process was transparent and well organised throughout. Dealing with Jennifer was easy, and she was very helpful in finalising a plan that worked for our land and our budget. She guided us carefully through the planning stage and helped us find a design that ticked both boxes without blowing our budget. After securing the plan, we moved on to the colour selection phase, and that experience was even better. I know this is usually the stage where builders push upgrades, but our experience was the complete opposite. Unfortunately, I cannot recall her name, but the interior designer was knowledgeable, clear, and had no interest in upselling for its own sake. Before starting the long process, she asked about our budget and requirements and guided us from there. She helped us invest in the things that genuinely mattered and pulled back in areas where the savings were real without affecting the result. My wife and I are not interior designers, and some of our initial choices reflected that but she steered us in the right direction with patience and a good eye. The prebuild stage was handled excellently by Dominique and Amy, who kept us regularly informed and made sure we were never left in the dark. All the approvals including council approvals were done on time. Then came the build phase and this is where our experience stood apart from anything I had heard or expected. Although I had a great experience with Brighton before, and had done a fair amount of research before choosing them, and a common theme kept coming up with most builders: they show their best face until the contract is signed, and once the deposit is paid, the real experience begins which is terrible. With Brighton, and with Stuart specifically, the opposite was true. The construction phase was the smoothest and most reassuring part of the entire process. From the day Stuart was assigned as our site supervisor, he called to introduce himself and the level of communication never dropped from there. We received weekly and fortnightly email updates without fail, the web portal was kept current with progress photos, and organising a call or face-to-face meeting was never an issue. If I forgot to reply to one of his messages (this happened many times throughout the process), he was the one who followed up not me. Going in, I had assumed the build would take at least eight months. It started in October, and with the Christmas shutdown and Queensland's storm season ahead, delays felt like a near certainty. At our first face-to-face meeting, Stuart laid out his plan for the next three months in detail. His goal was to complete everything up to tiling before Christmas, possibly including the tiling. I appreciated the confidence, but privately I wasn't convinced. Too many builders make early promises that quietly fade. I was wrong. Progress was visible almost every single day. The pace was hard to keep up with. There were times Stuart had to follow up with us because we hadn't checked the portal. But it wasn't just the speed. The quality of the construction was also to the next level. When a storm caused significant damage to our insulation one night before the bricks were laid, I called Stuart the next morning and he was already on site sorting it out with the contractors. I personally know people in the same area whose builds were derailed by similar events. Delayed timelines and compromised quality because the situation weren’t managed well. Stuart handled it methodically, kept us fully informed, and answered every question I had, sometimes with photos and screenshots attached in his early morning response, even when I had messaged him late at night. That kind of commitment gave us real peace of mind. It got to the point where I decided not to hire a private inspector for stage inspections. However, Stuart always made clear he was happy to work alongside one if we wanted and some of his other clients do the same. The practical completion inspection was no different. Stuart walked us through the house thoroughly and without any sense of being rushed. He answered our questions and, in several instances, pointed out minor finishing details that we had completely missed, adding them to the rectification list himself. Nearly all defects were resolved within a week, and the handover was seamless. The entire house was finished by February. Given the Christmas break and the storms, that still feels remarkable. The only “ISSUE” we had was that the house was finished so quickly we weren't ready to move in. Stuart is knowledgeable, reliable, and a genuinely good person to deal with. Most importantly, he kept his word every time. We are very grateful for the care he put into building our dream home.

We are also very very happy with our project coordinator Amy Fox! Amy is a clear case of awesomeness personified! She has been of tremendous help, responds speedily to our emails and requests and helpful in helping us navigate this building process as first timers.

Edited: We had our electrical open studio and selections (afterwards) with Jack after my initial review. Jack was very helpful at both sessions and was able to bring our ideas to life. He was very patient with us as FHBs and was very willing and happy to offer very useful suggestions. He is also very responsive to our emails afterwards. We are a very happy Brighton customer!

Overall, our pre construction phase has been great, and we 100% recommend Brighton Homes both to first timers builders and others.

the first week of occupancy due to a safety switch tripping. As per the attached documentation, this issue was initially identified in November but was not rectified at the time. It was only followed up again post-handover by our project manager. We feel it is is unacceptable that we had to take possession of our home with a non-functional air conditioning system. However, due to scheduling constraints linked to the sale of our previous home, we had no option but to proceed with the handover. Urgent Air Conditioning Issue This matter is of significant concern, particularly as my wife is recovering from surgery and requires a comfortable environment. I contacted Aftercare Sales on Saturday evening, and after some discussion, I was initially advised that an electrician would attend Sunday. However, this has now been pushed to Monday morning, causing further inconvenience. While I understand that an electrician may not be able to repair the unit if the fault lies with the system itself, they must attend first thing Monday morning to rule out any switchboard issues. I do not want this issue delayed any further, nor do I want to see it pushed back throughout Monday or into Tuesday. Additionally, I find it concerning that Energy Air, your installer, has an after-hours contact number yet could not be reached by your Aftercare team. Furthermore, Actron Air does not provide weekend or after-hours support. Given the significant buying power and contractual agreements that Brighton and the NEX Group likely have with these businesses, the lack of after-hours support is perplexing. I am also deeply concerned that this air conditioning unit may continue to experience ongoing faults. Given the circumstances, if this matter cannot be fully resolved immediately, I request that alternative arrangements be made, such as the provision of a portable air conditioning units or other suitable solutions. Additional Outstanding Defects While most defects identified post-handover have been addressed, the following remain outstanding and require immediate rectification: Air Conditioning Upgrade Issue – The individual room modules for the upgraded system have not been installed. This was included in our selections and must be rectified without further delay. Bathroom Fixtures – In the main bathroom, only one single towel rail has been installed instead of two doubles, and in the ensuite, single rails have been installed instead of doubles. I am unsure how this discrepancy occurred, but it must be corrected. Given these issues, I expect clear confirmation of the rectification timeline for all outstanding matters. Please confirm that the electrician will attend first thing Monday morning in conjunction with Energy Air and Actron Air. Additionally can you provide an update on how and when the remaining defects will be resolved.

plugs of sinks and tub, found out termites in less than 3 months, etc). They have not taken action for any of the issues till to date (11.01.2025).

Also the finishing of the patio is way too unsatisfactory. We had to remove most of the builders' garbage as well.

I highly doubt how Brighton Homes has become the best Builder. We will never go for them again, neither recommend them to anyone.
