric doctor, and we will inform everyone we know with that experience.

needed given my child had X-rays at the prior visit 6 months ago. Since I said no to this not feeling at this time if it was very necessary given the price and that it won’t show anything the X-rays haven’t already she seemed annoyed. Seeing my child was very anxious she wasn’t warm to her, being cold and quite intimidating when asking her why she doesn’t brush her teeth more than once a day. Than I had to actually ask her to do the standard clean of my child’s teeth which I found odd given that was one of the reasons we were there. My child wasn’t talked through the clean. For example we are just going to put the tooth paste on your teeth or this will make a scraping sound on the teeth to let my child know what to expect. Overall I have never experienced a dental visit like this. My daughter left very upset. I did already speak to the clinic and requested not to be put with the same dentist in the future. So I was extremely surprised to find out when I called that the dentist specialised in children given her approach. It may have been an instant dislike for myself or for my child, honestly I’m not sure but I don’t believe it was warranted as I didn’t speak to her rudely nor did my child. My child did show a lot of anxiety and maybe that annoyed her. On another note the dental assistant was lovely.

Core Dental charge for services not rendered – Called the clinic for what I specifically stated was a checkup ($95). At the end of the conversation the receptionist tried to rope me into paying $195 (the price that includes the scale and clean). I informed her I wanted just a checkup and she accepted that. follows, and this is what I paid even though most of the services on the list were not provided: comprehensive oral exam $20 (done) 4 x-rays $28 (done) oral mucosal screening (not done) $9 photographic records - intraoral (not done) $11 photographic records - extraoral (not done) $11 clinical occlusal analysis (not done) $16 Legally, this is considered fraudulent billing and is in fact against the law. I will not trust a company that defrauds its customers with the health of my teeth, and will not be going again.

Visited core dental at Epping today. I had Dr Tristan Balthazaar. Had my teeth whitened & a clean. Best service I've had. Always checking in with me to see that I was doing ok & that I was comfortable, as I have back issues. Very welcoming & friendly. Will definitely be going there again.

The dentist I see is so good – My dentist is marvellous and l often recommend people to her. Do wish there was still an hygienist but the last one I saw I would not see again. But choose this dentist as there was an hygienist but happy with the way my dentist cleans them. Show reply
