We purched 3 units 4 years ago. Live in Malanda ( FNQLD). The best most efficient units, large home. Recommended this product to any household in any high humidity area in Aus. Easily lowers humidity from 80 plus down to 45% in large rooms....down to 30% (lowest) in smaller rooms. Power consumption is 500watts (only when compressor operating)...a… Read more
little noisy...but does a fantastic job...."If"... any fail...in future we will replace with same brand
I’ve been living with this dehumidifier for a while now, and honestly, it’s a total beast. If you’ve ever dealt with that "basement smell" or soggy windows, this thing is a life-changer. I love the convenience of the Wi-Fi app for remote monitoring and the continuous drainage option, which saves me from manually emptying the tank every few hours… Read more
given its massive extraction power. However, it is a heavy unit that can be difficult to move on carpeted floors, the fan is quite loud on its highest setting, and the water tank design can be a bit fiddly to remove without occasional spills.
Despite these minor quirks, its sheer performance and smart features make it a reliable, high-capacity solution for anyone serious about moisture control

Thanks to the AusClimate Ambassador Programme, I was lucky enough to be chosen to test (and keep) the AusClimate Large+ 45L dehumidifier for a few weeks in a Brisbane Winter in exchange for an honest review. A bit of background: This isn’t my first experience with AusClimate dehumidifiers. My mum bought one a few years ago, and I was so impressed… Read more
with hers that I ended up buying one myself — just a different size and model. Since then, I’ve been recommending them to anyone who’ll listen. Honestly, once you try a proper dehumidifier, you won’t go back to those little damp-rid containers from the hardware store. The amount of water they collect is laughable compared to the litres a day you’ll get from a machine.
I first purchased the white AusClimate Cool Seasons 10L desiccant dehumidifier because I wanted something portable for bedrooms, bathrooms, the garage, and drying the odd load of laundry in wet weather. I regularly use it to dry out the bathroom during and after a shower and also like that it gives off a bit of warmth, so it can warm the bathroom up a little before a shower. If you set the timer and run it for a couple of hours after a shower not only will it dry out the shower recess and tiles, it will even dry your bath towels for you!!
I’d always planned to get an additional bigger compressor model for the larger open plan living areas (because compressor models don’t warm the air like desiccant ones, so they’re better for warmer climates) but in the meantime got by in Summer using the living room air conditioner’s “raindrop” dehumidifier setting .
So …. I was really happy to get the chance to test and keep the Large+ 45L compressor dehumidifier — now I have two options for all weather and room sizes!!
First impression: this model is big and heavy — my scales put it at 14.8 kg! Thankfully, it has wheels so you can easily roll it around on smooth floors like a spinner suitcase. Not so easy to move on carpet. Because of its large size it’s the kind of unit you pick a central spot (or two) for and leave it there. If you want to rotate through smaller rooms I would get a more compact and easy to pick up and carry model.
This size is perfect for daily use in open-plan areas like the living, dining, and kitchen spaces or larger bedrooms. Just keep an eye on moisture levels around houseplants and pet water bowls, as dehumidifiers can dry those out. I don’t have either, but I always remove reed diffusers before running a dehumidifier so they don’t evaporate too fast. Also the windows need to be closed whilst using. For this reason I don’t run the dehumidifier all day long as I like to open the windows and air out the house daily, even in Winter. When using, I regularly open all the cupboards and chests of drawers to give them a good drying out.
Understand that the tank doesn’t actually hold 45 litres but the machine is capable of extracting that much moisture from the air per day. When you first use it there will be an intense dry-down period where you are extracting large volumes of water from the rooms, walls and furnishings and cupboards. You will be shocked at the volumes of water it extracts and may have to empty the tank several times or use the drainage hose otherwise the machine will shut-off automatically when the tank is full. After this it is just daily use or every few days to maintain humidity levels and discourage mould and mildew. This model can connect to your smart devices so you can connect and monitor humidity levels remotely and have the option to programme in a schedule of when and how often you’d like to use it. I think this feature would be really handy for people that use dehumidifiers off site like in a storage shed or on a boat or caravan that is in storage.
I love that this dehumidifier displays the room’s humidity as soon as you turn it on, and lets you set a target humidity level for it to reach and maintain.
One of my favourite things about dehumidifiers is how they double as occasional clothes dryers — some even have a designated laundry mode.” My smaller Cool Seasons model has this, and it takes about 4–5 hours to dry a load on a clothes rack in a small room, with regular checks to rotate the clothes for even drying. I use it about once a week during Winter or wet weather. Because of its size, I expected this larger 45L model to dry clothes faster, but it didn’t — which surprised me. Also, the user manual was a bit confusing. It says “never use the appliance to dry clothes,” yet there’s a t-shirt icon on the electronic display (which I can only assume is laundry mode). The manual doesn’t mention this t-shirt mode at all, so that was puzzling.
The water tank is easy to slide out and empty, and the included drainage hose makes it simple to set up continuous drainage if you don’t want to keep emptying the tank.
Overall, I’m really happy with my AusClimate dehumidifiers. They’re from an Australian family-owned business and endorsed by Sensitive Choice. Their website is very helpful, explaining the difference between desiccant and compressor models, and they have a good range for all room sizes and climates. If this model isn’t right for you, I’m sure they have one that will be!
I’ve attached a photo of both my AusClimate dehumidifiers side by side for size comparison.
The unit was a welcome addition to an older 1970s house with poor insulation. We needed a Dehumidifier for the excess moisture we have in house due to lack of ventilation and insulation as well as Winter, we dry clothes inside, so this tended to lead to excess moisture overnight and the windows being wet to the touch. This led to over time paint… Read more
peeling and mold we had to clean every winter. We have had small units in past but this 35L unit was certainly more suited to our room size. Overall, the unit performs just as you need it too, amazing how much moisture you captured in such short time frames. Setup of the device was quite easy with the app and instructions and withing minutes you have it doing its thing. We have it set to come on for 2 hours early AM to prevent the windows from “crying” and leave on as we go to bed if washing has been hung to dry in the room. We are quite impressed by the unit and the app features, find using this the easiest way to control and schedule the unit. Considering if we now need a smaller one for the bathroom as it never seems to dry, so will certainly be looking at the Aus Climate range.
Pros • Easy setup out of the box • Generous water tank size • App support (via Wi-Fi) and great app that is easy to use and setup schedules and see the current humidity and temperature. • App and device alerts when tank is full • As a dehumidifier can’t go wrong, does what its intended to do, have noticed clothes dry a lot faster, has improved moisture content in home and led to less ‘damp’ • Unit is on wheels, easy to move around, generous power cord length and handle on top to left (don’t lift when full of water, heavy) • New grey colour is great, more modern look. Cons • Have had some issues with the Wi-Fi, device lost connectivity, need to re-add the unit back to app. So far best can tell once device is removed form power it can lose settings, but adding it back is not hard. • Seems to be no option to turn of the loud audible beep when the device turns off or off, scheduling this is great but if done when asleep, it can wake you up, would be good to be able to turn this off. • Controls on unit as not the best, ok for basics but for older people it may be hard to set the timer and settings, not everyone wants to use an app. • Tank when you empty can sometimes be hard to judge, would have been better with a pour spout built in.
What a game changer for caravan owners! It was great to see next to no plastic used in the packaging when we first unboxed the dehumidifier. It was packaged well and able to survive the postal delivery without issues. We decided to put this in our off grid camper trailer, which sits for a couple of months at a time between trips. We used to use… Read more
the Bunnings desiccant style, but resulted in alot of wasted plastic and sometime forgetting about them.
I setup the dehumidifier into our camper and plugged the power in, after a downloading the app and setting the device up on wifi we were away.
It is set to run for 6 hours a day, every day. You can set the desired humidity level which whilst is really cool, I have no idea what level is best…
Over 2 months it has filled its integrated tank twice, that’s 24L of moisture pulled from the air. No more musty smells or worrying about canvas or mould.
You could also put it in the bathroom area and instead of using the tank, just let it free drain, but for the purpose os trialling, I stuck with the tank to see how effective it was. It gave me alerts on my phone when the tank was full each time, meaning I could just go and empty it, and turn it back on…
It’s a 10/10 for me, if you have a caravan or camper and have access to 240v internally, then this is the best bang for buck you will get for peace of mind over moisture damage.

