I started using this washing machine in March 2023, I’ve been very happy with how clean my clothes have been and how quiet the machine is until today. It has now broken down unable to spin dry the load. I am very disappointed that after 2.5 years the machine has now needed repairs. My Simpson of 18years had never needed repairs I only replaced it because I renovated my laundry. Show details ·  1

Hello- would not recommend.. I have provided photos of machine leaking multiple times.. had 2 -4 technicians come out but they can’t find the fault.. I was then asked to film the machine leaking .. literally asking me to stand by machine and see if it leaks.. dissatisfied customer service from Haier…

Worst washing machine I’ve ever experienced – I’ve had the washer for 4 months and it hasn’t worked properly since the first load. The clothes come out extremely wet, so wet that they cannot go into the dryer and hanging them up inside cause all the windows to get condensation. I’ve had the repair guys out 3 times. The 2nd time he contacted Haier for advice. Their response was to not use the… Read more

auto settings and to make sure I adjust the spin settings to 1400 on each load and to also adjust the size of my loads as often the spin cycle will not work correctly with a full load. The tech did a spin rev check on an empty load during his 3rd visit and it did get to 1400 so they have closed my case and I am left with a washing machine that only spins correctly if the load is the equivalent to a single bath towel. I would not recommend this machine to anyone.

Overall a great machine, with more pros than cons – Well I've been living with the Haier HWF90AN1 for several weeks and here's what I think. It's a great entry level washing machine that cleans clothes well, is easy to use, has enough features for it's intended buyer, it has some great things, like a light, that many higher end brands don't even bother to include. I did notice a very slight… Read more

increase in energy usage over the period, but it wasn't significant to make me not recommend it right away. Water usage seems to be great and no difference between this machine and my old one.

Things like the stop and add function are great and allow you to add in that last minute t shirt or sock that you may have forgotten three minutes prior when starting one of its multitude of cycles.

It spins at a respectable 1400 rpm and includes things like the light (more on that later), Eco programs (which is a quite fast cycle compared to the rest, minus the fastest spin speed oddly), and fits a decent amount of items for being 9kgs.

The drum does seem a tad shallow, but it may just be me. I feel for being 9kgs it would have been a bit larger and hold a tad more.

The light only comes on at the end or beginning of cycles it seems and then turns off, perhaps it's a one off software glitch or this may be it's intended programming.

Overall the pros are there for the price.

The downsides are it has a slight whine when on intermediate spin or full spin. Something I think is quite unacceptable in this level of machine. For a brand aspiring to play in the big leagues, it's a noticeable and flawed issue. The light as mentioned before, the smallish capacity of the drum size in real world usage, and I couldn't get the Wifi to work. Perhaps it wasn't even on this model but it stumped me.

The cons are much shorter than the pros, which is a good sign. I think that it will a decently long lasting product, that does what it needs to do; wash and clean your clothes effectively. Things came out smelling fresh and clean on all cycles and I expect that it will continue to be a great addition going forward. Must add in that the brand has really shown that they can really make a decent mid range product and include features that aren't included on machines three times it's price.

Would I spend my own money on it? That depends. The whine at speed is something that is a big no on my books, only being honest. I prefer whisper quiet machines, and while it is on normal cycles. The spin noise is a bit off putting. So if I were in the market and could get one on sale at a decent price, I'd probably buy one. But I wouldn't pay full price for it.

Great machine with one major downfall, and that's a pass overall for me. Meaning a solid 4 out of 5!

Reliable and perfect after sale services – After almost two years the seal was leaking and I called the service centre, they sent a technician in three days and fixed it without any problem, which is better than I expected (some factories only give a one year warranty and cannot send a technician on site, and the leak was due to my fault of pulling a stuck cloth too hard). The machine is very quiet and everything works perfectly. Show details

So very happy – Plenty of useful program options with easy to follow controls. Washes incredibly well and cycle times are reasonable. Auto dosing is a nice feature to compliment the auto load sensing. We are very happy with the generous 10kg capacity. The manual is easy to follow and explains all functions well. Show details

Flooded first wash! – The machine ran well for the first 15 minute cycle but completely flooded the soap dispenser on the second 60 minute wash. The amount of water that flooded out of the machine was enough to completely flood the laundry space. Water remained pooled in the soap dispenser and wouldn’t drain! Replacement machine seems to be running okay but time will tell! Show details

