Pedigree Dental Dog Treats

These led to my dog being put in the hospital, in so much pain and trauma. She puked blood after a day and a half of diarrhea and puking. The vet bill is $3K because of the tests they did and the overnight stay. Please never buy these. Show details
DIARRHOEA!! – OMG! My poor Staghound from rescue that I'm fostering was terribly uncomfortable & diarrhoea! I wasn't sure if it was other foods as she used 2 have Dentastix b4 & was OK, a little change in her poop.. but new recent buy after 2 months & no wonder most places aren't selling it anymore?! How on earth can they be allowed to sell this horrific, supposed healthy treat? Show details
Avoid – First time buying. My 8-year old German shepherd has been anxiously waking me up multiple times at night for TWO days because of explosive diarrhea and reading all these reviews is absolutely insane. Would never recommend. Ever. Show details

Do not buy this is poison – Dog became ill with explosive diarrhea and vomiting. Looked at the ingredients and they are full of crazy stuff including eucalyptus oil which seems to be toxic to dogs. Show details
My dog died – My dog who was perfectly healthy died the same night he ate one of these. HE BLOATED AND WAS TOO LATE TO SAVE HIM. Show details
Do not give this to your dog – After giving these to our 7mth old puppy it was the only time she has ever woken us up during the night so I knew something was wrong. Was up 4 times with her as she had explosive diarrhoea. Tried her again on a portion of one a few days later to make sure we could eliminate any other irritants and again she was very sick. Would strongly recommend staying away from this product. If only we had looked into them first. Show details
Great product for a fussy eater – Great product for my dog and when it’s on special it makes it affordable to give him. My dog is a very very fussy eater and if anything was wrong with these dental sticks he wouldn’t eat them. He loves and enjoys them and the bonus is his teeth are being cleaned:) Show details · 1

We call this Breakfast – My Daughter bred my dog on 21 August 2015. We picked him up then picked a caravan up in November 2015. We take our dog everytime we go on the Caravan. My dog has chewed up a Dentastix for breakfast ever since he could handle it. I noticed a couple of times in the early days he swallowed one whole. He soon learnt after complications not to do that… Read more
mostly & he holds it in his two front paws & carefully chews it every morning. His teeth are still quite nice and I put it down to the Dentastix. We make sure we always have dentastix and don't ever let him down because when my wife gets up he comes to the cupboard with her to get one.
Kept Dog Teeth Healthy for 15 Years – We lost our Cavoodle last year, just 2 months shy of his 15th birthday. That's 15 years without ever needing veterinary oral treatment. No tooth extractions, no tartar removal or teeth cleaning. During routine vet visits when his teeth were checked, we were often asked how our old dog's teeth were kept so healthy. The honest answer was simply… Read more
that we gave him one dentastix each evening as his bedtime snack. He never had a reaction to them. Never had digestive issues. They worked.
We now have a Whippet and he also has a dentastix each evening. Never an issue. Great healthy gums.
My dogs all love them – Every dog ive owned over the years absolutely love them as a treat. Never had a single health issue with any dog. My dogs eat a fairly natural and very varied diet including lots of raw bones. Not sure if that makes a difference. They dont seem to get sick easily. Show details

Dentastixs are not worth the gamble on your dog’s health – All things being equal in my two dog’s diets with zero issues, we gave them each one dentastix (4” long piece), appropriate for their sizes, and both of them got sick the next day. Loose stools, foul smell, some mucus and blood in one stool. One dog is still having issues 48 hours later and if there is no improvement with a safe diet to calm his… Read more
internals down, I’m going to have to go to the vet. So thanks, Dentastix. This product should not be on the shelves anymore. 4/2/24.
Bloody drips after eating – We have two Bassett hounds and they started dripping drips of blood. We finally figured this out after weeks of treatments it didn’t go It away. Doctor gave us pills for the inflammation and still took us another trip and $900 of treatments to stop the bleeding. We then stopped all dentastix and the dogs healed up. Do not give your dog these. Almost killed our dog – My daughter fed our dogs two each one day instead of the normal one. One of our dogs became violently sick all through the night, vomiting up blood and doing bloody diarrhoea all over our cream carpets throughout our two-storey house. When we woke up in the morning he had collapsed, was struggling to breathe, his tummy had swollen up… Read more
significantly, and we thought he would die. We carried him to the vet and he spent four days at the vet being given a range of medications and care, which cost $5000. The vet said he was in 'severe gastrointestinal distress' amd in a 'very serious condition', with significant internal bleeding. He recovered eventually.