So I wasn't expecting much from this Ausclimate Dehumidifier. It's not something I was aware of and we live in a dry climate, but winter is different. I didn't even realise it's the DAMP that is affecting my mood. Probably sensory issues frankly but that heavy feeling I get on my skin in winter didn't happen this year. Anyway I set it up when it… Read more
arrived easily enough. It's got wheels and a sturdy handle although I just carried it to where I wanted it. Put it in the family room after reading the instructions. Downloaded the Ausclimate app and away we go. I just put it on auto because I have no idea what I'm doing. The kids had spotted the bucket bit at the bottom where the water collects by this time so we had a fiddle with that as well. That's it. I mostly forgot about it except for the colour of the light changing sometimes depending on what it's doing - until we had a bit of rain for the first time in a couple of months. I brought the washing in and hung it on the rack inside. When I woke up in the morning the light on the Dehumidifier was flashing and I could see from the indicator that the reservoir was full. So it's been quiet for weeks and suddenly it gets to work. The whole house was buzzing and I had to argue with the kids about drinking the water collected. That reservoir has to be carefully pulled out as it splashes a bit and I just poured it on my plants as it was heavy like a couple of litres at least and my kid put the empty reservoir back in the Dehumidifier for me. Too easy. I'm actually shocked. We get a bit of condensation on the windows in winter from the heater being on overnight. This year, everything is dry. I am sold on this product. The washing dried overnight instead of taking days when it's rainy outside. I imagine this would be amazing in Melbourne or Tassie to take that dampness you can feel out of the house. I got this one for free as part of the Ambassador program for doing the review so this was a massive score for me. I got an appliance I didn't even know was available that I needed and it's made enough of a difference in the house that my husband has commented on it. I can't tell if it's loud as I am Deaf but everyone else says it's quiet and not noticeable as well. The only thing I would say is don't dawdle getting the reservoir back into place as it drips a bit. Not a big deal considering the massive volume of water it's just pulling out of the air. Wild. This would go great down south instead of those big buckets of pink crystals that you just keep throwing out. Lovely. And it can be operated from your phone. I'm impressed.