Brand new machine with incorrect soap dispener floods the floor on first wash! – Brand new machine was delivered 2 weeks ago and has the wrong soap dispenser installed. It flooded the laundry floor on first use. It has taken 2 weeks for a Haier technician to come to find the fault due to his job queue. He was a great guy so no blame on him. The machine is to be replaced by Haier. Its now 2 weeks before Christmas, I wonder if Santa will be bringing it. He's gunna need a heavy duty sleigh! Good washing machine with some funky features – After having had Bosch washing machines for years we have now got the new Haier HWF80AN1 8kg washing machine. While appliances get more modern over time this one seems to be a step-change from the previous ones with all sorts of funky features not seen before. THE GOOD The first thing you notice when using the washing machine is how quiet it is,… Read more

during the normal cycle you’d barely notice it’s on. When it was spinning when we first used the machine we though it was only spinning at low revs as there’s none of the noise and movement from our old washing machine when spinning but when the cycle was completed we noticed the wash was dryer than previously (It spins up to 1400 RPM) which is great.

There are another number of smart features that are great and make doing the laundry so much easier: The washing machine can wash at 90 degrees which I have been told this is essential in case of kids (ours will definitely give that a run for it’s money). The washing machine also spins at 1400 RPM which makes a big difference when needing something dry quickly.

There is an auto-dose function that will use only the amount of detergent required instead of everything you put in the drawer (great for people like myself that don’t really like reading manuals and paying attention to those sort of details). I’ve noticed a few times that some of the detergent is left in the compartment, so it saves me from overfilling and suing too much detergent all the time.

There’s a light in the washing machine when door is opened, especially as our washing machine is in a fairly dark room, this is very handy when loading and unloading the machine and when looking for something in particular.

The washing machine looks quite modern as well with a rotary dial and a few “touch screen” type buttons rather than physical buttons. This is quite handy for keeping the washing machine itself clean and dust free as well as there are no edges for dust to get into.

What I particularly like – but is not particularly useful – is that it is possible to download an app to a mobile phone and connect the washing machine to WIFI so you can check the status, stop the machine and check for any issues remotely. The app will also tell you when the cycle is complete or when it’s 5 minutes from completing. This doesn’t just work when you’re at home, it will send a message to your phone while away too (so these when I’m work days I get a message letting me know my wife is doing the laundry…….. pretty useless but it you like gadgets it’s great). The app also allows you to connect to a SONOS (music) system and will advise through the SONOS system when the cycle is completed. This is actually more useful than it sounds if you have SONOS throughout your house and also away from your washing machine.

THE BAD Nothing serious really, but there are two minor items where improvements can be made.

1) Small improvements can be made in the way the display is represented. It is slightly confusing and for some functions multiple buttons need to be pressed together (activating operating the machine using a phone for instance). Surely there are more elegant solutions using the rotary dial for instance but it’s hardly an issue.

2) While the washing machine can be connected to WIFI it’s a bit of a confusing process connecting it. There are a number of Haier apps in the App store so it took me a while to work out which one I needed (took a lot of trial and error). Once I had the right app I still couldn’t work out how to connect it so I called the helpdesk. Only then I found out the app hadn’t been configured yet and an update which was configured for the use of washing machines was going to be released on the 1st of September. Haier did indeed release an update to the app on the 1st of September and from then it was “smooth sailing”.

Dealing with the helpdesk was a very pleasant experience and none of the automated voices that will ultimately tell you to jump back online and try and sort it out yourself using a you-tube video made by a 15-year old IT guru with no prior exposure to washing machines. Instead the helpdesk lady talked me through all the steps one by one and when the app still didn’t connect she contacted a technician after which she found out the app had to be re-released. She had all the time in the world for us while we were tying downloading the app on other tablets and phones and was set on resolving the issue there and then. Also noteworthy is that I called well after “normal” hours and wasn’t told to call back another day nor did I have to wait for a long time to be attended to, this was great show of customer service and something other companies could use as an example.

THE BORING The washing machine has 14 programs including Cotton, Synthetic, Delicate, Shirts, Towels, Refresh, Express 15, Allergy, Bedding, Bulky, Durable and Spin. These menus can all be further customized with temperatures and spin speeds being adjusted and eco mode, stain treatment or UV protection. While it’s good to have some options I think there are way too many if anything. I am not quite sure whether you really need separate programs for towels, bedding and cotton. We use 2 or 3 programs regularly and barely use the others. What we do tend to use a lot is the ability to spin at 1400 RPM or wash at 90 degrees so the customization options are great.

The 8KG drum is a good size and 1 kg up from our previous machine. While I’m a big believer in “bigger is better”, for us 8 KG is fine as anything more wouldn’t fit in our dryer anyway and this will take care of a decent amount of laundry. Multiple large bedsheets no issue here and as the door is nice and bog too it’s easy to fit put them in.

