Will not work with only black cartridges, forced to buy the color cartridges to print black only, very finicky to set up. I will never buy hp printer again. I’m not satisfied with this product. Don’t buy it if you don’t use it very often, ink dries up in cartridges, then can’t print. Show details
Horrendous printer with HP continually changing ability to use cartridges other than their own or even refilling original cartridges (environmentally friendly). HP keeps blocking use of printer without brand new HP cartridges. Goes through cartridges rapidly I believe HP is the problem and I will not purchase another HP product Show details
Printer is good but DO NOT I repeat DO NOT sign up to the HP Subscription plan for cartridges. You get stung every month for subscription, plus exorbitant charges if you go over your quota of pages for the month, then they have the audacity when you cancel your subscription yo make the cartridges used/supplied by them nut and void UNUSABLE the ones you have in your printer from them as well as any spares!! MTHRFKRS!!!!

This suckssss – This is the worst printer I ever bought. I want my money back. U guys promised quilt printing and i am running a catalog business. I need to print catalog and after the 10th one it goes outer line then the ink runs out so fast... Show details

Utter Garbage – I only gave it one star because there was no choice to make an obvious ZERO - the worst printer I've EVER HAD to include those from over 30 years ago - UTTER GARBAGE!!!! Show details
Does not do what it says it should do – Another piece of garbage by HP. On the front of the unit it says - Powerfully productive printing. Its anything but,. Frequent failures, goes through ink too fast. Fails to connect often. Totally rubbish.
Burns through ink cartridges as an unprecedented rate – This printer is used for occasional correspondence. This printer is terrible. All three-color ink cartridges are completely empty despite the fact that the printer default settings are Quality Settings: Better and Color: Black & White. The printer is not used for color printing. In addition, if unused for several days the printer goes through a… Read more
painfully prolong clean and prep cycle. This likely explains the color ink cartridge issue. Stay away from this product.
Frustration – Absolute garbage I want my money back If I knew then what I know now Recently found out this thing actually works There's a small piece of paper on the back of the printer covering what looks like a port for a cable. I removed that paper and all of a sudden this things actually works like a regular printer
horrible – If I could give it a 0 rating I would. This printer wastes a massive amount of your time waiting for it to print or trying to fix issues with it. Most of the time, the print job goes to the print cue and just sits there until the printer genie decides it's okay to print. Buyer beware. This is a cheap printer and you get what you pay for. I would not recommend it to anyone and hp should refund everyone who bought this printer. Show details
Worse electronics I've purchased my entire life! – This is such a piece of poo. The worse electronics I've purchased my entire life. Bought original HP black cartridge to replace the build-in one with so little ink in it. But even after they intentionally broke the ability to print from a Mac (and I believe other desktop OS, too), printing it from my android phone also starts to malfunction. I… Read more
chose the 'Color' to be 'Black & White' so many times, and it just keeps printing in yellowish/greenish color! WTH???!!!
I will refrain from buying any more HP products, given their lack of ethics on product decisions and abysmal product quality.
Would absolutely give 0 Star if it's possible at all!
Beware of this rubbish – The biggest money muncher ever foisted on consumers. I've bought some useless things in my life but this is a cracker. I'm pretty hopeless at technology but a PHD student would struggle to set it up. It's main attributes include: Impossibly difficult to set up Flimsy build Doesn't recognise new catridges Goes through ink like water You get the drift. Show details
The most useless printer ever! – Where do I begin! Constantly whirring noises without anything being done? Flimsy parts, lucky to use etc I'll give it a negative star if possible. I can't bring myself to replace it cos I bought it recently. Praying for it to finally break-down so I have justification for another. A terrible product indeed. Show details
This is the worst printer I have ever come across – I would give it a negative score if I could. Very complicated to set up and will often come up with errors when I try to print something. Gets you to use an app that is clunky and annoying. Printing cannot be done through a USB, scanning has to be done through the app, and not to a USB. Having to go back and forth from laptop to printer. I… Read more
would smash it before disposing of it to prevent anyone from thinking of using it again. Waste of time and money.

