Canon Pixma Home Office TR8660a

What struck me as soon as I began to set up this printer was the fragility of its components. I once owned an HP printer for 25 years and only stopped using it because its ink cartridges were no longer vailable. It was robust and thus durable. I have no confidence that this Canon will experience any sort of mishap without something fracturing. The setup was difficult, with the usual scene today of having to get your information online instead of it coming with the product. So when it came to trying to print I was faced with incomprehensible messages on the printer control screen mentioning parts which I could not recognise. In parrticular, the need for the front panel to be sticking up in the air in order to print; and I didn't discover the rear paper feeder for several days. Why there are two feeders is a mystery. Eventually I worked it out but it wasn't easy. After a couple of weeks of use I see the ink supply shrinking rapidly. Doubtless, this will be like all printers, cheap to buy and very expensive to run, but with its flimsy construction I suppose that I can expect nothing less.
Purchased in at Betta Electrical for $493.
I needed to replace my 12 year old home office canon and I use canon photo paper so I chose this printer. It is a newer version of the old MX726. I WAS CONCERNED BY THE POOR INTERNET REVIEWS BUT I DIDNT NEED TO BE.its a really good printer. Its smartphone app is great. It even prints MS Powerpoint from dropbox using the phone. If you want the printer to be always ready, computer or phone this is one to consider. Very well priced as well.