Love this dehumidifier! I have two family members who suffer from asthma and here in QLD we can get very humid temperatures in summer, specially during those raining days and weeks of continuous rain. When I don't want to use the clothes dryer to avoid shrinking of certain clothes, this little machine helps to dry clothes much faster if you run in… Read more
the same room you have your clothes on a dryer rack. Another fight we have particularly during the wet and humid summer months is MOULD forming on the ceiling and some of the walls. We live in a very old house and we have had a yearly battle to clean mould. I am hopeful that will no longer be the case. I wish I had thought of using dehumidifiers before.
Good to note that dehumidifiers operate more effectively if windows and doors are kept closed whilst running.
What I love about this appliance from my experience: - This dehumidifier can run 24/7, but it only needs to be on for as long as it takes to dry up a room. You can set a timer for how long you would like to run the appliance it will automatically shut off at the end of the set time. - Clothes Dry setting to help dry your clothes faster during the months of increased humidity or raining days. - Helps to keep the moisture in the air lower to avoid mould growth during the humid and wet summer months which helps to minimize the health problems associated with mould such as asthma and allergy triggers. - Wi-Fi connectivity so you can control the appliance via an app on your phone. - Easy operation - very easy to operate the appliance once you download the Ausclimate App. We can easily switch between Dehumidification Mode button or Enviromentally Friendly Dehumidifier. We can select between Fan speed range from: LOW, MEDIUM, and HIGH or AUTO. You can choose the humidity percentage desired to achieve and also visualize the temperature of the room. I uploaded a video showing the noise level of the fan operation set on MEDIUM. - Safety: child lock feature so children can not change the settings whilst operating. - Quiet operation. This depends on how high the appliance is set up. On high, the dehumidifier will dry up a room a lot faster but you will be able to hear the fans going if you are in the same room during operation. - Extracts up to 20L of moisture per day and it has a 4L water tank that is very easy to remove and empty. - Running temperature 5 – 35°C - 4 years warranty is very decent
I live in Daylesford, in the central highlands of Victoria, which is a very damp area over the cooler months. We’ve had issues with high humidity in our old 1860’s brick house over the winter months in the past, with timber swelling, condensation on windows, and furniture and walls growing mould, and perhaps with hidden negative health impacts.… Read more
I’d been considering the utility of a dehumidifier, particularly for the damper rooms of the house - some of the bedrooms, and the cellar, but I wasn’t sure about how effective it would be, and how much power it would cost to run. We run two wood heaters in the house primarily for heating, but they have a secondary benefit in reducing humidity. They’re effective for the rooms they’re in, but have a limited effect for the rooms in the rest of the house.
So I was pleased when I was offered an opportunity to test out this compact dehumidifier in exchange for writing a review. This is a good sign that the company has confidence in their products. I’ve been putting this unit through its paces for over a month now, and below are my thoughts and observations.
I first used the dehumidifer in our primary bedroom, running it for 18 hours each day for multiple days, from 9 pm to 3 pm to take advantage of off-peak power rates. The relative humidity (RH) had been above 70% and a temperature of around 13ºC, but running the dehumidifier generally got the humidity down closer to 60%, extracting some 1.4 litres each day (running 18 hours). I achieved similar results in another bedroom and the sitting room, each with similar initial conditions, and each room between 30 and 50 m3.
I then tested the unit in our cellar, with a temperature of 9ºC and 80% RH. I was curious to see how well the dehumidifier would work at such cool temperatures, given that it’s a compressor-type dehumidifier, which are said to be less effective at cooler temperatures compared with the desiccant type dehumidifiers. The specifications state its operating temperatures are between 5ºC and 35ºC. Here the dehumidifier seemed to help reduce the humidity to around 75% (though it’s tricky to separate the effect of the dehumidifier from background fluctuations), extracting some 1.1 L over an 18 hour period. This demonstrates its reduction in performance with a reduction in temperature.
Finally, I used the unit to ventilate and dehumidify the enclosed under-floor space of our living room, where we’ve had a major issue with the wooden floor rotting out due to the high sub-floor humidity, which was measuring at 99% RH, 14ºC continuously according to my digital hygrometer/thermometer. I taped on some spare ducting to the intake vent of the dehumidifier, with the other end through the floor to suck air from under the floor. With this configuration, the steady state measurements of the dehumidifer were typically around 55% RH, 20ºC. Again running the unit for 18 hours per day, I reliably extracted 4.2 L/day, substantially more than the other locations. The under-floor humidity was surprisingly stubborn though; despite running the dehumidifier this way for more than two weeks, the lowest it dropped to was 92%. I guess there is a lot of moisture contained in the soil there, but I do hope to reduce that bank of soil moisture and get the humidity down by continuing to run the dehumidifier there.
So why wasn’t I able to achieve the 12L/day extraction quoted in the marketing material? I can only assume that was because that figure is for 30ºC and 80% RH, and performance presumably drops with temperature and humidity. We never get close to observing such conditions here; in our cool temperate climate, we have damp cool winters and dry hot summers. Perhaps for people in sub-tropical or tropical climates this might be realistic? But for everyone else, maybe this sets customers expectations too high?
Note that we generally left the doors of the rooms we were dehumidifying open, for heat transfer from the wood heaters, and since I didn’t mind dehumidifying the rest of the house a little. Also note that our house is relatively drafty, so more external air would be entering our house compared to a well-sealed house, and this air is generally humid in the cooler months. With those points in mind, and having never used a dehumidifier before, I can only assume that the performance I’ve observed is typical of a compressor-type unit in our situation, so I’m satisfied with its performance. If you dehumidify a more enclosed space, and/or your home is better sealed, you’ll presumably observe larger drops in humidity.
Other Impressions:
Aesthetics: it looks sleek and aesthetically pleasing to my eye. I like the LED which shines blue, green or red depending on the humidity so you can observe the humidity at a glance. The digital reading of the humidity on top of the machine is also easy to see.
Usability: it’s easy to learn the operation, and the control panel is simple to use. It comes with a basic set of options which are not overwhelming. I made use of the timer extensively. I only really needed to run it in continuous mode, as the humidity never really reduced to my desired level, but others may find the auto mode useful, where the unit shuts itself off when the space reaches a desired humidity. The tank is easy to empty and reinstall. It has a transparent window so you can see the water level at a glance.
Portability: Marketed as a compact machine, it is fairly small, so you could pack it away while not in use. It has four castor wheels so you can push it around on a floor easily, and weighing some 10 kg makes it easy to carry from A to B.
Sleep Mode: It has a sleep mode which runs the fan at low speed, with the light off and precludes any alarms/beeps. I tested it in this mode on one night, but I still found the fan noise a little disruptive to my sleep; my partner found the same. Perhaps I’d get used to it over time? More noise-tolerant folk may be fine with this.
Smart Connectivity: It has smart connectivity, which I eventually got around to exploring. We have a Wi-Fi router without internet connectivity, and despite several attempts, I wasn’t able to connect to it with the app over this network. I confirmed with support that internet is required, despite this not being mentioned in the specifications or user manual. However, I was able to connect using the Wi-Fi hotspot from my partner's phone, and once connected, I seemed to have retained connectivity via bluetooth, as I can still operate the controls without Wi-Fi hotspot being available.
App Control: the app seems fine. It offers all the functionality that the buttons on the machine provide, and in addition the ability to set schedules which I’ve found useful. I’ve set it to run from 3pm - 9 pm every day to take advantage of off-peak power rates. Then all I need to do is empty the tank a few times per day. I connected it to Alexa so I can operate it with voice commands and can confirm this works. The app also shows you the current temperature as well as the current humidity. Overall the smart functionality is better than I expected.
Tank Volume: I measured the tank volume at 2.1L, slightly more than the 2L specified. This was just large enough to run continuously over-night in it’s most productive location without the tank filling and shutting the unit down before I woke up and emptied it (allowing for 9 hours sleep). Note that one can effectively expand the tank capacity by connecting a hose to the outflow. I also tested this using the supplied 1m plastic hose connected to the outflow, running into a 5 L saucepan. I can confirm this also worked, though it was less reliable than I expected because it seemed to have trouble pushing out through the hose, and occasionally reverted to dripping back into the tank instead. Bending the hose down more where it joins onto the outlet nozzle seemed to help.
Build Quality: it seems well-built and of reasonable quality. I didn’t notice anything that seemed flimsy and liable to break. I also note it comes with a 4 year domestic warranty which seems about as good as I could hope for, for this kind of appliance.
Power Consumption: It consumes a modest 150-160 W of power in the conditions I’ve used it, happily less than the rated 200 W listed in the specifications (which is for 30ºC 80%RH). It’s probably less than 150 W on average when including the defrost cycles. Assuming 150 W, this equates to around 3.6 kWh/day if you run it full-time, or about $1.08 per day if you’re paying $0.30/kWh for electricity. This is around $394/year, which seems a significant enough cost - however, note my next point. Going forward, I plan to run ours predominately off our solar generation for better value.
Bonus Heating: based on thermodynamics, the dehumidifier must heat the space at least equivalent to its power consumption - in my case, ~150W. In addition, the room must also receive the latent heat of vaporisation from condensing gaseous water to liquid. This heat is a bonus in our use case, as we probably only need to run it in the cooler months when we’re already having to heat the room with a wood heater (with the possible exception of dehumidifying under the floor). If I’m condensing 4.2L of water in 18 hours as per my measurements while dehumidifying the under-floor cavity, that’s equivalent to the latent heat of vaporisation of water (2,260 kJ/kg) times 4.2 kg = 9492 kJ. A kWh is equivalent to 3600 kJ, so 9492 kJ is 2.64 kWh. And as per my above point, the unit consumed 0.15*18=2.7 kWh. That’s an efficiency of (2.64+2.7)/2.7 = 198%, or more correctly, a coefficient of performance of about 2. However, in the case of my under-floor cavity this would be an over-estimate, since the water would be entering the cavity through the ground as a liquid, and the evaporation from the ground in the floor cavity would produce a cooling effect (taking heat), before that vapour is then recondensed, re-releasing that heat into the room. The equivalent for the bedroom scenario is 2260kJ/kgx1.4L = 3164kJ = 0.88 kWh, giving an efficiency of heating of (2.7 + 0.88)/2.7 = 133% (COP = 1.33). Thus if you’re running any kind of electric heater that’s not a reverse-cycle air conditioner (i.e. 100% efficiency), and you have a humidity problem, then the dehumidifier offers lower running costs for heating! Assuming you have sufficient humidity, you’d be better off running dehumidifiers than electric heaters! Assuming the cost of a dehumidifier is more than an electric heater, you could easily calculate the pay-back period for the dehumidifier running as a heater, and I wouldn’t be surprised if it’s less than the 4 year warranty period of the dehumidifier in many situations, and that’s not even considering the improved humidity! Why don’t Ausclimate put this in their marketing material? For example, if I paid $350 for the dehumidifier and ran it full-time for six months of the year, I’d get a free 1.2 kWh per day compared to an electric heater for the same electricity consumption. For electricity at $0.30/kWh, this would save $128 per year, or $64 per year if running the dehumidifier for six months of the year. That’s a payback period of $350/($64/year)=5.5 years if you obtained the electric heater for free - or a shorter payback period if you paid for the heater or get the dehumidifier cheaper than $350.
As a clothes drier: I didn’t test the unit for drying clothes as we dry ours with our wood fires, but I wanted to make the point that it’d be much more cost-effective using a rack of clothes beside the dehumidifier than using a clothes drier. This is because the electrical energy consumed by the clothes drier is expelled outside, while that of the dehumidifier remains in the room as heat, again assuming you want the additional heat. I also suspect that the warm air that the dehumidifier blows out would be fairly effective for drying clothes.
Refrigerant: I note that the compressor uses the R290 refrigerant, i.e. propane. This is great, as it’s global warming potential is only 3 - much lower than alternative refrigerants that have been commonly used.
Summary I’ve had a positive experience with this dehumidifier and despite my critical eye, I cannot really fault it. I’ve had it running for much of the past month and it hasn’t skipped a beat. It’s satisfying to be able to extract moisture from the air. The compactness of the unit means I can easily move it to where I need it, whenever I need it. I can see this portability coming in handy for when we have particular moisture issues crop up. With the caveat that a dessicant-type dehumidifier may work better than this compressor type for folks in cooler climates with cooler spaces, and that a larger unit may be needed for larger spaces, I can happily recommend this dehumidifier.

