Used to be great, now terrible – I used to recommend AusBBS to people - they were cheap, delivered the speeds that I paid for, easy to deal with and generally a good mob. That was until I got an email on the 1st of November that they were being taken over immediately by Southern Phone. From that point they have declined considerably, and I'm now waiting out my billing period to… Read more
churn to another ISP. For a start, they said in the email that I would be contacted about switching to a new provider - this was a lie. Without me agreeing or consenting to anything, I seem now to be a Southern Phone customer - they have even been given my credit card information by AusBBS - I was waiting for them to contact me to discuss my options re: plans, etc. but no contact was made, however I have been charged for a month's internet by Southern Phone. I didn't realise it would be legal to just give a customer's info to another business without the customer's consent. I'm not under a contract with AusBBS and have always been a month to month customer, so I really should have been contacted to discuss things rather than just switching me to Southern and hoping I didn't notice.
AusBBS-Amaysim-Southern Phone-Avoid Them All – (12-12 Update) While I was chasing up my lost phone service during the transfer period I sent my AusBBS transfer notification to ACMA. Noting there was no mention of termination rights in the notification they contacted me and asked if AusBBS had advised me of my termination rights in any way which of course they hadn't. They pointed out that… Read more
AusBBS was obligated under the TCP Code to advise me of my termination rights and non compliance meant Southern Phone was then among other things obligated to ask for my permission to take over my service. These obligations must be met before a transfer takes place. If these obligations weren't met and you've been adversely affected by your transfer I'd suggest you contact Southern and then the TIO if you're not satisfied. In my case Southern has reimbursed my Telstra connection fee and waived my November bill before it went to the TIO. I'm sure ACMA would also be interested if these obligations weren't met. These companies are not trustworthy. (My 12-11 review) As other reviewers have noted they were good a few years back but in current dealings with them chasing my missing phone service their customer service has been terrible. That bad I'm even counting down the days (6) until Telstra, yes it's that bad, takes over our service. Save yourself some stress and avoid. (15-11 update) - I did a more detailed review of AusBBS on the Amaysim page because since 2016 they have owned AusBBS. The fuller story here so you can judge this company. I was notified on 1-11 my phone service was being shuffled off (sold I presume) to Southern Phone sometime during this month. No consultation, no warning, it could've happened the next day, no concern for privacy etc. and I've never been under contract with them in my three years of data-phone now phone only service on the NBN. Presumptuous I thought but six days later for the first time in my three years on the NBN my phone was dead and is still dead. Because I have a terminally ill mother here who can only use her pendant phone I've been trying hard to get service restored. I've asked Customer and Tech Service during the first week if the move to Southern may have led to our service being cut off and was told it's possible but they don't know. I did suggest they could ring and find out and if so get it reconnected but for some reason they weren't interested in that suggestion and they are still "investigating". I did contact Amaysim Customer Service coming up to three days back now and apart from their confirmation email had no response as yet but I do now have my own person looking after my case aka Case Man. Just from the way Customer-Tech Service and now Case Man have spoken to me since my first call I've never believed they had any intention of restoring my service until it went to Southern Phone. 4 sleeps until Telstra take over. (19-11 update) - I never heard from Case Man again after his first call 14-11 and despite their confirmation email 13-11 Amaysim Customer Service never got back to me. My phone line has been dead for coming up to 12 days. Telstra took over this morning and my service was restored in minutes. I think that says it all about Amaysim-AusBBS.
Completely incompetent of providing anything resembling a service – Do not waste your time with these muppets. - Once they have your credit card they will continue to charge it after you have cancelled the service. - They never answer the phone (try to ring them) - They rarely respond to emails I had to cancel my credit card to stop the fraudulent charges against my card and take them to the TIO. The TIO made them refund the $1,200 they charged my credit card. Never again. Be warned.... Show details

Happy and no issues – Unlimited NBN six months now. Totally reliable. Never a glitch - speed is as stated. Great priced. When i contacted them - were helpful and have not needed to contact very much as no issues with service Show details
Good Overall Service – Set-up process took around a week and a bit after that being connected for a 25/5mb speed connection it's been reliable so far no frequent drop-outs or extremely rare for it to happen. Overall speed is good and customer service is great as well. Show details
Very good customer service – The tech support lady had the patience of a saint getting Nbn configured. Sometimes connection is a little slow, but overall very happy with the company. Had Adsl with them too prior to Nbn, again, good experience, no problems. Would recommend this company to others. Show details

