Its a typical north American airline - service is poor, food is not edible, care factor is close to zero - entertainment inflight is bearable - if you were flying 20yrs ago. flight delayed 2 hrs and they were questioning us entering the lounge as they felt you were only allowed 3 hrs - even though it was Air Canadas fault. I would not recommend… Read more
them - upside the flight was cheap when i booked it - but weeks later it was twice the price - so there is no way i would pay that much for this service.
I think Air Canada is not one of the dodgiest organization in the world, but I think they are THE DODGIEST organization in this world we have seen. Just put the poor customer service and high prices on the side. Here what I experienced: Marriott Bonvoy account says this: "Transfer Your Miles to Points Aeroplan Miles to Points 1:1" There is a link… Read more
which you can click and that will take you to the official website of Air Canada. This is from Air Canada's official website: "Convert your Marriott Bonvoy points to Aeroplan points Convert 3 Marriott Bonvoy points for 1 Aeroplan point to redeem for flights, hotel stays, car rentals, hundreds of products via the Aeroplan eStore and more!" Right? so already they shaft customers and make them poorer 3 times. BUT.... that does not exist either? what a joke. They must be prosecuted for cheating and lying to the public. Avoid them at all cost

I’ve traveled Air Canada for over 20 years. Used to be a good airline. Traveling from Calgary to Brisbane I’ve now had 2 disappointing trips only months apart. Recently, on AC35, experienced mediocre service but worst still was the food. Breakfast was disgusting on both disappointing trips. Same menu too. Anemic looking sausage with some sort of… Read more
scrambled egg resembling vomit with white sauce. No no no!! Just so bad. The bread, hard and dry. Couldn’t stomach the food. Seriously, when you’re confined for 16 hours, food is the only comfort to look forward to.
My bag too looked like it had been thrown and squashed. Brand new when I left Calgary, I now have to replace! Did you know broken wheels don’t turn? Couldn’t even pull the thing. It was a hard cover case, dents and scrapes on it through the colour with deep gauges (I’ve taken photos). Even my personal tag ID was gone, only the cover remained.
Don’t waste your time and money. Choose another airline. I’m am in future. DO BETTER AIR CANADA, DO BETTER!

Astonished at the shockingly poor service from Air Canada—absolutely unacceptable for a so-called “full-service” airline. Booked a flight for my son from Vancouver (where he lives) to Calgary and return for a week together in Banff for my 50th Birthday ….. however, they left him stranded in Calgary after sending his luggage to Vancouver and… Read more
then denying him boarding on his return flight. The check-in staff (and gate staff) in Vancouver had no issue accepting his overseas driver’s license as ID and allowed him to board the outbound leg—without a single mention of any problem. Yet somehow, on the return leg, with the exact same ID, he was denied boarding at the gate (despite being already allowed to checkin and send his luggage through with the exact same photo ID.)
His luggage was taken. He was left behind. No money. No care. No accountability.
The supervisor in Calgary was beyond rude and dismissive. Air Canada’s so-called Customer “Care” team refused to take any responsibility or offer any kind of refund or assistance for the unused portion of the flight.
My son had to spend over $700 in Uber and bus fares just to get home.
We will NEVER fly Air Canada again. A disgraceful experience from start to finish.
Very disappointed – Our flight to Vancouver was fine but the return night flight was terrible. Food was disgusting, toilets weren’t cleaned. The flight attendants were okay but not the best. Really disappointed and won’t bother booking with them again or recommend them. Really disappointing as I thought they were a reputable airline.
AIR CANADA SIMPLY THE WORST! – I traveled on Air Canada flight AC 313 from YUL to YVR at 9:30pm EST with my elderly parents. Within 15 minutes of settling into our seats, we discovered that the monitors in rows 16-17-18 were not working. Despite half of the plane being empty, including preferred seating in rows 18 and 19, we were rudely offered seats further toward the back of… Read more
the plane, excluding the empty seats right behind us simply because they had an extra five inches of legroom.
The lack of courtesy from Air Canada staff was disappointing. They showed no compassion or respect for passengers, including those who contribute to their salaries. I’ve flown with many airlines, and Air Canada consistently falls short in customer service. It’s frustrating to see such behavior from the national airline, and it reflects poorly on our country. Other successful airlines treat their passengers with far more kindness and professionalism.