I was excited to finally try the Ausclimate Medium 20L Dehumidifier. I had been wanting one for years and now I wish I had bought one sooner. This unit is truly impressive.
I decided to read the manual first because we all should do that but of course most of us never do. Unfortunately, it was brief and not very helpful. I turned to YouTube for guidance, but there were no setup videos available.
There was also confusion around the included drainage tube for continuous use. The manual said one needs to be purchased separately, while the website claimed it was included. The tube that came with our unit did not appear to fit properly. It seems to belong to a different model. Clear instructions on how to use it would be appreciated, as the manual does not explain this part well at all.
We were also unsure how to position the unit. Should the back face the space where you are trying to remove moisture? Since air is drawn in from the rear and expelled from the top, a little guidance here would have been helpful.
After giving up on the manual, we tried using the app. Unfortunately, the QR code was not user friendly. It simply directed us to the Ausclimate website, which then asked us to search for the app manually in our app store. It would have been far more convenient if direct download links were provided. This felt like a missed opportunity to offer better customer service.
That said, once we installed it, the app turned out to be excellent. It makes using the unit much easier compared to the onboard controls.
We started testing the unit in our main bedroom. In just two hours of use, it collected 385ml of water. On day two, after five hours, it had collected another 930ml. This shows just how much moisture was building up in our bedroom, and it is not even summer yet.
Here is a useful tip: if you have solar panels, run the unit during times of solar production to save on energy costs. If you do not have solar, try to use it during off-peak electricity hours.
We are now looking forward to seeing how the unit performs during the more humid summer months. It has already made a big difference.
This Ausclimate Medium 20L Dehumidifier, with its very quiet fan and nice design is highly recommended by us for our average sized home. You will not be disappointed with your purchase.

