We dealt with Don (Mackie). It just so happened he lived near us so he was gracious enough to bring the vehicle to us that we were interested in.

Even though the car has no warranty, there were a few things that needed attention and Don said to just contact him.

He made the process really as smooth as it could be.

Reuben at the workshop has been a dream to deal with, and is a master of underpromising and overdelivering. He literally had parts the NEXT DAY and was able to fit/fix them.

The whole experience has been totally unexpected in a positive sense.

I have recently paid 2.5 times more for another vehicle purchase from a seemingky reputanle dealer and have already had a number of let downs and with very poor communication.

I would have no hesitation recommending Don and IF you need attention from the Workshop then Reuben is your man.

Tip for Buyers: It helps if you have someone who knows cars well enough to check it out with you.

Tip for Sellers: They apparently sell wholesale pre-auction so you're unlikely to get a good trade-in price as they also buy at wholesale value

Greedy, Rude, Untrustworthy – I have purchased 2 cars through these guys and I don't believe they can be trusted. They are also incredibly greedy and can be rude - when I recently disputed the price they offered on my late model vehicle, the sales guy hung up on me. Be aware that they will low ball you on a price for your car if you want to sell it - telling you how bad your car is, and outright lying to you about what it is worth. It's typical hard sell tactics.

These guys are essentially a dealers auction, and I feel are quite predatory toward individual buyers and sellers - that is at least my experience. My advice is don't buy or sell to these guys unless you have good knowledge of mechanics cause they will likely exploit you if you don't.

There are some good Auctions out there though. I recommend F8 at Beresfield or Helen from United Auctions at Newcastle. I have had good experiences from both.

Btw. If you look at 90% of the positive reviews for Valley Motor Auctions on this site, they seem suspicious. Each reviewer only has 1 review to their name. The reviewers like me who have multiple reviews all gave very negative appraisals.

Excellent & prompt service – I saw a vehicle I wanted for use on my bush acres. Contacted Don who was most helpful & understanding. He told me vehicle would be checked for its roadworthiness before being shipped to me on the South Coast. This was done very promptly and I received the vehicle in very good condition for its age. Gavin was professional as always and I am ecstatic with the car overall. I could not recommend Valley Motor Auctions highly enough and have since shown the car to several friends who I believe will now put Valley at the top of their shopping list. Very ordinary experience – Was interested in a Subaru as out of auction purchase, so put down $500 deposit. When I changed my mind (after many issues pointed out by my mechanic) was informed by the very rude salesman that deposit was non refundable.