OVERALL VERDICT We’re very happy with our new talking washing machine, it feels and looks well built, is very quiet, has a lot of great features that make the process truly more convenient although there are a few that are more fun than useful and – not entirely unimportant for a washing machine – it does a great job doing the laundry with the 90 degree cycle and 1400 RPM spinning.

Going forward I can only suggest Haier works on a washing machine that can feed the dryer, fold the laundry and puts it back in the cupboards, up till then we’ll just enjoy this one.

UPDATE While being very happy with the performance of the washing machine, after 4 years it stopped working from one day to the next. We had it checked and where told that it was an issue with a connection between control boards, something that happens fairly regularly with Haier washing machines apparently. We were told it is hardly worth repairing as the costs would be significant so we ended up buying another washing machine (the repair man recommended a Bosch which is what we always bought in the past…… and bought again). Rather unfortunate this occured because up to the day it broke down it worked very well (we even bought a Haier heat pump dryer as we were quite impressed with the brand). Hopefully Haier sorts this.

Upmarket good looking performance washer – This is the first time that I have had the opportunity to own and use a front-loading washing machine in our household. My previous 8.5kg top loading machine has served me well for the past 15 years and at the time of upgrade was working perfectly fine and had never had any breakdowns or problems. It went from serving a family of 5 down to just… Read more

my wife and I and had endured at least 5 house moves, the last from Tasmania to South East Queensland with a 5-month period of storage in between. It was reliable, great value, and did the job adequately but was never able to move the more stubborn stains even in hot water using stain remover. Nowadays we do 3 washes a week mostly with normal everyday clothing, towels, healthcare uniforms and bed linen.

As I am retired, I often take care of the house chores, including clothes washing and have a set routine for doing this. Neither my wife or I have ever separated clothes by colour and only do separate washes on new items which normally get thrown in with our dark bed sheets. I have never had an issue with this but understand that my late mother ‘would have kittens.’ I find it uneconomical to separate as the machine would never have a full load. Furthermore 75% of my washing is in cold water but since having a new machine I like that it heats its own water rather than me having to pay using gas to heat water. We have a very large solar system and even when water is being heated, I still send power to the grid so straight out this is an energy saving.

So, I have had this machine for about 1 month. It arrived packed very basic, not using much cardboard or foam but wrapped in plastic film. This packing system is strong, minimalist, and protects the machine well. Transport bolts need to be removed before installation with the supplied spanner! The first thing I noticed is that the profile of the machine and footprint is smaller in dimensions compared to my current washer. I have a disability so decided to buy a cupboard that lifts the machine up 50 cm. I bought this as a flat pack from Bunnings and took my time to assemble it. If buyers wish to do this it is imperative you get a cupboard that is made to support a front loader as I noticed the cupboard was double walled, heavy duty, and had the bonus of a draw underneath. Reasons for this I will mention later. Lifting the machine enables me to put the basket below the opening and just shuffle the clothes in and I don’t need to bend as low or crouch down.

My wife and I installed the washer in our laundry adjacent to the outside entrance on top of the cupboard. Please note this is a really heavy object hence the heavy-duty lifting cupboard, 70 kg in fact! About 3 times heavier than our top loader as it uses counter balance weights essential when its spinning to prevent it from shaking apart. It takes 2 adults to do the lifting and position it. Also, you need to have a spirit level as its essential to have both the cupboard and machine dead level for balanced and safe operation. Failure to do this would justifiably void any warranty. The machine has adjustable legs and comes with a tool for adjustments. Ours was dead level before I connected power and water. As it heats its own hot water only the cold tap connection is needed and it use a standard drainage hose to the outlet. I encountered my first annoyance though as I read the installation instructions area of the manual. The details are at the very back. Strange really as this is the first part of the process so I constantly had to refer to this area. I think that this machine should come with a Quick Setup guide with installation being the very first part.