We live in a cold, damp mountain area, and in winter the moisture in the air becomes a real issue. Dehumidifier to try and honestly, it’s been one of the best additions we’ve made for the house. It pulled litres of water from the air within the first day — I couldn’t believe how much moisture we’d been living with. The house now feels warmer, drier, and more comfortable. My asthma has improved, and our baby’s room stays cosy and dry, which gives me so much peace of mind. When we wake up sometimes we see clouds below us as we are in a mountain and with so many weather events like the tornado and cyclone this is very important to use on our home .
I love gadgets, and this one ticks all the boxes. The WiFi control is a brilliant feature — being able to check and adjust it from my phone is super handy, especially when I’ve got my hands full. The panel is also very easy to read also . It’s really quiet too, so we can run it during naps or overnight without it being a problem.
The size is perfect — it’s powerful enough to handle larger spaces but compact and light enough to easily move from room to room. That versatility has been a huge plus for us. We use it in the living area during the day and roll it into the bedrooms at night if needed.
On top of all that, it actually looks good. Sleek, modern and not bulky or industrial-looking like some others we considered.
If you have asthma or allergies, or just want to improve your home’s air quality, I’d absolutely recommend this. Because our little one sleeps in our room it’s important she is not affected by the air quality . It’s smart, effective, and has made a real difference to our daily comfort and health.
Very easy product to review it does exactly what it says and exceeded what I expected. Easy to use is what I look for in all of our products we use at home . Yes I was offered incentive for writing this review and I never would’ve thought about purchasing one but it really has exceeded my expectations and I . personally recommend it to anyone living in the area of such as house specially with so many weatherevents in Australia at the moment

The controls are simple and intuitive. I like that it maintains the set humidity level automatically and the digital display makes it easy to monitor. The available features are practical for everyday use and its compact design makes it easy to move between rooms if needed.
Overall I’ve been really impressed by how effective and user friendly it is. It’s made a real difference in our home.