The Worst!! – I have owned 5-6 printers over the last 18 years . Some HP and other brands . This is undoubtedly the worst . Clumsy to use.....frequently going into "maintenance mode" . Often messy prent . May be useful as a boat anchor Show details
Second most expensive, and worst, printer I have ever bought – The printer did the panic job I paid over the odds for. But after that it became a mocking reminder not to buy anything in a panic. The build and design is poor. Flimsy and awkward. All the warnings are displayed on a small LED screen, very few on my computer. Wireless connection is like dial-up used to be in the 90's! It decides for itself… Read more
which side of the paper it will print on. It has 40% dead volume. The cartridges are pathetically small. Turning it off takes many presses. Turning it on is like waiting for a bus on a Sunday. The print quality is no better than what I would have expected a decade ago. It is the second most expensive printer I have ever bought, but is the worst, but a considerable margin.
Piece of crap – Bought this and takes no less than 2 minutes to print a page. As soon as it ran out of ink, which wasn't very long, I through it away and bought a new printer that works. Show details
Scam of ripping people off for ink cartridges - bought it and then threw it in the bin – Great looking machine - however the cost of ink cartridges makes it useless - a rip off with HP. This aspect is entirely eco friendly - What a threat to Global Warming. HP cartridges are the only ones you can use - no recycling whatsever Show details
No. No – Says it has a printer jam but no jam what do i do i dont like it it doesnt even let me navigate the included menus at all and stays on a menu screen saying that theres a jam. Is the printer judging me?
30 years of HP frustration – This is the third time in 30 years I have purchased a HP product and each time I swear I will never again purchase HP. I am not tech savvy to start with and can only imagine that HP products are for those that know something about electronics, because I do not find them user friendly. The latest problem is with the HP Officejet Pro 8020. I have… Read more
spent a great deal of time trying to get the printer software downloaded ending with a call to tech support (who were great by the way) and even they had problems with the download, in particular the scanning software which the tech support person claiming there was some conflict with Windows 11 and their software. In the end, he downloaded another HP software scanning program so that I could use the scanner. One week later the scanner again is not working. I spend more time trying to understand and to getting the HP products to work than getting my business commitments attended to. I have so many problems with the scanning that I have now just purchased a separate flatbed scanner. What I would like to know is, do the knuckle heads at HP ever test their products before putting out to market and why in the 30 years I have dealt with them, cant a knucklehead like myself understand how to use them. The only reason I had bought the HP on this occasion was because of the shortage of printers on the market only. I normally buy Brother which I never have any problems with. Why cant HP take a leaf out of their book! No more HP's for me...
I am a long time HP printer supporter - but the 8020 is TERRIBLE! – Printer connectivity is flakey, and print has to be restarted far too often. The HP Smart app is slow and cumbersome to do simple scans. It's missing scan to folder which I used to have on my previous HP which allow a simple scan a document to a network folder. Show details
Worst Printer Ever, I almost had a divorce due to this POS – I have had over 10 printers in the past many in the 8 series and I have noticed that over the past 7 years the quality has gone down the drain. The plastic panels on the printer dont feel solid they feel like they are made of recycled dildos. The printer jams everytime I send more than 3 pages to print, the print quality is horrible and the app… Read more
doesnt work on ios. How the hell can you go a decade back in terms of printer technology when you are 7 years into the future it makes no sense. Would only recommend to a company that I want to sabotage.
Piece of garbage never again will I buy HP – Absolute crap. Thought it would be an esay install printer for home office, I ended up removing it and putting it in the cupboard never to be used. If anyone out there wants a paper weight let me know because it sure doesnt work as a printer. Im going back to Brother or epson

Piece of Garbage!!!! – The paper loader is flimsy and easily breaks! It will not connect easily to my phone or computer! HP just lost a lot of money because I will not use them for ink now!! Show details
I would give it zero if I could – Chews ink, awful quality, very user unfriendly. It’s like HP contracted this one out to the cheapest provider and had no quality control. So annoyed with this thing. Do not buy one. Show details
Too complicated to set up – Bought this home, spent 2 hours trying to get it set up, including having to phone HP support (got cut off from them!), so put it back in the box and returned it. We are reasonably techy, but the setup was slow, clunky, and too frustrating to be bothered with. It might have ended up being a good printer, but who could be bothered trying to find out. Came back with a Canon .. so simple to get set up. Show details
LOAD OF RUBBISH – Took possession of this crap on a Friday morning. Had no idea how to connect my to mycomputer so called tech assistance. Tech said it would take 20 minuets to get it conected and running. After 2 1/2 hours he said that the scanner would not connect and he would have to speak to somebody higher. As it was the end of the day he said that he… Read more
would call me Monday morning at 11.00am. On Tuesday at 4.00pm and still no phone call I took it back to the place of purchace and got a full refund. This was to replace a cannon printer. Guess what. I'm buy a cannon printer to replace this load of rubbish.
