I purchased this dehumidifier expecting solid performance from Breville, and while it does extract moisture effectively, I’m quite disappointed with the noise level. On the positive side, it works well in terms of moisture removal. The 3.5L tank fills up quickly during humid weather — I find myself emptying it twice a day (morning and night),… Read more
which shows it’s doing its job.
However, the noise is a major downside. It’s significantly louder than expected and not suitable for bedroom use, especially if you’re a light sleeper. I initially had it in a bedroom with floorboards, then moved it to a tiled living area thinking it might help — but the noise actually feels even more noticeable on tiles due to sound reflection.
For a brand like Breville and a product category that’s been around for a long time, I expected a quieter, more refined operation. Unfortunately, the noise makes it difficult to run continuously or overnight.
Overall, good performance but let down by excessive noise. I’d only recommend it for use in living areas where noise is less of a concern.
This is one of my favourite devices, because at a guess I would say it’s saved us several thousand dollars, and a huge amount of heartache and time, based on how well it keeps our home mould free now. I originally bought one of these about 5 years ago when we had a lot of rainy weather and we discovered a horrible mould problem in our home -… Read more
long story short, after a frustrating and drawn out battle we had to throw out several large pieces of furniture and many soft furnishings that just kept growing mould no matter how well we cleaned, sterilised and aired our home. We were pretty devastated. Anyway, I bought one of these in a desperate attempt to remove as much moisture from the air as possible. Well hasn’t it worked a treat!
Since then, whenever we get rainy periods, or we’re just unable to air the house enough in winter when the humidity is higher for longer each day, we just close the house up and put on this dehumidifier. In summer it fills in around 6-8 hours, and in winter around 10-13 hours due to the colder temperature. But no matter what time of year, it gets the humidity down to a really comfortable level and we no longer have any issues with mould.
We typically run it in the standard fashion, ie. once the tank is full we empty it. When the humidity is really high like in a long drawn out wet season, if we didn’t think to put the dehumidifier on for a few days we find it best to follow the instructions and run the dehumidifier in one room at a time to bring the humidity down as quickly as possible, then move it to another room, keeping the doors between rooms closed to improve it’s effectiveness. But once it’s pulled most of the humidity out we can open up the whole interior of our home and leave this amazing device running to keep our home’s humidity at a consistently low level even if it’s still pouring rain outside. So while this device says it is for a medium size room of 50 m², we find it can dehumidify a much larger area once the humidity gets down to a lower level. We have a home of around 180 m².
We have also used it with the hose function , so that we can leave it running for long periods without having to empty the tank - this has been a game changer for us not having to stress about coming home to a house full of mould or having to leave windows open when we go away on holidays. Of course you’re a little more restricted with where you can run it when using the hose because the water drains away by gravity so you need to ensure the dehumidifier is right next to a drain in the floor. But you do then have the benefit of being able to leave it running non-stop for weeks on end. FYI we discovered an issue one of the first times we used the hose, and I suspect it’s not an uncommon issue because I found similar issues described online when I was trying to figure out what was wrong with our dehumidifier and why it had leaked all over our floor.. essentially I think the supplied hose is probably a little too narrow and textured to allow the water to flow freely away from the dehumidifier if the hose has any bends in it. There seems to be an issue where water can back up in the hose and leak down the insides of the casing if the hose doesn’t have a really good, straight downhill path for the water to easily run away. When this happened to us I took it back and it was replaced under warranty, only for me to discover the same issue occurred with my new identical dehumidifier - but I figured out the quirk, and we’ve had no issues ever since, having now run it like this with the hose many times. Just make sure that you set it up with the hose pointing straight from the dehumidifier toward your floor drain, without curling on the ground. We have happily left it running for weeks without a single leak since learning to set it up this way.
When I first looked at buying a dehumidifier I balked at the price, but I have never looked back since we started using this amazing little machine. It has made such an enormous difference to the comfort and safety of our home. Get one!
Build-in humidity sensor is not reflective of the room's humidity, shutting of before the room reached the set humidity – The humidity sensor is built into the dehumidifier, it is therefore not reflective of the room's humidity, thus, the humidity reading can be out by as much as 15%, resulting in shutting off too early, and starting to late. My fix: I am now controlling the dehumidifier with a SmartPlug controlled by the room's humidity sensor. This works like a… Read more
charm. The product can be controlled via its own app, but also works within the Tuya app. I wish they had a Zigbee option talking MQTT (even as a plug in option at a price).