Worst internet provider on the market, Do not use AusBBS – For the time i was with ausbbs i had slow to no internet, wait times on the phone was never under 30mins, one time i was on hold for 45mins waiting to speak to someone and when the phone was finally answered it sounded like i was taken off the hook and placed on a desk because i could hear people talking in the background but no one spoke to me.… Read more
After cancelling they charged me 2 more billing cycles and tryed to withdraw money from my account after a specifically told them not to as i was contesting the charges whilst contrasting my final charges the have proceeded tp add late fees to my bill and for a laugh threated to diconnect my service... lol any way they have destroyed my credit rating over $145 of disputed charges. Aviod useing them at all costs!!!!!
Terrible speed, poor support – I was using their service as it came with a phone and internet package. They took 3 months to get nbn onsite setup boxes and connection done. The service was alright for couple months then one day the speed started to drop to 2mbps, which even worst than 56k dialup. I couldnt deal with it anymore and called support. wasting time, first with a long response time. Then what upset me most that they tried to push the problem away and blamed my router issue. I told these guys that i had no direct lan connection to my tablel for PPPoE. I also stated my router was new and 100% reliable. You can tell as speed was ok during off-peak but terrible at on-peak, which i didnt believe it was router issue.
However, troubleshooting was stopped there as they kept said I couldnt do further test without a direct connection. Their troublshooting was 100% crap. Also, customer support hotline is not 24/7, it will be totally lost if any issue happen afterhours or weekend.
I was very disappointed but no choice just waited for weeks then speed back to normal again. Obivously, they knew what was happening. I believed this company do not have enough bandwidth with AAPT. I had switched to other provider that has much faster connection.
Like the other said, having a fast and reliable nbn connection just like betting for luck.
Frustrating NBN. OK customer service – We live in Mount Coolum. Our NBN service is less to be desired. It constantly drops out. I have made several complaints. The team does respond. After making me run several days worth of speed tests they tell me it's a restriction from the NBN itself. They offered to downgrade my speed limit and refund me for the entire time I've been with them the… Read more
difference as they cannot promise me what I originally signed up for. The only reason I'm not switching is because I'm moving in a few months. Even with the downgraded speed it still cuts out. It would be interesting to see what other people experience in the area.

Avoid!!!! – Worst company ever. Do not give them your money. We signed up back in October, didn’t hear anything, received no modem, no service. telecommunications industry ombudsman to eventually receive a call back. After several more conversations we were told our account would be stopped and we would get a refund within 7-14 business days. That was 20 business days ago and we are still to receive a refund and in the meantime, we have been sent a second bill. AusBBS you are a disgrace and I can’t believe you are still in business. I guess it’s going to go to a second TIO complaint.
Suffered Through A Year – I signed up with these guys when I moved into a house with FTTP. For the first month or two things were good, reasonable speeds and reliable. The problem came after things started going wrong. The modem they'd given me turned out to be the problem, but this was only admitted after I forced them to send me a new one. I'd had problems with dropouts… Read more
every day for a month, then after they did some magic the connection was more reliable for a month or so - long enough for them to close the error report. So when it started again I put up with it for a few weeks til I got sick of restarting every day, sometimes several times a day. The speed was also hopeless.
So I spent hours on the phone to their 'support' who took forever to answer and made me go through all the hoops again, troubleshooting made it clear it was (in part) the modem - though also sometimes they said it was their error that they 'fixed'. After 11 months I made them send me a new modem, then I cancelled the service.
Weirdly though they confirmed it was closed it kept working & took me 2 emails to tell them (because I thought they'd be likely to charge me).
terrible speed, dropouts and bad hours of support – I signed up with them a year back for NBN. They were good to start with but gradually I got more and more dropouts and over last weekend I suffered a day without internet, and they didn't have support after 4pm. So basically it was a night without netflix, youtube, ps4 games and wife's internet TV shows (on the brighter side, we went out to… Read more

And the support replied back today saying it's our side's problem. Ironically, after 6 hours of retrying the modem finally connected, I checked the syslog and it was caused by remote server not reachable for the past 6 hours.
Overcharged from the start, and they wont return my calls on the matter – NBN service with AusBBS took 3 months to connect, in each of those months I was incorrectly billed for the service, despite the service not having been provisioned. I've since made multiple calls to AusBBS about it, and every time they say that the enquiry needs to be dealt with by the accounts team, who aren't available to take any calls right… Read more

Terrible and disappointing – More than a year after my review on Mar 2016, AusBBS went from fantastic to terrible. We started to notice significant delay in our NBN speed. service. Very disappointed with AusBBS. We had really enjoyed their service when we first signed up shame they couldn't keep it up.
Terrible – Horrific tech support, lottery if you get to talk to someone. Ultra slow nbn, blamed an issue in my area, told them that was rubbish and release me from my contract. They did and the next day Aussie B.B. connected at max speed. Show details

Challenge you to find a worse after sales service – I moved into the current address almost 2 years ago and chose AusBBS due to good reviews. However, it has deteriorated badly since then. The worst Internet provider I have ever had the displeasure of using – Moved into a brand new block of units in Banksia Grove (WA) 2 years ago and only had a choice of AUSBBS and 1 other I don't recall the name of to connect too. leaving messages to the support centre with no call back for up to 1 week later from the initial phone call. Loss of connection up to 2 weeks nearly every 3-4 months since I connected with AUSBBS 2 years ago and I get the same response that its always my end causing the fault and even when LBNCO have sent out technicians and found the fault later from their end or from the connection line they setup to the house from the street. I also find it hard to understand their help centre employees as the help centre is based in the Philippines. Most of the time if you report a complaint they will tell you they logged a job or recorded it but when you speak to the next employee they can never find the last recorded call or any of its details so you have to go through everything again and hope they record it this time. Honestly I have no idea how they can run this company with it crashing in complete disarray. Can't wait till I move at the end of the year and join back up with a provider who will look after you and you receive what you pay for.