When positioned and connected I noticed that this is a very solid object and seemed well built with no sharp edges or outside flaws. It has a ‘piano black’ finish on the control panel and looks very upmarket but it shows fingerprints and needs wiping down to keep it looking clean. The rest of the body was white and only required the occasional wipe down. It has a very large dark tinted door. The only feature I think it lacks is inverted lifting handles on each side to assist in lifting and positioning as there are very few places to hold and move it. About 2/3 of the way up would be ideal. I noticed my old machine had this feature and it was much easier to lift and move due to its weight. I think this is an essential feature that should be included in future models. All the connection hoses and cords are supplied and happen to be the perfect length for our laundry. I made several attempts to connect this item using the advertised WI FI via the App and with the on/off button without success. I just assumed as it was such a new model this had not been perfected as yet and I will attempt it again in a few months. It could have even been due to ongoing Internet issues. This is a feature I could probably do without but for some in this new electronic world it may be a deal breaker. I struggled to get the App to even find the machine but I am sure overtime it will be improved. I presume that the App will allow timer use but here in Queensland washing cannot be left in a machine after completion as the humidity causes it to smell in minutes and results in a re-wash.

Overall, I found the instruction manual not user friendly and as I said to get the basics done a quick set up guide to connect and get the first load washing would be great. After I connected, I just wanted to get it up and running and then later I read the manual for the more detailed instructions. Typical male I suppose. The first thing I noticed when opening the door and looking in that the 8kg tub was half the size of my 8.5kg top loader. I know that front load washing is a different process but this is obviously where water savings are made. Never the less I still do the same amount of washing with the same volume. If I had to do more it would defeat the purpose by having to do more washes over cost savings. Over time I have done many different modes of washing, testing the machine from economy settings to heavy duty settings just to see how it performed. Economy preset produced the shortest spin dry and clothes come out much wetter but not dripping. Spin RPM can also be increased if you wish to. Not a problem if you have plenty of sunny days. I have used all of the hot water settings and I even changed spin dry times as a test. The one thing I noticed, that other than the most economical setting, everything came out very clean. I even washed the dog bedding on a separate occasion and I found the UV wash was brilliant. The bedding came out clean without smell. I watched the interior during the spin cycle and can see the UV light flashing! Removing such smells could not be achieved with my old machine. I loved all the different settings and cycled through using the rotating knob on the left or the more involved buttons to the left of the dial. I have the instruction book on top of the machine for easy reference and I have already saved my favourite setting for everyday washes. I had 1 black t shirt that had a long-time stain that my old machine could not remove even with stain remover. After 3 attempts, with stain remover, on a standard setting the new machine all but removed this. I really could not fault its ability to clean everything. I also noticed that the machine ran very quiet and was hard to hear from our living area. The spin was the loudest process and even this was very acceptable. If you were a mother with babies sleeping during the day, I doubt it would wake them.

Another test I performed was washing a queen size blanket and deliberately having it hanging out the door but closing it. I set it up and it notified me with an error code and a chime that the door was not secured for washing. Once cleared it restarted and started the cycle. It cleaned the blanket and with the use of the UV setting it smelt like new. I did the same with similar size doona with outstanding results on the cotton setting. Furthermore, I used both powder and liquid soap, both from Aldi. Both the more upmarket product of this brand and they performed equally as well. From past experience I prefer powder as I find liquid can leave a slimy residue in the bowl over time, however I went 50:50 for the purpose of testing. When dispensing powder, it has to be done each wash whereas soap can be held in volume in the dispenser and the machine chooses to use what it needs after it weighs the clothing prior to starting the cycle. The dispenser is on the left, easy to use, and with the push of a button removes to be cleaned. I guess it’s a personal preference thing with no great difference. Perhaps a small sample from the manufacturer of powder and liquid could come with the machine on purchase. My advice is to give yourself time to use this machine to find the best setting for your requirements. There are many combinations and at first it can be a little confusing but after a month both my wife and I can operate the machine without the instruction book. I find this machine to be well made, very stylish with an upmarket appearance, solid and very capable at what it sets out to do. I have had many machines over time and I always considered the Haier brand to be more of a budget type brand for users starting out. I found this with most of their white goods. This machine has stepped up and changed my mind a bit. Not only does it look good, it performs well and meets my expectations. It has the feel of a more commercial machine and only time will tell if it has the longevity. I believe that it’s backed up with a 2-year warranty supported by Fisher & Paykel in Australia as I believe Haier is now the parent company. I have deliberately done this test and review without looking at the price as I did not want to be dictated by its retail value however as I write these last few lines, I checked to see retailers in Australia are selling these machines for between $700 to $850. The models go up to 10kg in size however the dimensions are very similar. No doubt as they become more common and with ‘specials’ this will make them a bargain choice and I would think it would be one of the best value machines in Australia.

Now for the Pros Appears to be economical in both electricity and water consumption. Good array of washing machine model sizes and settings to suit small to large families. It does the job of cleaning very well. The UV setting works really well especially when removing odours. Very quiet. Even the jingle at the end is amusing! But can be turned off if need be. Fits in older laundries due to size and works well elevated. Removes stubborn stains over time.