Utterly rubbish, please don't buy! – I bought this PoS during the lockdown for my home office. It drank 5 black ink cartridges (AUD 62 each) and printed only 74 pages. Expensive and inefficient, worthless expenditure. Show details
An absolute POS – 10 months out of warranty and the scanner fails. Not worth spending the money to repair as now I cannot trust it would be worthwhile. Having to sign into an account is also a waste of my time Show details
HP 8020 is the WORST printer ive ever owned NEVER AGAIN – i bought 3 new hp envys could not get them to work took back and got an hp office jet pro 8020 a year ago couldnt get it to work either i paid $260 it was impossible to install it took 8 months to finly get it working then ink was all dried up the software sucks you have to install it using wireless and you have to use your phone to install it i… Read more
never been so frustrated in my life the crap i had to go threw just to get it to work was insane hp smart software dosnt work i just had to pay $83 dollars for the ink when it supposed tobe free you cant understand the people at hp the warentee just ran out and today is the first time i used this printer.i believe with every fiber of my being the reason hp printers are wireless is so they can spy on you there is no reason why to have hpprinters used wireless and have to use your phone to install it makes no sence hpnolonger gives you drivers you have to get them yourself they DO NOT make it easy to get the right software. NEVER NEVER AGAIN will i buy HP anything and neither should you.
Never even got it installed – The Smart software is impossible to resolve installation issues. There is not a simple driver. It REQUIRES and account and to monitor your printer. I have not had this much trouble installing a printer since the 1980's. I returning it and getting a canon or epson. Show details
Sorry I Purchased this Printer – I am so sorry I purchased this printer. I have had it for over a year and suddenly it will not connect with the internet. as a result, I cannot print. Suddenly, there is a problem I contacted my internet service and… Read more
after over an hour, they found nothing wrong on their end. It must be HP Instant Ink. No one can help me so I now have a printer that is completely useless. I am so upset and frustrated because no one at HP can or will help resolve this issue. I need my printer for several things, especially for my granddaughter and her schoolwork.
Horrible, Absolute waste of money – This printer was pitched as being 'good value' and 'great for home use'. What should be pitched - Chews through ink - Has constant paper jams - Paper jams are not easy to fix - Does not print perfectly straight - Very slow - Very noisy As a teacher who often needs to print a few things at home now and then, having a printer that does not print… Read more
documents straight is extremely frustrating. Not to mention when it jams up halfway through printing. The ink is very expensive to continue buying constantly. This is the second HP printer I have owned that has been a complete let down. Honestly would rather spend extra on the Brother printers, good value for ink and easy to use and reliable.
disappointed and bad service – firstly they sent a broken product and the best part was trying to get on to support after 6 phone calls and then using Facebook messenger, they agreed that it was damaged so they would send a replacement. they then sent the wrong product and told me it was the same. after another 4 weeks and multiple emails phone calls and messages they told me… Read more
that I was wrong and that the product was what I brought. it took another 2 weeks for them to send the correct replacement. now after finally getting a new printer, the document feeder won't work. what a great printer and service team.
after using HP printers for 15 years I will never go back
Absolute rubbish – It is so slow and so noisy. It takes a fair few minutes to adjust and start to get going each morning and I have to be very mindful of my flatmates because of how loud it is. The ink cartridges run out so very quickly and that is when it does print, when not doing further maintenance. I lost connectivity and when I contacted the HP web/helpline, it was complicated and unhelpful. I will not buy HP again. Absolute rubbish! Show details
Pretty bad – The hp direct feature is like a labyrinth to connect to. Extremely complicated. And I am not tech-illiterate; I can write in javascript. It's just super unintuitive, with no love put into the user interface. Should be as easy as pressing a button, but is not. The print quality is low: lots of streaks. Also, this thing just drinks up ink. Clearly,… Read more
HP designed this product so users would have to spend money refilling the printer in perpetuity. A great example of how the tech industry designs its products in such a way to encourage dependency well past the point of the initial purchase. This printer feels like it's not a product you own, but a lazy salesperson who doesn't know how to provide the features you want but keeps trying to get you to buy upgrades with ambiguous features. It is a means for HP to exercise agency over the consumer. I regret purchasing this product and I will avoid HP in the future.