I have an issue at the moment and have not even tried to contact them (I am sure this is what they want), I have decided that it is easier to move to another supplier as soon as my credits have run out.
I noticed that they have a reviewer ([name removed]) who must be an employee as he states when he contacted them they were very helpful. How did he get an answer???
2 stars for their internet speed 0 stars for their non existent customer service – Been trying to get in contact with them for nearly a month now with no reply, got an automated email saying "we will most likely reply within two hours but occasionally it may take us 1-2 days" 25 days ago and I've sent 4 more messages to them since each with the same reply! Terrible Download Speeds During Evening – My previous ADSL provided about 1.5 mbps, which was 6 times faster than my NBN fibre to the premises is right now (2100Hrs). Terrible speeds, no explanation of poor speeds, would give zero stars if possible.
At one stage I needed a technician to reconnect optical fibre to box - took a full day for them to understand the requirement, then it would be 2 days to provide a tech. Organized it privately in a couple of hours.
Looking to move on to another provider.

Go elsewhere – Fibre connected in WA, terrible provider, too often doing maintenance on their infrequent network. Website often states that there are no reported faults but that's not the case. If you have the option, definitely choose another provider. Show details
Used to be Great - Now.. *sigh* – I agree with some comments here. AusBBS used to be awesome service up till 2015. They were contactable and very knowledgeable. Then they outsourced and ....downhill from there. That's customer service. Now to internet speed... once again I think it used to be good and now,... I'm recently down to 1Mbps or less. also have my landline connected through the nbn so it was also down, I explained this to these people and they ended up flagging it as an issue with the phone line and I would have to lodge a separate complaint for internet service, after this I sent them a detailed email explaining what every light was doing on my nbn unit and my router aswell as the tests I had completed with pictures and had no response, I suspect I answered all there questions 'Have you tried this' questions to soak up time and because they had no idea themselves they decided to ignore my email.
Anyways rant over, this has happened to me too many times with these people so I will be paying another mob for my internets instead of this poor excuse of a business.
WORST customer service I’ve EVER experienced – It’s impossible to contact these people. The internet service is satisfactory but if there’s ever an issue. It takes days to get through to them. Absolutely pathetic. August 19th 2017 Update: If I didn’t know better, I’d say i had dial up. Connection drop outs, speeds akin to the internet I had when I was using a dial up, or at best, adsl...1! Worst experience with any company I've ever dealt with - Appalling service – Ordered tier 4 FTTN NBN due to having slow internet in our previous house. business hours - no answer, another email prompting them was sent - no answer, made time to call them and they advised us that we're unable to have tier 4 as our connection does not support the speed, we dropped to tier 1 and they advised a refund would be made to our account for the extra money we paid (wondering if they would've bothered contacting us or even connecting us even though we paid). Add another 5 weeks on top of this and countless unanswered emails and unreturned phone calls until we finally got an email to say unless we could provide the number of the phone line they were going to charge us $300 to connect on top of what we've already paid!! Absolute joke. We contacted the previous tenants to ask if they know the previous phone number as where we're renting is the owners holiday house so they don't have internet or a phone line, the tenants, owners and real estate agent all said they did not know the number and said we should not need one to be connected to NBN. The previous tenants said they had their internet with TPG and never had any issues.
Suffice to say we cancelled our order with AusBBS and signed up hassle free to TPG. Now just to wait and see if they actually refund our money.
Giving them 1 star is a high rating of the joke of a service provided – Wont return calls.. Pathetic auto responses to email queries, all round champion scammers. Good luck to anyone who signs up with this joke of an ISP Show details

Worst costumer service – NBN just became available in my area and I signed with AusBBs. Kind of a nightmare. As it wasn't I spent one hour on the phone to AusBBs trying to set up the modem. They then said they would have to test the connection which would take 24h and they would give me a call back. 48h later they called saying it wasn't their fault and they would call the NBN connection team. 3 days later, as I hadn't heard anything, I called them. It took me 15 attempts to get to someone, as the lines were busy and they cut you off after 5 minutes on hold.
After 15 minutes, they realised that they told me to connect it to the wrong port (twice) and they reconfigure it and that was it. So basically 5 days without internet connection because they couldn't tell me the right port of the router they sold me.
Before this event I called them and asked for a call back, it took them 2 days.
In conclusion, they are hard to reach on the customer service line and it's just not up to standard. If I wasn't off work those days it would have been very difficult to get the internet working, particularly because the lines close at 17.30 and due to all of the set backs.
Was good at beginning, but terrible now – Their service was good a year back but it is terrible these days, for sure I will switch to another provider as I am tired of their crap service Show details