The Cons Its heavy! Really Heavy. Needs 2 adults to position. It MUST be level to operate safely and is more ergonomic in an elevated position. Doing this adds to the cost if buying a cupboard for lifting the machine. The cupboard must also be level. Lacks a Quick Setup Guide as the instruction book is basic, confusing, and not in chronological order. Lacks Inverted lifting handles on side for easier moving and placement.

In conclusion I would suggest this is an excellent front-loading machine that looks good, does the job, and is economical both in running costs and purchase price. I think its definitely wort buying at this level.

Washing Machine Technology is Advancing – Let’s start with the positive; it cleans well, looks modern and seems to be well-made. I opted for the 10kg size which is a great size for a family of four adults. UV light to kill bacteria in your wash is a great idea, especially during a Covid pandemic. I have used it several times, especially when washing face masks. But I can also see that… Read more

it would be very useful in other situations such as in cold/flu season or even a gastro outbreak when you really want to eradicate germs.

The refresh cycle is a nice feature, perfect for times when you want to freshen up an item of clothing you’ve worn once or twice but don’t see the need for a full wash. However, I didn’t notice a huge reduction in creases.

Auto-dosing is only available for liquid detergent, not powder. So, my question is: if I put in 750ml of liquid detergent and then want to use powder for a cycle, will the machine end up using both lots of detergent?

An option for 'delayed start' is something I used frequently. However, it doesn't exist on this machine (it is briefly mentioned on P17 of the manual) but there isn’t one. Thought the app might have brought this functionality to the machine but it doesn't.

The audible beep when changing cycles/settings is quite loud, you can turn it off but ideally it would be nice to have a low/medium/high setting. By turning off the beeps it also turns off the tune at the end to let you know the cycle has completed. I think that should have been independent of the beeps for changing cycles and functions.

The app is very limited (and not per the manual). You need to download Smart HQ. It tells you how many washes you have done and has a countdown timer. You can't control the machine or its functions unless you are standing next to the machine and have just configured your wash cycle - then you can press 'start' on the app. You can't configure your settings on the machine first, walk away for even 5 minutes to let your pre-stain treatment work and then use the app to start it because after 2 minutes of inactivity the machine turns off. Then when you use the app to say 'Start Now' it tells you to go to the machine and configure it (see pic). The only thing that it does do that I really find useful is that it notifies me of when my washing is finished! Although, it’s not accurate.

I liked the idea of a light inside the drum when the wash cycle ends but it's only on when it initially finishes. It isn't activated by opening the door, so it doesn't turn back on when you come back to unload the machine 10 minutes later. You need to be there as soon as the cycle finishes otherwise you need to power up the machine for the light to come back on.

Dual spray nozzles to clean the door and rubber seals at the end of your wash is a great function, except I have twice encountered sludge/gunk on the door and rubber gasket whilst washing my son's work gear (pics attached) so it didn’t actually clean away the residue very well.

You can change default settings on the machine for each individual programme and save them, but you can't see at a glance what you've changed. You need to press on the function, e.g., spin speed or temperature to see what value you have saved. Would have preferred a display showing all of the set values all of the time.

'Downloaded' cycle? No explanation of what this is anywhere. A definite oversight to add this option on the machine when there is no information about it at all. It's listed in the manual as a programme, but you can't add any type of detergent!

Although minor, it would be good to have an 'everyday/mixed' wash. Not sure whether to wash t-shirts, hoodies and sweats as 'cottons' or 'synthetics' (the manual mentions an everyday wash but again, this doesn't exist)

Things that I think were overlooked on this machine are a ‘rinse’ cycle and a ‘delay start’ option. I also noticed that when the machine was out of level, it couldn’t correct itself. I had to manually intervene and rearrange all the wet towels. My previous washer had an inbuilt auto levelling feature.

I know I’m being picky, but the manual needs improving. It has a lot of spelling mistakes, bad grammar and wrong information (e.g., Wi-Fi connection and remote mode) and interestingly 'installation procedure' starts on page 26 of the manual. ‘Before first use’ is a small paragraph on page 17 under 'Odour removal' so I missed that step.

Overall, it is a very good washing machine but there is room for improvement and perhaps being Wi-Fi connected there is scope for new things to be added. I can’t fault its main purpose of cleaning clothes (because it did this very well) but there are some things I’ve found with this product that just don’t seem well implemented.