The flight was delayed for over 5 hours at the departure city (Vancouver). A few years ago, I read online that Air Canada was listed as one of the 10 airlines which was not punctual, Air Canada was listed as the number 10 (the least punctual). And… Read more
in deed, it hasn't been punctual at all. And this time in January, I was flying from Vancouver to Sydney, it deplayed for over an "impressive" 5 hours! The waiting was from 10:00pm until 3:50am! Wow, what an "impressive" airline!!! They did not offer anything as an apology to the passengers at all, neither at the airport, nor on the airplane. In comparison, two years ago, I was flying American Airline from Vancouver to Taipei, during a stopover in San Francisco, we were told the next flight would be delayed for a few hours, and each passenger received a food voucher to get a meal in the airport, I enjoyed a steak meal. It was that generous by American Airline. In contrary, I contacted Air Canada after the flight for compensation of a meal I bought in Vancouver airport during the wait, it was only $22 for a burger, Air Canada refused! It is a terrible airline which I would not recommend to anyone at all! I'm sure they will carry the delay "habbit" to future flights and they will never bother to compensate you for anything! Try as much as possible to avoid this airline.

Spectacular service – I would like to sent some praise to the flight attendant in zone 2 on flight AC374 from Winnipeg to Montreal on May 11th, 2024. My seat 14C. Last Minute changes – The airline changed 71 year old’s flight last minute with no given reason or choice. The woman had to stay an extra 2 hours at Vancouver airport and her luggage was delayed. luggage by mail to her home address. I am not sure why the change happened, it might have been because the plane landed earlier than expected at Vancouver airport and it had to dock at a different terminal which changed the terminal for the outbound connecting flight. The lady has poor hearing however and would not have heard of the changes being reported. It would have been better of them to call the US number pro I or send an email so she would have been better notified of these changes as she would have likely still made the original flight.
Generally a wonderful trip – Flight Sydney to Vancouver, then Charlotte to Toronto, Vancouver than back to Sydney. Flew Premium Economy. Trip to Vancouver was excellent - some delay, great food and staff. Very comfortable. Trip back from USA/Canada was not so good - some delays, lost luggage (which was returned OK a day later), food was poor, one staff person quite racist towards my Asian wife. On the whole it was a good experience and would recommend Air Canada. Show details

Worst airline I have flown. Flew business class Sydney to Vancouver overnight and had screaming children on both legs. I do not pay the business class price for this. Seat head set was broken and there was nothing they could do. It is a back seat airline and not worth the money. Show details

Staff were great. Seats, now for the second time in a row on 15 hour flights were awful! Hard. So hard! Barely reclined. I would choose not to fly AC because of it, but Qantas doesn't fly the route.I.want. Show details
Worst airline . Had a flight that was 1.5 hours and got delayed 4 times for a total of 6 hours without any explanation . Got reply back from Air Canada on compensation and they hide behind legal language . So zero comp on top of it . I am a Gold member only because our government limits competition and so companies like air canada take advantage of. Show details