I am a fan of Ausclimate products I have the pedestal fan so was excited to try this through the ambassador program. I have used this 25L dehumidifier on and off for the last month. I didn’t know much about humidifiers as I thought they were like an air cooler for summer so I was about to get an education. First, it’s a nice-looking machine,… Read more
compact and I like the controls are on the top and clear and simple to use and read. The App was very easy to install and connect to WIFI with Bluetooth with basic functions, you can power it on and off, change the modes and lets you know what the indoor humidity is and the temp of the room. You can turn off the unit lights for night and adjust the fan. It would be good if it noted the room temp and humidity and suggested the perfect recommended cycle for you as it is a bit hard to get your head around what the humidity should be at unless you do a bit of research. I was keen to try this in our bedroom as it is in the shadiest part of the house and every morning the windows have water condensation running down them and the start of wood rot ruining my timber around the windows and causing black mold. Previously to try and combat this we used the silica beads with the cage which never lasted long and felt like it only helped for about 30cm around the cage.
Initially I did a deep dry for three days as recommended from the Ausclimate videos on YouTube. I found the videos very clear and handy and easier to understand than the manual. This is a compressor model and being in the middle of winter here in VIC I was wondering if the desiccant model would have been a better choice for us as when I did my research, I read that the desiccant models run better in colder weather. We found this out as during the night even with the night mode on it sounded like the motor was kicking in and out and waking us up but the next morning after looking up the error code on the unit I read it was because it was so cold in our room that the coils were freezing over and that was the way the unit defrosted itself. After the three days of deep drying in the main bedroom I was impressed how much water this unit collects and guess what, dry windows for a week afterwards even though the cars outside had frosted over and had condensation. You don’t need to constantly run the dehumidifier after the three days, after a deep dry you can just use it now and then to keep on top of things. Night mode is no louder than a normal fan running and you can also turn the lights off if you are sensitive to night lights. With maximum water it apparently automatically shuts off to avoid leaks, I never let ours fill completely as I emptied it twice during dry mode and it was as full as my photo showed with my pointing at the level. Also has a drain hose so if you use it in the bathroom you can put the hose in the sink and not worry about emptying the tank. Otherwise use the collected water to water your indoor plants. The air actually feels crisper after use, hard to explain as previously the bedroom and wardrobe smelt a little musty and after using this machine the air feels fresher. There is no condensation on the windows or foggy mirrors and the showers are dry in a few hours. Perfect for this time of year when you barely open outdoor windows and doors.
I also have a leaking shower base in our en-suite which we found when we noticed carpet rot in our spare room that backs onto our en-suite. I have shown a video of how much water was collected in this room after already doing a 3-day dry and this was the top up dry a week later of 1.5 days of use. Impressive and glad to keep the water at bay until we get it fixed.
The unit is easy to maneuver from room to room we have thin carpet, I think it would be harder to maneuver on thick carpet as the unit is pretty heavy. The side handles are handy. I have also used this in the laundry, we have an indoor hanging space for clothes and they usually take 4-5 days to dry properly in winter as there is no direct heating in there. With this machine running on dry mode the clothes are dry the next day. Apparently, it is also cheaper to use this machine rather than the dryer. The clothes also smelt cleaner as sometimes if I have a lot of clothes hanging they can be a bit musty smelling and I have to rewash them. I also leave the door open of the washing machine to help dry it out and stop future odors.
To finish my review I found the videos to be far more informative than the manual. The manual was a bit confusing and I found myself drifting off reading it thinking about other things. We found great benefit with this machine reducing the condensation in winter and reducing musty smells and drying out the rooms and we now use this machine every now and then to stay on top of things. Great also for drying the washing in winter and being winter, I was still amazed how much water this unit collected from the environment, and I am keen to use it in the summer also and see how it performs and to see if we can use this instead of our split system which is expensive to run. I like this unit so much I am going to get the larger one for our family room. This would also be amazing to help dry out carpets and drapes after steam cleaning them. I was discussing this with a friend and she Is going to purchase the smaller unit for her camper trailer which has a mold problem. This is the machine you never thought you needed!
Find out how Ausclimate Compressor Dehumidifiers Range compares to other Dehumidifiers
Know better, choose better.
I was sent this to try as part of the Product Review Ambassador program. We have often had mould issues in previous places, so have often used dehumidifiers. Up until now, we've had a smaller one which did the job, but this one is a whole step up. The first obvious step up from our previous dehumidifier is that this can hold a lot of water. So,… Read more
we thought we would be emptying it less often.
But, that leads to the second step up - it feels up more quickly than our previous one. Even when used in the same room. So, it seems to be far more efficient than what we've been used to. We've been pretty impressed with it.
It's not particularly loud. I can't imagine anyone sleeping in a room with a dehumidifier on, but it would be perfect to have on during the day after using a vaporiser (as we have often done if our kids are a bit blocked up) and you wouldn't need to worry about noise.
Looks wise, it looks modern without standing out. It's easy to move around, and easy to control. The controls are pretty obvious (see photos). There could be a slightly more informative display, but it's generally pretty clear what it's telling you.
One note from the manual is not to use it to dry clothes. I don't know why, as I suspect this would be a common use, especially during winter (shorter days) or rainy periods. We dry our clothes in our garage during these periods and have had the dehumidifier on in there. We haven't had any issues with anything. I wouldn't put clothes directly on it to dry them - as I suspect that's what the comment in the manual may be about. We've also moved it around to other rooms, including carrying it upstairs. It's not too heavy for most people and has a handle.
Our previous dehumidifier was quite thin, and we knocked it over a few times when we bumped into it, with water going everywhere. We've bumped this a few times, and it's far more stable - we haven't knocked it over under similar circumstances.
So overall, pretty impressed! It's a bigger unit than what we had before, can hold more, is heaps more efficient, is quiet enough, looks good and works well. We're really happy with it.

Wow! What a Bonza little unit. Sleek quiet and stylish and boy does it do the job!. I live in a rental with no exhaust fans or heating and when I take a shower, the room is full of steam. the difference. The dehumidifier just worked quietly removing all of the moisture from the air so that when I got out of the shower, the room was clear of steam. No condensation on the windows or basin or mirrors. A very sturdy efficient machine and the moisture taken out of the air was in a very easy to empty container. I can’t wait to try it in summer humidity.
I’ve been a long time user of a dehumidifier at home so I was really pleased to get the chance to try out this Ausclimate unit for review. The Ausclimate dehumidifier is a great little device. especially after rain. For the past 12 years I’ve been using a huge noisy Amcor unit the size of a portable air conditioner.
The Ausclimate is one third the size of my old machine and works better (and costs a third of the price). It also uses a lot less power to run.
The Ausclimate has an easy to set up app so I found I never really needed to push any buttons on the unit. It was fully controlled from my iPhone. The only issue I had was initially connecting to the device. You have to make sure to connect your phone via the 2.4 GHz to your router as this device didn’t allow for the 5 GHz connections for the initial setup.
Different modes include auto, which allows you to set the minimum humidity, continuous, which is great for putting next to your wet washing, and finally sleep mode for quiet operation at night. We dry clothes inside on a clothes horse in front of the heater and placing the unit next to the clothes filled the reservoir in just a few hours.
I used overnight once or twice a week in sleep mode and never noticed the noise of the machine while I slept.
I broke my arm the day after I received the unit for review, so emptying the reservoir was done one handed multiple times no problem!
I found that running the machine twice a week for around 12 hours at a time was filling the reservoir and notably keeping the room dry.
I really like this product. It looks good, while its size and quiet operation means it is discrete, and does a great job of removing moisture from the air.
Received for assessment under the Ambassador programme. Firstly, packaging was first rate, build construction very high quality - that compressor is magnificent in appearance! Discharge water reservoir intuitive to remove and replace, with a good level indicator ... although what you're seeing in the indicator panel is the actual water in the… Read more
tank - there's no hiviz colour indicator or such, so if the level is very full or empty it will be hard to discern. An attached drainage hose is available as an option with this unit - to save having to monitor and empty the tank, however our unit did not have this option.
Provided manual is in English only - not an inch thick with 15 different languages - and written well ... reasonably free of weird translational glitches. With the goods as presented, an average user could have it opened and deployed within 4 or 5 minutes.
Controls are easily interpreted, and are of the soft press with tone type. Main indicator display has an illuminated encircling light that shows blue, green or red depending upon ambient humidity levels, and the ambient humidity readout. There's a sleep function if that's important to you, and a childlock, however having no young children we did not test this feature. Very useful sweep function which swung the fan direction up and down for better air distribution.
Noise level perfectly comfortable.
This gear has an embedded app for remote linking, and it's one of the better ones we've seen. The app feature allows the user full functionality which we tested very successfully from our second property 350km away. Interestingly the app displays ambient temperature as well as humidity whereas the machine itself only displays humidity.
Unfortunately we received the unit slapbang in the middle of winter, traditionally low humidity in our region. However over a couple of weeks we did record some higher humidity days, and can confirm its capabilities. We did note that despite running constantly for an entire day it was not able to achieve its minimum humidity setting of 30% ... although it came admirably close at 33% ... against an ambient in the 60's. It was well and truly enough to perceive a noticeable difference in the room though.
Notwithstanding this, I believe this machine will be a godsend in our sweltering Queensland humidity come summer, and should bridge the gap between activating expensive air-conditioning, and simply toughing it out nicely. It has a power usage in the high 400's of watts - a far cry from the thousands the aircons use ... so an extremely useful adjunct which has the potential to pay for itself in short order. It'll go down as one of those useful things you never even knew you needed!
Nothing of particular note to detract from a perfect score here.