Front Loader Convert – **Updated 29/3/25** After 3.5 years, I have had to replace the washer. At the 2-year mark, it started leaking from the bottom left and right holes under the machine. This was diagnosed as the dispenser unit requiring replacement. At the 1-year warranty mark for that work, the same leak reoccurred. Instead of battling the puddles of water, we're… Read more

buying another washer. Haier/Fisher & Paykel have been very easy to deal with. I'm hoping my machine was simply an outlier.

**Original** I wash every day and am very sensitive to water and energy usage. I value my own time so like to spend the minimum necessary to get a load of washing in, clean and out again.

I read through the instruction manual prior to use and to get the most of the machine, you need to. There are lots of options. The manual was easy to understand and follow excluding not being clear that you need to continue to press some buttons to toggle options.

Installation requires connection to a cold water tap only. Be aware that there is lots of movement in the waste pipe throughout a wash cycle. Ensure your pipe is adequately long and secured to stop it flipping out of the drain.

What’s good? - It does what it should – it cleans clothes (without leaving a detergent residue) in a timely fashion and with minimal energy/water usage. - It makes less machine noise than my top loader and is noticeably less noisy on my wooden floors (even without the floor buffer). - You can stop the cycle to add more garments. This is a brilliant feature and a huge step in overcoming a barrier to entry for top-loader users. - Eco mode really does reduce the time and does not diminish the wash quality. I ended up using this as standard. - UV protect is a unique and welcome addition although it is impossible to test whether this actually does anything. - It is able to spin at 1400 (although not in Eco mode). - It plays a happy, melodious tune to denote the end of the wash. - It has a light at the end of the cycle (although please see improvements, Haier).

What could be improved? - The capacity is average. It was adequate for my everyday use (queen bed sheets plus pillowcases plus ordinary laundry) but I was unable to fit a large mink blanket in. I was hoping a 9kg machine would be able to handle that alone. - The light should turn on when the door is open. It doesn’t stay on for very long at the end of the cycle and it is dark in there. - The instruction manual should include approximate times of the wash selections. - Most machines have a delay function so it is strange that this one doesn’t. Although the wifi connectivity can be used to manage this remotely. - You can save a ‘favourite’ but what it really means is overwriting an existing default program. Be aware, the instruction manual is incorrect – the two buttons need to be pressed before the cycle is started to enable the save. - Make the lint collector easy to get to.

Conclusion This is an excellent washing machine with good energy/water economy. It is nice looking and offers endless options. It has convinced me to stick with a front loader because of the improved quality of the wash and the comparable cycle run times. As another ambassador has suggested, do yourself a favour and buy the 10kg or larger to ensure you have enough space for a family’s needs.

Intelligent and Intuitive – When I first received this machine I thought I'd never be able to use it. It's got so many functions my 12 year old Miele didn't have. I also thought I'd need to get my son up to connect it to wifi. I didn't. On this though, don't use the manual. It only has instructions for setting up air conditioning. You need to download the SMARTHQ APP.… Read more ·  1

However, I will say, I'm older and after a couple of days, I really had this machine worked out. It really is quite intuitive to use.

Wifi was a function I first thought - why would you need wifi on a washing machine. But hey! I wanted to try all the functions so I set it up and quickly realised it really has its benefits for working mums/dads. You can put the washing into the machine, close the door, select the program you want and walk away. Then before you leave work you can start the machine up from the app. By the time you get home, your washing is all done and ready to pop into the dryer. A real time saver for busy working people, or anyone who is out for the day and doesn't have time to wait for a load to finish before you leave, you can set it up and then start it from your phone so it's finished by the time you get home. No wet laundry sitting damp in the machine for hours. Very handy function. The app only lets you start the machine you cannot select programs from it so everything has to be set on the machine before you leave. As far as timing goes I love the way as you are scrolling through to select the program you want, it gives you the length of time the each program will take, so no guesswork there.

I don't like the manual that comes with it. The instructions for DAILY USE are on age 14 of a 31 page manual. And on page 17 second paragraph from the bottom it suggests before first use, to remove any odours run the machine without a load on Cotton 90 degrees 600rpm spin. Tucking that away in the middle of the manual isn't helpful. However, my machine was perfect, no odour at all to begin with. But I'd done a few loads working through the earlier pages of the manual before I came across that. MY FAULT I think the only page on that manual l didn't read was page 3 "the content" where it does tell you Daily use is on page 14.

Auto dosing is a function that I will no longer live without. I love it. It's saved me heaps on detergent. 750ml liquid detergent got me through 46 washes. The washing is certainly coming out cleaner than my old Miele too.

