Very hard to set up – The disc that came with the printer did not work so the drivers could not be installed using the disc. I phoned tech support but the first person I spoke to could not help me. I was contacted not long after by someone else from Brother who was able to help me however the drivers had to be installed via the Brother website because the disc did not… Read more

work. This all took up a few hours of my time. I was expecting a much easier install.

Have only had the printer a few hours: have tried printing and scanning and it seems to work well. The scan function is certainly much easier to use than my Canon printer/scanner. I connected the printer using a USB port rather than wifi.

ideal for the bush & town – We live in the bush and internet is dicky, to say the least. My brother recommended this printer and it is absolutely ideal for our needs. No more inks drying out before being used, no more paying a techo to unclog inkjets. No more reliance on wonky internet. I don't need colour so perfect for us. Bought it about a month ago and finally had time… Read more

to put it through its paces: single & duplex print, scan to print and save, print B&W photos, etc, etc. Each operation done with and without internet (using USB from pc). Even went so far as to press print and immediately switch off printer to simulate an (all to common) power outage. Switched on about half hour later and the wheels turned and out came my print. Fabulous in every regard. Highly recommended.

Lots of toner left but advises you are running low so must buy new toner – I used to love Brother printers. They were the only ones I would buy. But the toner is very expensive and the printer announces you need a new toner before there is even any loss in quality. No way to override.  Show details

Terrific laser printer and scanner – I recently purchased this Brother scanner printer to use with my IpadPro. I found the set up pretty straight forward and connected it to my wifi and was able to scan to my iPad, sending it via email. Then print from my iPad. Exactly what I wanted to be able to do as I only own an IpadPro and needed it to work with this. The starter toner cartridge… Read more

is very generous and still going strong after I’ve printed out over 100 Xmas cards to send. It takes 160gsm paper/card in the main paper tray and prints beautifully. I’ve owned Brother laser printer scanners before and I’m delighted with this new one.

Perfect for home office and corona virus lockdown – If you're after a home office printer this lil bro is hard to beat! For a tad over $200 it does excellent text printing, prints both sides of the paper, scans to email (I use the shortcuts as I often scan to multiple email accounts, so simple!) connects via WIFI flawlessly (always make sure the Hotspot is turned on first as it needs to connect to… Read more

that to send to the internet). Replacement toner can be found at cheap prices. Scans at 1200dpi in colour. Can't fault it. Haven't tried to print from a fone, can imagine a fone would cause issues if the correct drivers weren't installed on the fone. Having worked in IT for quite a few years not sure I'd attempt this, but can't anyway as my phone is the hotspot. As to noise levels and printing speed I have no idea, it lives in a different room to me, I only go in there to pick up the prints. Scans very quickly too.

Unable to print on the second day after purchase – I printed a few test pages on the same day without issues. Next day printer gave me "Print Unable E9" error after start-up, which means mechanical repair is required according to online user manual. So, next day after purchase I should bring printer to repair centre at my own cost because warranty type for them 'return-to-base', and no one from… Read more

service centre will attend to look into the issue onsite. Totally disappointing experience with Brother product. May be just bad luck, but it creates an impression about quality, for sure.

Also, scanning does not allow 'crop' functionality in both tools installed (ControlCenter and iPrint&Scan). It could be hidden very well, but my 10 years old printer already provided such important feature right on main screen after scanning. Along with bad mechanical quality I can add poor user experience in software to Brother's account.

Decent Printer – This printer is overall ok for monies worth. Prints fast and is reasonably quiet. A little hard to print from mobile connection at times especially if you in a hurry. But printing from desktop is not problem.  Show details
