My Sharp sjxp580gbk fridge leaks water from freezer to fridge huw can I fix this
Sorry, can't help. We haven't had any leaking problems so can only talk about my experience with my fridge. Perhaps!!! it's a problem related to the heater/defrost system.
my fridge leaks water from the freezer into fridge
how can I fix this
I have a 2 door fridge and was looking at these at Costco today. Looks lovely but reading these reviews makes me change my mind. I love my Sharp TV and DVD player etc. But now I doubt I will be buying this fridge. :(
Fridge is wonderfully easy to clean black glass. However DO NOT expect any assistance from Sharp. We rang several times but, unfortunately, were left dissatisfied each time. They referred us to a recommended Sharp service man who was about 200 kms away and obviously declined to travel that far!! We paid a local service man who came and fixed the simple problem in 2 mins flat. Such a waste of money. Sharp could have told us to do what the repair man told us. Sharp need to seriously look at their customer support system. It is not knowledgeable about its own products. An utter waste of time ringing them. We were disappointed. Like you, we have had good service from several Sharp products we previously owned, especially our microwave oven.
Thanx Owen. It makes me definitely abated to buy a fridge from them. We will look around at other models.
We need a replacement door shelf and wondering who actually stock these. Thanks
I have a Sharp refrigerator. I am not a supplier. During our recent troubles with this fridge, Sharp didn't assist us at all, despite 3 approaches to them. They referred us to a service man who lived more than 100 kms away and, obviously wasn't prepared to travel to our home. I do not know of any suppliers for replacement parts. The 3 service men we approached, all told us the same thing. They have difficulties obtaining replacement parts. The only time Sharp seem to be interested is if the fridge is still under warranty., then they will offer help. Otherwise, they basically offer no real support. Ancella
Hi, we are looking to buy Sharp 581L Top Mount (SJXP580G) from Costco - any recent feedback/recommendation on this product please?
Personally, I wouldn't buy a Sharp fridge. Looks good but doesn't live up to its appearance. We bought this model just on 4 years ago. Now, it is sitting in my kitchen unable to be repaired. Freezer over freezing food and fridge not keeping food cold enough. We have 'phoned Sharp at least 4 times. Absolutely no satisfaction from them. You merely speak to an uninformed person where we had hoped a technician may have been able to give us some guideline. Didn't happen! We were referred to a repair man who lives 4 1/2 hrs away - he wouldn't come, obviously, but he said he would never work on a Sharp. He finds the company too difficult to work with and the parts are too hard to access. Other service men have since told us this same story. We are now faced with having to buy a new fridge. Our previous fridge lasted 20+ years so we are feeling bitterly disappointed in Sharp after only 4 years. At least if they communicated, it would be something, but they don't take ' phone calls only emails. Not good enough, too impersonal. For such a large company, they need to improve not only their product but their after sales service as well Also, when it was delivered, small areas of the glass around the edge of the door was lifting. My husband glued it down but it never looked quite the same. Further small areas of glass have since lifted. Glass is very low maintenance, easy to keep clean, just a shame it lifts. We bought the Sharp because we had remarkable use from a Sharp microwave and it was wonderful, very troublefree. I wouldn't go near a Sharp fridge based on my experience. Summary: Unsatisfactory after sales service and extreme difficulty accessing a repair man who agrees to work on Sharp products because of problems in obtaining replacement parts.
Thankyou very much for your advise and thankyou for sharing your experience with us in such a detail. Much appreciated. Cheers
I bought this fridge about a year ago at Retravision. The fridge has unpleasant plastic smell, coming from the circulation outlet on the top of the fridge near the chiller. It has lasted since the day I purchased, I thought because it was new but the smell is getting stronger. This smell sticks to all the food inside and to all plastic/silicone containers. Not sure if it is harmful chemical sticking to our food.
I have tried many ways to get rid the smell. I unplugged the refrigerator, wiped the interior, left the door open, and air it out for 3 days. Also, I put baking soda/ coffee / vanilla in a bowl inside. But nothing works.
Called Sharp Customer Support 8 days ago, got the case number, and the staff promised to escalate this problem to relevant department, but I have heard nothing since then.
We have a similar fridge but have not experienced the problem with the odor that you speak of. Ours was a different problem and, like you, we obtained no satisfactory help from the Sharp service centre. They need to improve the support they give to customers. Ancella
Thanks Ancella for your info. I start thinking that mine is a hopeless case also. What’s the point of 24 months warranty then ;(
Every time fridge door is closed,it slams so hard that freezer door opens up.The fridge is brand new.Why is this happening?