Page 12 of the manual tells you what the maxium load is per program, as well as the preset temperature, spin speed and the auto functions that program has. I found that particularly helpful. However, a feature I love is as well a being able to manually change the temp/spin speed, you can select a program you like, set the spin/temp you prefer, and lock that in. That way you don't have to keep manually changing the temp or spin speed each time you use that program. The maximum spin speed however is 1400rpm. My daughter has a Bosch and that can spin up to 1600 revs. I love that on hers as the washing comes out super dry. I think the Haeir could spin dry a little better than it does. But overall it's not an issue.

What is an issue for me though is. When I first started using it I'd sometimes forget to change the preset spin speed. When I selected the spin cycle to spin them again, the machine first lets in a small amount of water. A similar amount to what it lets in when you use the refresh cycle. I really hate that. If I want to give the clothes an extra spin to dry them out more - adding water to the spin defeats the purpose.

The Refresh cycle is great, I do love that. I had a coat in the wardrobe that I had folded up. The coat was naturally creased. I ran it through the refresh cycle and hung it up - came out. beautiful. So I'm really happy with that. I also ran my grandson's wool school jumper that has been sitting in the bottom of his school bag (never worn since it's last wash apparently) but creased like crumpled up paper. Again running it through the refresh cycle and hanging it up brought it back to life. No ironing or re-washing needed.

This morning I washed my sneakers in it. They've come out beautifully and there wasn't the thumping around I get in my Miele, so again very happy with that. And the 15 minute cycle is brilliant for my microfibre cleaning cloths.

In around two weeks I've certainly put this poor machine through it's paces. As there are only two of us here and I really wanted to give it a good test I have been driving to my daughter's (she's in my 5km limit luckily), picking up her washing that she pops out the front as I'm coming down her street and I've been doing her washing too. There are 6 of them in that household. 4 of them little boys. Hence the amout of loads I've done in the last couple of weeks. There hasn't been one day the machine hasn't been used It's gone through every single fabric from silk, satin, wool, denim, cotton, towels etc.., and has even beautifully cleaned 3 doonas from wet beds that a couple of the young ones had. They came out very clean and odour free. There is a UV Sanitise function on this machine. So perhaps that really did contribute to removing the odour from the doonas, because as I said they did come out odour free and clean in one wash,

I have given this machine a fair test I think, more than fair, I feel l feel sorry for it :). Overall I love it. I'd highly recommend it , it has been faultless . Also, I was highly impressed with Haeir Customer Support. I rang them to ask about this water coming into the machine on the extra spin program that I'd used and they were so helpful, quick to answer the phone too. The lady who answered couldn't help me. But she did't say....I don't know sorry. And that was that. She said I don't know. Let me check with our technical team. That's customer service.

My only dislikes as I said. The Manual, the water coming in on the spin cycle, and the maxium spin speed of 1400rpm. But definately a great machine. Photo 1 the programs Photo 2 The App and photo 3 the Haeir HWF10AN1 Front loader.

Technology has moved on – Technology moves so fast, my wife and I are constantly amazed about all the features manufacturers pack into their products. Case in point, this Haier Washing machine. We've always had Miele and my wife was hesitant in switching, but it was quite old, and more importantly, only 6.5kg load, so here we are. The good bits: Apart from being able to… Read more

program a whole lot of things, operating this thing is pretty straight forward. It washes well, runs pretty quietly and uses less water and electricity than the Miele, and that is saying something. Some clever engineer, also put a light inside the drum that comes on when you open the door after the cycle, so you don't miss anything and the machine plays a melody to alert you that it's ready. So that's helpful. And with a 9kg capacity, it still is not bigger than the Miele, but fits a lot more clothes. Negatives: We'll see re longevity and quality build, I guess. The LED lights and descriptions for each button are small. There's no 'Add Extra Water' program nor does it countdown the time til the end of the program whilst it's running. Other than that, so far, so good.

First time for a Front Loading Washing Machine – We have come a long way in Washer tech. From mums copper tub in the laundry to her Pope Ringer, several top loaders with belt driven standard frame motors to the latest inverter servo driven programmable washers - 3 cheers for modern technology. My previous employment (now retired) was with Simpson/Email/Electrolux whitegoods so I think a know a… Read more