I wish I could give 0 stars, My dad was flying from Australia to Canada and Sydney Air Canada staff messed up his entire trip by issuing him wrong boarding pass which was on different person's name, that was sorted as we noticed but then the bags were assigned to someone else and my dad did not receive his luggage when he arrived in Calgary. and I had to spend a whole day here at sydney airport to find out for those bags.
Very bad customer service. Booked through air canada and they assigned me a virgin flight. Later I couldn't check in online and they said virgin will check me in to both. checking flight status online. Later virgin rebooked me to another flight ( destination wennipeg), but instead booked a flight from Brisbane to vancouver and then from Calgary to wennipeg without a connection between vancouver and Calgary. After being taken around from service desk to another I lost out on my bulkhead seat that I was trying to purchase. I also did not get a rebooking to wennipeg without an extreme lay over. They recommended I find the service desk in vancouvet and try my luck there. Essentially they stranded my in vancouver without an appropriate plan. When I asked for a complimentary upgrade given the extreme delays snd mistakes on their end, they refused. Honestly one of the worst international flight experiences that I have had and I will not travel with them again. Their international service has less customer help and feels worse than some smaller domestic services.
Uncomfortable small seats in economy at a premium price - flight delayed an hour, actually couldnt believe how tightly packed the small uncomfortable seats were for a long international flight. hot towels - this was by a long mile my worst international travel experience ever. Flight was Vancouver to Sydney, 16 hours and i felt uncomfortable by the time we took off due to no leg room. Service was unfriendly and hurried.
My wife, who has Multiple Sclerosis (MS), experienced unacceptable treatment travelling alone with Air Canada. We had pre-booked an extra legroom bulkhead seat (not an exit row) for a long-haul flight, which is a physical necessity due to her condition. We cannot afford a seat in a higher class. one, despite her presenting proof of disability. During the flight, the lack of space caused her severe pain, muscle spasms, and distress. She received minimal support from the cabin crew. The mismanagement continued upon arrival in Sydney when airport staff left her, unwell and unable to use her phone, unattended outside the arrivals gate at customs. She was also left a significant distance from her walking frame. This incident led to a hospital visit due to potential stroke-like symptoms or an MS relapse. The experience highlights serious concerns about consumer rights, airline accountability, and the inadequate support for passengers with disabilities.
We booked a flight with Air Canada in 2024 where our fare included seats and baggage. apologised. Nothing more was done. We had to cut our holiday short by two days and change accommodation etc which was a nightmare. Not only that when we got to the airport to check-in they tried to charge us extra for bags and we had to pull out our original email from our original booking that said that bags were included. Apparently they’ve changed their booking system in January 2025. Also they asked us if we wanted to Pay extra for seats and we politely declined and as a result we were separated all the way to Canada and the same thing happened again when we came back to Australia. They again tried to charge us extra for bags and had to go through the whole thing again. This is a terrible airline to fly and I do not recommend. I should be able to sit with my husband on a long haul flight. It was very traumatic!!!!!!! Lastly trying to make a complaint to Air Canada about our experience is extremely hard and to date we have been unable to successfully contact them and try and get partially refunded because they changed our tickets and our flights without notifying us, so do yourselves a favour and avoid this airline at all costs unless you want to pay more. Pure Greed!!!! They don’t even deserve the 1 star rating. They only deserve a 0 in my opinion. Never again.

unable to help to speak to staff on arrival in Vancouver! On arrival in Vancouver was advised no staff available until 3hrs prior to flight. Staff did not arrive at gate until 1 1/2 hrs before flight. I asked why I was moved and was informed someone had paid extra for the seat! I asked why wasn't I informed and offered the chance to pay if that was how they operated to which I wasn't given an answer. I was told they would contact the person and see if willing to change. No one contacted me , the flight was fully booked so had to remain in that seat. I was travelling with my best friend, we are both in our late seventies and had to spend 15+ hrs sitting with strangers! I had booked ailse seat as have a history of clots so need to get up and move around frequently during flights. My friends seat did not have a functioning light or screen. The food was terrible, far below standard of other airlines! Definitely will not travel with them again. Bev