Love it!! – Mine has worked perfectly from day one. Removed so much water from air. Automatically turns off when tank is full. Very powerful. Love that it has a timer. EDIT.. adding It’s is still going strong and it’s is 2024 now. It is 3 years old and has been getting a work out! We had a leak and had it running a lot. It has been a life saver for us at… Read more
removing musty smells in our downstairs room where the water leaked. I also love it’s on wheels and you have move it around the room.
Did more damage than good – Bought this dehumidifier because of the ability for it to pump the water container up to a sink. The pump function works after the container is full and then pumps it empty. I set it up overnight only to realise in the morning that the pump was broken/cracked and had pumped the water mostly onto our new wooden floor, damaging the vanish. The… Read more
pump looks very cheap and in making the dehumidifier they didn't really consider the impact of a cheap pump might have on its surroundings.
If you do ignore this, then suggest you fill the tank with water when you first set up the unit and then press the pump button. This should drain the container and you will get an early indication if it leaks or not. Do not leave it and assume it'll work.

Incredible value for money – I am currently living in my sisters house which has a downstairs area fitted with a kitchen and bathroom; a studio apartment type space roughly 50-60 square meters, and I have been having a serious problem with mold. I had only been living here for about 4-5 months when the issues started to occur. I was finding mold everywhere - behind the free… Read more
standing mirror in the bathroom, on the windows, behind shelving units etc. so I began opening windows to let it air out throughout the day and placing DampRid around the place but it hadn’t fully stopped the problem.
I decided the best option was to buy a dehumidifier and settled on this one because it covered the square meterage closely to what I needed and it didn’t break the bank and after several uses I can already say I’m very pleased with this purchase.
I set it up at 4:45pm the afternoon I received it and let it run until 9:45pm. After 2 hours I checked the level and it had collected 580ml, and after 5 hours, just over 1L of moisture in the air. I couldn’t believe how much was in the tank. It’s easy to use, and the lowest speed setting is as quiet as a fan, and I am a sensitive sleeper but I know I could sleep comfortably if I ever wanted to sleep with it running overnight. For the price, the ease of use and the space it covers, I highly recommend this. (Purchased from Amazon for $375.00 in November 2022)
Great dehumidifier – This Model LAD308 is really good, fairly quiet doesn’t leak, easy to empty the tank, it’s on wheels so you can easily move it around. Brought my indoor humidity down from 83% to 50% in about two hours, pulled out 3 litres of water in the first 24hrs now it takes out around 2L every two days. I do turn the machine off at night and when I turn it… Read more
back on the humidity level has stayed around 55% over night now without it having to run all the time. I haven’t been able to get the humidity down lower than 47% with a room temperature of 20 degrees however I think that is a healthy and comfortable level. The air is now smelling really fresh and feels a lot cleaner and crisper inside. I wish I bought this ages ago although after reading some reviews from the older models I’m glad I got this newer version because it seems they fixed all the previous issues.
I was going to buy the Ausclimate but it doesn’t have the modern technology like wifi, the app for this is great I like being able to turn it on from the other room before bed or on the way home using the phone app, I also like that it tells you the humidity level on the display with other dehumidifiers you have to buy a seperate humidity reader.
I recommend this product to everyone, I didn’t realise how much better it makes the air quality even compared to an air purifier it’s much more effective, you really notice a difference after the first hour of having it switched on.

Not high powered but effective for small rooms – Must be a new model. It's the only dehumidifier we could get right now. It's small. Very quiet. Can be used at night even though it has an occasional gurgle. Easy to use and carry from room to room. For larger areas you might need more than 350W. Does not appear to have a "heat" function which other models have. Does not matter here.
Breville smart dry dehumidifier – Great product for taking all the moisture out of the air and keeping everything dry. The only problem is they are a little noisy when the compressor is running. Still a great product if you don't mind the noise. Show details
Great product - sucks an amazing amount of water out of the air – I bought this dehumidifier after having two small Kogan ones that broke down. It works really well - we have it in our bathroom but it can dehumidify the whole apartment! Show details
Keeps trying to take of shakes bouncing around the floor – Starts shaking bouncing around the floor like it wants to take off?? No didn't work. Does nothing to temperature of room. Total waist of money. Please explain????? Anyone know please. Show details
Works well. Stylish design – Had this product for a while now and it works well. Takes a lot of moisture out of the air and it looks pretty good so fits nicely in a bedroom or lounge. Water tank fills up pretty quickly though as it’s quite small. Show details
Not great..leaks water – It leaked water straight out of the box on day 1. Seems to be an issue from a lot of reviews. Breville customer support is a waste of time - spent c30 minutes on the phone with them and their final solution is to send it back to the place I bought it from, notwithstanding the fact that the product is faulty out of the box and they include in the… Read more
box a 2 year replacement guarantee. On the positive side it looks good as for the 1 day it was running it did remove a lot of water. Unfortunately a lot of that water was moved onto the floor. Would not recommend.