Hi
I purchased this fridge from Masters in Dec 2015
I have been very happy with it until today when I noticed the glass front on the freezer compartment is lifting. I am concerned it may become completely unstuck
I am aware that is it just out of manufacture warranty, but was wondering where I can get this fixed, is it a known issue?
I did pay for masters extended warranty which is valid til December 2020 and I believe they are still honouring these warranties.
Hope you can help me
Regards Sprat

Just wanting to know we purchased this fridge a couple months back we notice a loud bang pop sound like someone dropping a brick sound is this normal?, and it's also freezing food if near back of fridge but food right at front is the normal temp feels like half the space is wasted if I can use entire shelves
Hi Nicola, I have never had a load bang noise from the fridge. Can't reallu help you with that. My fridge does the same thing, but only if the item is touching the back of the fridge. We did have an issue about 2 years ago can't remember what it was but had someone from sharp come out and they changed something, haven't had an issue since. If you have any problems call sharp. They were really helpful and was all covered by my warrenty.

Hi Nicola
I have not had this problem but I would suggest you contact who you purchased from as it’s certainly not right . Good Luck !
Linda
Hi Nicola, it is actually normal for this fridge to make a loud clunk noise every so often. The instruction manual says it will do it once a day but my fridge does it a few times a day, including during the night. Annoying! So it is quite normal, well that is to say that the inverter is known to make noise (as I was told by Sharp). For me I had to get used to it and then the concern dissipates over time.
I think that the people who don't notice the clunks don't have the fridge close to their bedroom or lounge. In a larger or even 2 story house where the fridge is isolated from the other rooms then the noise would probably never be noticed. This really isnt a fridge for units/villas.
My fridge also tends to freeze lettuce and cucumbers when in containers on the bottom shelf. I'm not sure if having them close to the back or sides is causing this. But nothing freezes when I keep them in the vegetable bins. Try keeping vegetables central and toward the front and store items that can't freeze or that would benefit from the colder temps at the back.
Good luck! :)
We bought this fridge around a week ago, page 5 in the instructions (and an extra instruction sheet included with the front cover/foot supports)tells you to insert supports in the front feet. I did as instructed , the fridge is clearly leaning back way too far. I contacted Sharp customer support, she read what I was reading, put me on hold, came back and told me the name of the local service agent so that I could book a service call. I spoke to them, they confirmed it had way too much lean, thinking my fridge was somehow faulty I went back to Harvey Normans and had a look at their two display fridges. All the feet were at the lowest setting with no supports fitted. I now read where other people on this website were asking the same question months ago. Instead of asking me to contact customer support why don't you answer this question here and now, is this fridge meant to lean back around 50mm off vertical because that is what happens if you follow the instructions.
Hi Peter, Thank you for your question. We have spoken to our technical support team and they have advised it is normal for the refrigerator to lean backwards a bit as per the operational manual. However as your unit does lean back 5cms, it may be best not to have the support plastics installed. If you do require any assistance in the future, please do not hesitate to contact us via ccare@sharp.net.au.
Kind Regards,
Sharp Australia
Thanks for your reply. It would seem highly likely that all these fridges lean back too far if you follow the instructions, the very least Sharp could do is make sure their customer care staff are aware of this.
Hi Peter, my fridge also leans back at an angle, however I've spoken to a friend who works at one of the major white good retailers and he took a look and informed me that it is quite normal. The fridge may look kinda out of alignment with your fridge recess (well it does for mine at least) but its nothing to worry about. The tilt is also a good thing because if something happens to fall over in the fridge then it won't easily roll out onto the floor and break but stay within the fridge.
1. Can you please explain how much tilt there should be on our new (Monday 12/6/17) SJ-XP580G between the front and the back. My husband removed the foot supports as he felt it leaned too far back.
2, I currently have the operation set on Energy Saving and would like to change it to normal operation for the fridge and freezer but am unclear from the Op Manual which one is the general operating mode.
Thankyou, May

Hi, love the fridge. However, the instructions say it should be installed onto a board and not the floor. can you expand on this small note in the manual? should the board be at the back so that it doesn't lean back so far?
thanks, Duncan

I bought one of these new just last week and the interior lights in both fridge and freezer haven't worked since the first time I plugged it in, am I missing something? I read the instructions and it doesn't say anything about how to turn on/off.
