Very, very bad customer service. I have booked my ticket, but couldn't travel and made a request to extend my ticket for December 2026. Happy to pay the difference. But I am told I can't. story, "we will be processing it soon, blah blah blah". Now another rep is saying they can't find any record on their system and refusing to refund. What a st^pid airline.
Safe, Reliable & Comfortable Airline – I had a first-class, almost perfect flying experience with Air Mauritius in Oct 23, when I flew first from Perth to Mauritius and then from Mauritius to Cape Town. crew were friendly, polite, and completely bilingual in French and English. The food service was punctual on both journeys. On the first journey, from Perth to Mauritius, the main meal was curried chicken and rice and it was delicious. Shortly before we landed we were given a nice pastry snack with a vegetarian filling. On my trip to Cape Town, we had a beef dish as our main evening meal and it was also fresh and tasty. Unlike some airlines, where the main meal is just that, these meals include rolls, salad, little entrees, and dessert.
There are ample toilets on the planes, and they were kept clean and well supplied with provisions throughout the journeys.
I enjoyed both my flights with Air Mauritius and the prices were modest compared to some other airlines. I would use them again.
Avoid if you can – WEAKNESSES 1) Comfort and environment: - the seats are very uncomfortable and too close from one another which leaves absolutely no room space at all - they use kerosene which has a very strong smell and the whole plane smells of it, especially if you sit at the back => makes me nauseous - they used very old planes until really recently 2)… Read more
Personnel on-board: - sometimes overly casual or sometimes borderline disrespectful and condescending => you never know what to expect - personnel obviously very stressed and can be quite short to customers - requests are not always met (e.g. glass of water, juice, feeling uneasy)
3) Personnel at check-in: - the worst area of the service they provide - personnel is very rude and incompetent: nearly got yelled at for an error they had in their own system for luggage transfer and check-in; they blamed the client first - personnel very condescending and short
4) Customer service - they ignore complaints (no response to emails or letters when complaining about staff or their services, and if they do reply there is absolutely no follow-up) => I lodged a complaint about a very rude check-in staff number to which they only acknowledged receipt of and never followed despite me being a silver member - unable to open attached documents in emails which leads to having to send them the same document many times - unable to scroll up conversation history which leads to having to send them the same information many times - take at least a month for a refund of any kind
STRENGTHS: - only airline that serves Mauritius - Australia (Perth-Mauritius Airport) - online entertainment is reasonable - choice of complimentary drinks is good - small travel bag that include toiletries offered