I was excited to get the opportunity to review this unit, as I have several environments in which to test it. Setup with this unit is easy, just a matter of removing the… Read more
usual bits of packing and protective tape, and plugging it in. I downloaded the ausclimate app, and the instructions for connecting to WiFi were simple and straightforward. Beware, though: if you have an adblocker like AdGuard on your phone, it can interfere with the connection process, so make sure it's off while you're trying to pair!
The first task I gave the ausclimate Medium 20L Dehumidifier was a pretty standard 4x3m carpeted bedroom. This wasn't a particularly humid room, and if anything was about the same humidity as the rest of the house, but was a little musty. Setting the dehumidifier on a 2 hour timer with the target humidity at 35% was easy, and off it went. I closed the bedroom door and windows, so as to extract as much from the room itself as possible. When the timer had reached zero, I had about 600ml of water to empty from the removable tank onto plants or into the aquarium. Pretty impressive.
If you feel like running the unit permanently in the corner of a room and automatically watering indoor plants nearby, there's also an included hose to help!
The second task I gave this unit was a slightly damper environment... the bathroom. Once again, I set the timer for 2 hours, and closed the room up. After 2 hours, humidity had dropped from around 70% to just under 40%, and I had another 600ml of water for the aquarium.
As a stress test, I set the unit to 3 hours in the bathroom, during and following a hot shower. The display was reading "Hi" instead of a percentage, so I assume the humidity was at least 80-90%. This didn't prove much of a challenge; after the 3 hour timer was up, humidity was back down to 35% and the unit had pulled over a litre of water out of the air.
One of the advertised benefits of this dehumidifier was for drying of clothes. Since it doesn't heat the room, or at least not very much, I was sceptical as to how effective it would be at drying 4x of my work uniforms (long sleeve hi-vis shirts and heavy drill pants.) Once again, the ausclimate surprised, doing a very good job of drying out all of the garments in 4 hours.
The ausclimate 20L dehumidifier is rated at 300w consumption, which sounds like a lot of power, but not when compared to a conventional clothes dryer of 2200-2300w. At this rate, when the ausclimate can dry the same load of clothes in 4 hours that my dryer takes 1-1.5 hours to do, the dehumidifier is a long way ahead on power consumption, and the moisture is captured as a bonus.
Noise-wise, the ausclimate is very quiet. It makes about as much noise as a small fan heater or a floor fan. Being able to adjust the fan speed and also have the vane fanning back and forth for clothes is a nice touch. If you're a fan of white noise to sleep by, you could easily run this overnight and dehumidify while you're at it. You could use a split system to do the same trick, but this unit is almost guaranteed to use less power.
Value? The ausclimate range isn't particularly cheap. But as with everything, it depends whether you want to invest wisely or buy a cheap unit that doesn't have to last as long. The ausclimate has a decent warranty that you can extend with registration, and I haven't researched dehumidifier warranties but I'd bet that 4 years is among the best out there. It's easy to baulk at the price of these, but quality isn't cheap, especially these days. I'd say that if you need a quality dehumidifier, these are a good bet.
Pros: - Quiet - Effective - Handy app - Not too bulky - Easy to empty - Easy to move room to room
Cons: - Not the cheapest - App setup can catch you out
All in all, if you are in the market for a quality dehumidifier, you can't do much better than the ausclimate units. Will be interesting to see how they measure up long-term, and how good the customer support is, but so far they're a winner.

I am a great supporter of AusClimate and own nearly all of their dehumidifiers. Since I needed some extra dehumidifiers I bought the New 25, 35 and Large +45 dehumidifiers. The dehumidifiers are very stylish and much more quiet than the older ones.… Read more
Also, it seems the heat they produce is much less. However, comparing all of them, for me the Large +45 is the worse and the least value for money. We recently had a water pipe busted and I put the dehumidifier to dry the carpet. After 6 hours I didn't notice any difference. Then I pulled the old 50L All season Dehumidifier and in 4 hours the carpet was crispy dry. What I also noticed is the fact that the water container is the same size as the 35 L. I am not sure about the difference in the power between them but a part of the different distribution of the buttons, they seem to be identical. I totally agree with other reviewer who would rather buy the older 50L Al season dehumidifier on discounted price than this new version.

is ideal, immediately adjusting up to 55%, noting that last year we had no dehumidification. ***end edit*** Got it from Appliances Online early October. Gold Coast Qld, master bedroom. Right away it started filling the 3.5L tank about once a day. Set the humidity to 40%, but could not and cannot get below 50% (I'm not on eco mode either). Since we open the windows for sleep anyway (until hot and humid comes later), decided to just shut it off every day around 3pm. Back on 7 next day (aligns with solar power wakeup), with bedroom windows and door closed. Content with all of that. Note that this is a new model, swing air flaps, eco mode, auto fan setting, WIFI and and app. I get a notification when tank is full, which is easy to empty as the lid pops off. Would recommend, perhaps it should be one size up. It's a big bedroom with ensuite and walk in robe.