little about washing machine, dryers, fridges, air conditioners etc. and bringing up 2 kids as well you learn a lot. Firstly the advertised size/weight capacity of the Washing Machine is an issue. It was very timely to receive this machine for review as my previous Fisher and Paykel 8kg top loader had recently broken down and was awaiting repairs. Physically measuring the 8kg F&P washer drum size diameter and to the depth to underside of the top balance ring, allowing for the agitator the F&P drum was 40% larger in volume. I was able previously able to load a Queen size fitted sheet, top sheet, light weight summer King size quilt cover and 2 standard and 2 European pillow cases. With the water added the sheets settled to just over half the drum volume. Enough to ensure a good agitation, water circulation and of course cleaning efficiency without twisting of the sheets. The Haier was a quilt short on volume. The reason for such a long preamble - As good as the Haier Front Loader is to operate and to give a very good cleaning effort - spend the little extra and buy the larger 10kg version. Now back this purpose of this review - to how the machine functions. Small underwear garments, shirts and tops, tea towels etc were easy, large beach/bath towels were managed quit well but cleaning heavy winter quilt covers, heavy soiled sports outfits, work wear and overalls the machine struggled to clean effectively. Long presoaking is more essential as the washing cycle was never aggressive enough. At least the development of the programming, functions and Control Panel, once a weakness, is now at a high standard and easy to use and understand. The water heating is new for me, as a hot and cold tap was always the norm. Have not done a functional efficiency evaluation of preheating the water in situ against a instantaneous or storage heater using a hot tap installation. I did settle on 30>40° C max. water temperature as being the most efficient, and 800 RPM spin dry for cotton shirts - hang them up dampish so they dry straight to minimise ironing, and maximum speed for heavy towels came out surprisingly dry. As stated peviously, considering the asking price for this washing machine which represents very good value, pay the extra and get the biggest Haier 10k Front loading washing machine. You wont be disappointed. There are a few functions I have not needed to use yet but will report/update later if there are any issues. Enjoy.

Innovation in washing machines world at affordable price point – In the last 30 years or so we all witnessed huge advances in household appliances tech. While some of the changes were evolutionary some of them were truly revolutionary. Let's start quickly by unpacking that so we can truly appreciate what Haier HWF10AN1 10kg Front Loader brings to us. In my books all evolutionary changes would comprise features… Read more

that make our lives more convenient, but not changing the fundamentals of operation. For example, bigger washing loads, add garment, inverter motor, auto dosing, even WiFi connectivity I would class as an evolutionary advance. Haier HWF10AN1 10kg Front Loader brings to us something new, something that many of us may not even appreciate initially or even take for granted. But trust me, if this innovation works, it is revolutionary and should change the general perception of hygienic clothes wash in cold water. The feature is UV light antibacterial wash treatment. The UV light meant to kill most of the bacteria in a wash. While sounds underwhelming, this is something that detergents are not doing too well while polluting the environment. Detergents are great at washing stains, give our washing more pleasant odour, but they’re not good for bacterial cleaning. Why is it so important? Because it is very hard to wash well all fabrics, especially polyester, after they have been exposed to a sweat. Kids sport clothes, uniforms, gym clothes etc. Until now we wasted a lot of energy to heat up the washing load (up to 90C), we polluted the environment while adding more detergent and we aged our clothes prematurely by not being gentle on them. All of that not necessarily ended up with the outcome we were trying to achieve - clean, nice smelling clothes (or perhaps just not smelling like they have not been washed). I'm so excited about the UV light antibacterial treatment in the washing machine. I did a couple of kids sports and my gym clothes wash with minimal detergent and UV light on and all smelly clothes no more after the quick one hour wash - amazing! As for other aspects of the Haier HWF10AN1 10kg Front Loader it not only does what it is supposed to do, but does it very well. The inverter motor ensures quietness of operation, liquid soap auto dosing works well in combination with UV light (need to enable it on every wash but Sensitive setting - as it is not default setting. Why Haier, why?) The washing machine presents you with plenty of default settings and a lot of choice to customise those settings. The panel is a touch sensitive one - so a bit of trial and error there while learning how to use that. The washing machine is WiFi enabled. However, please watch my video about some “set up frustrations'': here https://youtu.be/1CTUp5yexic as the setting up process wasn’t as streamlined as I’d hoped. However, it is a very new product and I expected some imperfections. Also, I’d like to mention that the washing machine WiFi card is 2.4ghz (from what I can see. All my 5ghz networks were not visible via app interface). If your home wifi is 5ghz only you may not be able to set up the wifi on this washing machine at all. It is not a bad thing, most home automation devices are 2.4ghz wifi, so this was expected. All in all I believe that the Haier HWF10AN1 10kg Front Loader is a high quality washing machine with many evolutionary and revolutionary features that you may not expect at this price point. I would not hesitate to recommend this washer when asked. Well done Haier!