We had not flown Air Canada (AC) previously. However, this airline offered an uninterrupted flight from Brisbane to Vancouver. AC has a Skytrax rating of 29 (up from 38). scheduled date. We could not book a more appropriately scheduled flight as AC did not offer a refund*. It only allowed us to reschedule with another AC flight, which would have resulted in us arriving late and missing the tour or arriving early in Vancouver and having to pay an extra day’s hotel charges. We choose the latter. (The Fairmont hotel’s charge of CAD$679 ballooned up to CAD$819 with nine separate extra charges, yes 9, but surprisingly with no card surcharge or the ubiquitous Canadian gratuity.) Also on our return trip in the Premium Economy seat, with stuck. AC offered a small compensation of CAD$200(later increased by 25%), which in no way compensated for the extra charge of about $3000 from economy to premium economy. Also, the compensation could only be used within the AC, which they describe as in an AC Wallet. (Not useful if one did not intend to use AC or AC did not have an appropriate flight schedule.) AC refused any compensation for the extra costs we incurred due to the cancelled flights, the inconvenience, angst, and then having to pay for hotel accommodation. So whilst it could have been very unfortunate that we had two negative experiences with AC, the customer resolution response we felt was less than adequate. We would have found the Premium Economy cabin comfortable if it was not for the stuck seat. The food was satisfactory (though certainly not anywhere near that offered in Business Class). We also found the service good. The above review was sent to AC for review before submission, so as to achieve a balanced and objective review. AC did not respond.
* We later learned that a refund may have been possible, albeit probably subject to a fee. This was not made clear to us when AC cancelled our flight.
Air Canada excels in customer antagonism and frustration. In an effort to cut their staff and improve 'efficiency' they are now entirely run by computer algorithms. It's impossible to speak to a real person and when you do, they can't do anything against the 'System'. I tried to upgrade my ticket but had to bid in an auction. I was informed 24 h… Read more
before the flight that I was successful but they couldn't process my credit card payment. No option to enter a different credit card or speak to a representative. I have never been treated with such disrespect, disdain and indifference. I was utterly humiliated. I will make every effort to FLY WITH A DIFFERENT AIRLINE in future
Worst airline for price gouging even when offering no service whatsoever. I'd gone premium economy and my family went economy. Called customer service immediately, they insisted we pay again for the leg room seat we already paid for instead of reversing the changes which had occurred less than an hour ago. Asked to speak to a manager and customer service rep hung up (after waiting on hold for 40min) without even explaining if there was a manager and why we couldn't speak to someone with discretion in these situations. Atrocious and unethical behaviour, will never let anyone I know fly with them again.
Never again! Seating was terrible with no legroom and I’m only 162cm. Toilets were not maintained yet the staff had plenty of time on their hands sitting and talking at the back of the plane. already booked a flight to Australia. At least in November we had a hotel provided. My flight from Edmonton to Vancouver was delayed two hours. Again, maintenance issues. We BARELY made our connection from Vancouver to Brisbane. We were so happy that we actually made the flight. After boarding and sitting around for about an hour, we were then told we had to deplane, again, the "catchall excuse" of maintenance issues. We were told to deplane. The Air Canada agents offered little to no help, advising that we just needed to check our emails. We went to get our bags. Several other passengers on our flight were provided with hotels. Others, like us, were not. We spent a horrible, uncomfortable night in the airport, my sister, myself and my 11 yr old niece slept on a metal bench like 3 homeless people. In the morning, we tried to use our meal vouchers but were told you couldn't even use them at the air Canada lounge... What?! Very limited places you could use the vouchers, not even the convenience store. Doesn't seem right. I can't say any of us looked forward to a 15 hour flight after sleeping on a bench in the Vancouver airport. There were of course no air Canada agents anywhere to assist at this hour in this airport. I assume that they were comfortably sleeping in their beds as their customers suffered at the airport.
Had the worst experience with this airline. They cancelled my flight last minute overseas, citing airline issues, forcing me to book emergency flights with different airline. Then they refused to just simply refund me. Then PayPal, equally garbage, sided with them. Why? Three things: 1) Will never book Air Canada again. You've lost all business… Read more

and booked my return on 3/7. I thought I could correct this mistake when I check in. Wow, what an experience. Checking in staff are rude. The duty manager Karen and her colleague Shamiran are unfriendly and hopeless ( and passively aggressive with their jokes). They cannot even solve a simple issue, instead they make you call Canada (international call, an unattended telephone at $3 a minute), with a 30 min wait I hang up. How can air Canada not have a customer service in Australia? Add this: our flight took off at 11:45 am and we were served lunch at around 2 pm. No dinner the whole flight and breakfast was served at 3 am (ie 13 hours later). They want you to feast on junk foods during the flight. The breakfast was inedible, the egg omelette smelled raw. The wine undrinkable. The interment, another story. Worse than an airlines in low income countries. Then in connecting flight after being starved, you have to pay for poor foods. Just too messy and a useless airline. Will never use this airline again.