opportunity arose to test out the Ausclimate dehumidifier, I was very eager to give it a go.
The dehumidifier is compact enough that it doesn’t get in the way, but also quite heavy, giving me confidence in its build. It’s very easy to maneuver with it’s caster wheels.
Setup was as simple as plugging it in and choosing the humidity level I wanted. I was impressed to find this also connects to an app, giving me further information (like room temperature), and being able to manage the dehumidifier from my phone. Connecting to the app was seamless and I have had no issues with it.
Noise level is minimal, especially when running the fan at low speed (video attached shows noise level with fan at high speed). Power consumption is rated at 300W, so isn’t going to run the power bills up. I also appreciated the visual aids showing a red light bar when the humidity level is above the desired level and a green light bar when it is within range. Having a safety lock button is also handy but I would definitely keep this unit out of reach of little ones. I would have liked some extra information in the manual in regards to settings, but with a bit of trial and error I have been able to work out what works for us.
I ran a test over two consecutive days. The weather was similar (damp Melbourne winter) and the outside humidity was almost identical. Day one I used the dehumidifier. Pre-shower, the humidity was at 68% and returned to this level within 20 minutes of finishing my shower. I was able to leave the dehumidifier on to maintain a much lower humidity than when I began. Day two I didn’t use the dehumidifier. Pre-shower the humidity level was at 70% and it took two and half hours to return to the same level post shower.
I would normally wipe my bathroom ceiling over fairly regularly. Since using the Ausclimate dehumidifier I haven't had to do this. Knowing the humidity level is now at a more reasonable level, I am not worried about the effects it could have, not only on the bathroom itself, but also with my belongings in my walk in wardrobe. Clearly, the Ausclimate dehumidifier does the job, and does it well!
Follow-up · It's been a few months since receiving this humidifier and we are really happy with it. It's being used daily. We have no more mould or damp issues in our ensuite / walk in. We put it on when getting into the shower, set the timer to turn off after an hour and empty it every few days. Really happy with this product.

I've owned 2 older AusClimate dehumidifiers (50 + 35 l models) since 2017; they're still going strong. I recently had some water damage in one of my properties after a massive hailstorm event in SEQ and needed more drying capacity, so I bought and added their latest 45 l model. This is my experience with it: The good: - does what it's supposed… Read more
to do
- quieter than the older models
- doesn't produce as much heat as the previous models
- is lighter than previous models and has a handle on top which makes carrying it up some stairs easier
The not so good:
- water reservoir design is plain st>pid compared to the older models. Next to impossible to remove and empty it without spilling water.
- while it comes with a short 10 mm hose for continuous operation, this seems to be working only in a passively gravity-driven way, i.e. the periphal end of the very short hose needs to be positioned lower than where it attaches to the device. That makes continous operation next to impossible to use. In contrast, the old 50 l unit came with a long hose (several m) and the water was actively pumped, so you could put it in a bathroom basin, laundry or kitchen sink while positioning the unit in the middle of the room.
- The new unit comes with Wifi connectivity, but you can only control it remotely when your device with the corresponding app is on the same Wifi-network, i.e. you cannot control it when you're away from home. When you use the unit in several places with different Wifi networks you need to manually configure and connect it each time again; it doesn't store Wifi settings for more than one network. In essence, this Wifi connectivity is utterly pointless and only does what a standard remote control would do. The real purpose here seems to be to have users install the app and mine their data. And of course, the app will only work if 'location' is enabled and access permitted...
In summary, improvements with weight, noise, and heat production which are unfortunately offset by other shortcomings, like very limited usability of continuous operation, bad water reservoir design, and pointless Wifi connectivity.
If I had the choice, I would rather have another older 50 l unit.

reflect the unit now able tom get to 40% humidity. I have no idea why it wouldn't at first. *** Got the 45L ACD245 couple of weeks after the 20L ACD220, mid October. Surprised the ACD245 isn't that much bigger than the 220, but it is heavier. Easy moving on tiles thanks to the castors. Expected it to be the same as the 220, but it's not. Doesn't have eco mode, auto fan, swing vents. WIFI set up is much different to the 220, had to push a button on the 245. Got there eventually. Unit is for main open living area, Gold Coast Queensland. Unike the 220, the 245 unit is able to get below 50%, indeed it can get to the setting of 40%. In the morning it'll get from 65% to 55% in about 3 hours, then over the day to or below 50%. We just shut it off when it gets near 50%, by then it's pumping heat. No point in power consumption with marginal benefit. So it's on at 0700 (solar power alignment), but off by around 3 or 4pm. First use, has taken 2 days to fill the 5 litre tank (current humidity). Emptying the tank is awkward. Unlike the 220, you cannot remove the 245 lid because of the carrying handle design. You have to pour it out of an exposed corner where the float is, but if the tank is full, water will spill out from the lid seams. For me I'll just empty it over the pool. Into a sink or toilet will be messy. I still like the performance, but the ACD245 design isn't as refined as the ACD220, which is referred to as a "Smart" dehumidifier... the ACD245 is not. I still wanted this brand, and needed the high capacity....

the door shut and could definitely feel a difference in the air between the room and the rest of the house. We've had a bit of rain about in the last few weeks, and you can feel the air was cleaner and less humid in the bedroom for sure. The carpet seemed drier and less musty. Within hours of running it, we could feel the difference. We are looking forward to using it in summer when things get typically humid in Brisbane.
It feels like a solid, well-built unit. The castor wheels make it easy to move around, and it's compact enough to tuck away when not in use.
If you’re dealing with high humidity, mould, or just want to maintain a healthier home, the Ausclimate 35L Dehumidifier is absolutely worth it. Highly recommended!