Under powered – What a dud returned after 3months. Was quiet and has a sleek design. Couldnt reduce humidity enough in our laundry. Maybe ok for small room. Not worth the high price tag 2 stars at best. The Goodguys offered a full refund. Show details
I returned it after 8 months – I bought the brevity dehumidifier to replace an old delonghi one. I had high hopes for it as it looks great and neat. I found it very noisy compared to the old one and sometimes wouldn’t change mode. Sometimes it wouldn’t turn off when I pressed the off button (had to pull the wall plug) sometimes it just blew hot air? It seemed to have a mind of… Read more
its own. The worst thing, which made me return it, was it would leak water all over the floor. Damaged our floor. I’m now looking to buy a Deloghi again.
Works wonders! – Absolutely does what it says and has been a great addition to my home appliances. Speeds up my clothes drying and also great for my home library to keep the humidity at the right level for my books. Love it’s portability and also many functions and the two levels of fan function for day/night time and also the timer. I can set it and forget it! Would definitely recommend :) Show details
Awful Quilty Control! – The machine is relatively dirty upon unboxing. Black marks are visible on the external of the surfaces. I suspect that the unit that I received could be a return item. The dehumidifier function does work. However, it does not allow water to drop into the watertank. Instead, it leaks on the floor. Luckily, I test it in the bathroom first. After… Read more
some investigation, I found out that there should be an opening that allow water to flow into the tank and it was BLOCK and the hole should be cut open from the plastic moulding. After gentile poke thru the hole, large amount of water flow out.
Would have give it a 4 stars if it have better QC. And would have ask for a refund I did not investigate further and fix the leakage.
If you have bought this unit, check the hole on the left above the watertank. Hope it helps.
Great product – The first machine we got didn't work well but we got it replaced. The second one works amazing and is portable. We have used ours everyday as our place is quite damp. So every few days we move it into different bedrooms and makes such a big difference in warmth/dryness. Though on the high setting it is quite noisy but on the low setting you can barely hear it. Perfect machine. Wished I bought the bigger one. Show details
A useful appliance for improved air quality inside the house – I’ve been using the Smart Dry Plus for the past 3 days in a lounge/dining room area of about 30 square metres. The dehumidifier has collected a fair amount of moisture from the room, and it helped to dry out the carpets after they were shampooed. It is easy to use and the controls and digital display are well set out. It has a number of different… Read more
operating modes and two fan levels. It also has a useful timer function that allows it to automatically turn off from between 1 to 24 hours, or it can automatically turn on from between 1 to 24 hours. The noise of the motor on the higher speed fan level is not distracting if you’re awake; for example, you can watch TV in the same room without the humidifier being a distraction, but i wouldn’t run it on the high speed setting in a bedroom when trying to sleep. The low speed setting is probably quiet enough to use in a bedroom at night. It’s better to use it before you go to bed to reduce humidity rather than running it through the night. With this humidifier, and all the other brands, they quote the amount of moisture that can be removed in 24 hours. It is highly unlikely it will ever remove the quoted amount in your house unless you use it when the humidity is 80% and the temperature is 30 degrees Celsius. The amount of moisture they remove at 27 degrees (just 3 degrees lower) is half of the amount at 30 degrees. So you can assume that if you’re using it in winter and the temperature in your house is 17 to 20 degrees, it will be removing much less moisture. However, they do work, and the moisture that was on our lounge room windows in the mornings last week was not there for the past two mornings after using the Smart Dry Plus dehumidifier. They are a useful appliance. We will be using ours in other rooms around the house and to assist drying clothes inside on wet days.
Works like a treat – We experienced a leak and needed to ensure the carpets and the floorboards were dry. It works well and after a couple of days, we didn’t notice any smell at all. It is small and portable enough to be moved around the different rooms in our house, even up and down stairs. We now use it in our walk in as seems to be fairly humid and I’ve noticed our… Read more
clothes do not have the damp smell.
The screen provides great info on the humidity and can be turned off if you have it in in the room while you sleep. It did take me a few days to get used to the motor but it’s not that loud that it's annoying. One thing to note is the plastic feels flimsy means we have to be a little careful moving it but we hope the Breville quality on the motor will give us years of service.