Do not Use – If you love your dog, do not give them this product, both our Cavoodles experienced vomiting within a hour of consuming these. Vomiting up yellow bile. Never had a problem with another brand. Show details
I wish I could choose negative stars – I gave my 90 lb, 3 year old and otherwise healthy dog exactly 1 of these chews and he proceeded to spend the next 5 days suffering from urgent, around the clock diarrhea. It was absolutely terrible. He's on the mend now, thank goodness, but I don't feel any less angry. This never should have happened- these shouldn't be on the market and I will tell everyone who will listen. Do not buy these. Show details
Never again for my fur baby – I used these stix for sometime, my dog was being sick and I just couldn't work out why as was using the stix for sometime . He was vommiting a few times at the start but we put it down to other things as a possible not the stix. In time it got worse. Finally I stopped giving him these stix and omg been over 12 months with out them and he has not… Read more
vommitted once since. These are so bad for dogs. Might be good for the teeth but terrible for the dogs. My dog is a new dog now it made him so unwell. Never ever would I recommend these to any ones fur baby.
Should be illegal to sell – I wish I read the reviews before buying this. Last min purchase from Coles thinking ohh that would be nice for him. Worst nightmare! Show details
Made my dog sick – My dog is fine with greenies and minties, but these made him sick. I wasn’t sure if it was from the dentastix so I tried giving him another a week later… he so much as put it in his mouth and started throwing up immediately. This time he won’t even eat it. I just threw away a bag of 100 of these. Show details
Vomitting and diarrhea with blood – My dog has eaten a denta stik everyday for years but I recently bought her the bacon flavored ones and she began vomitting and became lethargic followed by diarrhea with red spots. After a day and a half of a bland diet and anti indigestion pills from a vet she recovered. We gave her another stik having not made the earlier connection and she had diarrhea again the next day. We're now assuming it's the stiks. Show details
DentaStyx – as in the mythological river of death. While in the Boston area helping out with a new grandchild on an otherwise pleasant visit, and out of regular treats, we purchased these instead. Our older dog started having bloody diarrhea for the first time ever about five hours later, which lasted about three days. Luckily we did not waste over a grand… Read more
contacting an emergency nighttime vet, but I had to walk her every half hour so she didn't ruin our hosts' carpets, including the night it was forty below with the wind chill. My wife happened to mention the brand name early on and I couldn't believe all the same cause-and-effect bad reviews online. Amazing that this is still on the market.
These have never been an issue before but now – I'm not sure if it's a bad batch or if they've changed ingredients but my 2 dogs became very ill with both vomitting and diarrhea after eating these. I will never buy again. Show details

DESPICABLE COMPANY – My 7 year old Jack Russell gets a very healthy diet, now suffering from tartar buildup I started giving her Dentastix, she vomited 10 times in total the next 24 hours. She vomited 4 times during 1 am to 6 am. All that came up that night was a whole lot of water and chunks of what looked like dentastix pieces. That's what made me question the… Read more
dentastix, until then I was scared for her life, waiting for the vet to open to take her there immideately. As soon as I stopped giving her another piece she got instantly better. She's my world, and I thought my world is falling apart. Very horrible experience because of this despicable #1 company that owners around the world trusts their loving dogs with.

PLEASE, READ THE PRODUCTS BEFORE YOU FEED THEM TO YOUR DOG. Even #1 companies shouldn't be trusted. From now on she will not get anything new before I've done massive research on it. Outrageous, I wish someone would sue them and take them off the shelves. My heart goes out to every dog and every owner out there especially the ones that has no idea this is the cause for their dog being ill.
The amount of hidden toxins in their labels, despicable!
Absolute rubbish – Bought these last week and gave my dogs one each. Both were very lethargic after eating them and didnt think anything at the time. Gave my dogs one each again today. Both dogs are once again even more so this time and are unwell. I wish i had read the reviews before i bought them. They will now go in the bin and will never purchase again. Show details
If you love your animal, NEVER BUY THESE! – We brought our Labrador pup home 3 weeks ago excited with all the treats…dentastix original being one of them.. Within 1 hour our 11 week puppy had vomited and was extremely lethargic, lost bladder control, appetite, wouldn’t drink water, was hardly responsive, extremely dizzy..my young children were inconsolable thinking our new family member was… Read more
dying infront of them.. THE MOST TRAUMATIC EXPERIENCE AS A DOG OWNER!!! How these are on the market after all the reviews is an absolute disgrace!! This also cost us $1100 in emergency veterinary bills! We should send the vet bills to this joke of a company!
Made My Dog Sick – I bought these from Costco after using a more expensive dog dental treat off of Chewy. I figured they'd be basically the same thing, but that was not true at all. The other brand looked nice, like a regular dog chew. The Dentastix looked like plastic and were stuck together. But I still assumed they'd be fine. I gave my Frenchie one per day over… Read more
the last couple of days just like I had with the other ones before I ran out. Within two days, my dog had explosive and completely liquid diarrhea. I am going to return these and ask Costco not to carry these anymore as they are not safe for dogs.
This treat has made our dog violently sick – We use to buy these for our Black Lab years ago We recently tried them again and she vomited and became extremely lethargic, loss of appetite, at first we didn't know what caused it until we have her a second one and the exact same happened. She vomited consistently for about 12 hours resulting in a trip to the Vet $355 Later for injections and… Read more

Looks like they have changed their ingredients as 95% of all the other reviews have said the same thing.
DON’T recommend. Puppy required all day vet observation – My 5 month old pup vomited bile non-stop all night and had to go to the vet in the morning. Gave me a big scare. I checked the age recommendation and ingredients prior to purchasing but it still upset his little tummy. I’ve since checked the reviews and wish I had checked beforehand, seems like my pup had a mild reaction compared to others. They… Read more
must have changed their ingredients because my old dog (who had tummy sensitivities and intolerances) loved dentastix’s. Overall, I would definitely not use this product again!
Poor product for dogs – We Have been giving dentastix Fresh to our dog for years. Our dog recently became seriously ill. Had explosive diarrhea and vomited yellow bile. We looked at everything he ate. My husband said the dentastix smelled funny. The color wasn’t as green as usual. I agreed with him. We looked at the ingredients and found they have changed. is allergic to poultry. This product never had “natural poultry flavor” before. If it’s got natural flavor, it means it’s got poultry in it. A trusted product has betrayed us! I’m guessing to save money since poultry is cheap. Do not risk giving this to your dog! It should be recalled and never allowed on the market again. Shame on you Pedigree! You don’t deserve to stay in business.
Do not give to your dog – Bought this product and gave my 2 year old Terrier mix one. After 24 hours she was throwing up what looked like blood clots In the vomit. Monitored her and following day she was better. I will never buy this product again. Threw the package away!
