This is about Maryborough fresh and save. I will take the fall for being charged incorrect prices on items like 1.25L Mt franklin water because I didn't have time to argue your scan price and shelf talkers being different, I'll wear not watching to see which specials scan and which don't like the 3 for $2 pasta packets, I let the off pork… Read more
shoulder roast slide because I really should have brought it straight back that day of purchase. They were kept in an open chiller and was in date but clearly not at correct temperature but today while using the self serve checkout I was abused by another customer. There were 3 lanes open and full, the express lane and one self serve register that had no one lining up when I got there. I had a total of 21 items, a bag full. I couldn't find shallots, I now know that this store calls them eschallots. This cranky old lady stepped in and couldn't find them either ( she was lined up in express mind you). Then she yelled at me for being too slow and having too many items. This is after staff yelling instructions at me too throwing my concentration off and made me slower. All this after shoplifters making a commotion. This store is not safe and I never listened to the elderly who said they'd never go but now I do. I'll patronise other stores and maybe Hervey Bay instead.
Not enough checkouts. Good prices but takes too long to exit the store
Armidale store. They had a different section for brand name goods, and fresh and save brand goods. They had dried apricots in the brand name section, but they also had them in a fresh and save brand only section, which was a small section, easy to miss. They were much cheaper there, so I got them there. Overall, many things were noticeably cheaper. Sweet potatoes for $1.99kg, mushrooms for $7.99 a kilo, and they weren't even on special.
Good specials but bakery hit and miss – Usually go to Deagon. They have some very good specials now and again. The fruit and veges are usually of a good quality. Their bakery is very hit and missin the quality of their product. I recently purchased a fruit and custard tart but found there was no custard in it. The manager didn't seem to care less and the others remained on the shelf. I recall when there use to be about 1cm of custard in it. Times are tough.
Better than stupid aldi – Love fresh n save!! Its waaaay better than Aldi's and is better stocked! Cheaper than Aldi's and the fact it's Queensland owned and run is even better! Rockhampton needs one badly instead of a second Aldi's which I don't understand! I travel from rocky to Maryborough just to shop at fresh n save.
Store is a big benefit for shoppers at Hervey Bay – I now do around 90 percent of my shopping at Fresh & Save Hervey Bay. Meat, Fruit & Veggies are a huge saving. Frozen Salmon 1 Kilo for around $15 per kilo brought this back on our menu. Bread and Rolls are cheaper than elsewhere and great quality. Special days like $2 days allow us stock up on many items. The store is mostly competitive on other… Read more
stocked lines. They must have really impacted Aldi, Coles and Woolworths. On balance small inconveniences like trolly shortages that occur occasionally are worth tolerating compared with the savings made.
VALUE – I have been to this store often and have found the quality and value second to none.
Great place to shop – I just wish they could open a store in Bundaberg as it undermines our savings commuting to maryborough. The meat selection is good quality and great variety.
Low prices, fresh produce, friendly staff - what more could you ask for? – My family and I love Fresh & Save in Richlands - amazing prices, friendly staff - wide range. The only place we go to shop from here on in!
Filling big shoes – We have a second property at Maryborough in Qld. Despite this city being much smaller than the one our principal residence is near, Maryborough has a Fresh and Save grocery store, the bigger place doesn't. Anyway we've found ourselves doing exponentially bigger shops at Fresh and Save to the extent that we have now completely severed our links… Read more
with Coles, and Woolworths is on very thin ice. The car is very full indeed after our regular monthly visits to the Maryborough place!!
I suspect Fresh and Save may form part of the Metcash/IGA coalition, since they have a smattering of generic brands from both the IGA and black and gold ranges. But their pricing is good, staff friendly and their fairly regular specials are truly knock your socks off.
As a much appreciated bonus, they also seem to focus on their core duties instead of playing influencers for whatever divisive political thing may be happening. Makes a very welcome change these days!! And they were always very welcoming during covid too.
The only downside is that they make you pack your own groceries, and have virtually no space for you to do this in, so you have to become very dextrous as you whack your stuff into your bags/trolley right in the face of the checkout person. They're usually friendly and good for a chat while you do it though.
Between Drake's, Supa IGA and now Fresh and Save, we see no particular need to ever visit the big guys again.
Eagleby Qld Fresh & Save – Shortened counters in new refurbished store. If l wanted to pack my own & save you money, l would shop at Aldi. Disgusting for a disabled person, not to mention embarrassing to hold up the line. The short queue is the same. I've met ONE lovely lady that packed for me. And don't blame the air-borne COVID with nary a mask in sight. Sack the pen-pusher that doesn't recognize real world situations..
Not fresh enough – Prices are usually better than Woolworths by a small margin. But I've found food at the Richlands store is often expired one day after buying it in the fruit and bread section. Also bread that is about to expire is sold for only 0.32 cents cheaper which is extremely greedy and inconsiderate. Last fortnight I lost 10 dollars worth of plums and 5 dollars worth of bananas which went off in my fridge only 4 days after buying them. Show details
Disgusting family pies – The family pie was made with two bases . They messed up they only had a cup of mince in it 90% pastry I have pics it was inedible

Know better, choose better.
Value Plus Exceptional Service – Best BBQ chicken ever and we’ll priced. Staff are extremely helpful and plenty room for wandering round. Love the dark rye bread and can be sliced thin.
lack of products and roof repairs needed – This place doesn't have a delicatessen for fresh seafood, meats etc.. It has a smaller variety of products than the main retail stores When it rains the roof leaks so they put buckets on the floors to catch the water.. not a very nice store to shop in.. dated The Self-Serve check out - Limited to 15 items.. (so stand in line at the other check… Read more
outs and bigger orders, if you have a few more items) If they overcharge on a priced item, they only refund the difference, even though it was the stores inaccuracy ..... Other food stores (for overcharging) will refund the whole price of that item! Unhygienic with trolleys and baskets, Limited hand wipes or liquid for hands I hate putting the coin in to use the trolley,... sometimes I have found it's a problem getting my coin back (eg the way the trolleys are put in the bay, or no trolley with the key to push my coin out)
People who work there seem nice and helpful I do like some of their specials in the fresh food section(fruit/vege's) and their $2 week- Also handy to shop on that side of town- Great opening hours
Pleasant surprise – Much greater range than expected. Staff lovely. Prices of what we bought were cheaper. Didn’t find bread making flour but we will be shopping at your Beerwah store from now on.
Decent but no better or worse then the Big 3 – I feel a lack of a catalogue does damage alot of sales. On the website they only advertise a ultra small super specials... Need to advertise all they have on special & maybe more will come through the door. OK look this is a decent supermarket. Some excellent specials tho still alot of gold label products from the old IGA but all in all a decent… Read more
shop. The meat section is where you can save some decent $$$ IMHO & unlike Coles or Woollies you can get readily available hard to find cuts of meats & variety you simply can't get at the other 3.
The bread imo is easily the best available anywhere. Roast chook is amazing.
Look all in all this I a decent supermarket but it won't save you $100 like alot of silly people claim.
Great alternative to Coles/woolies – I love that we have the option to go to fresh and save it does seem to be slightly cheaper across a lot of items and certain specials are very good value. Savings on meat are smaller but ok - the dog meats seemed quite cheap like chicken necks etc. Some items are the same price as Coles/Woolies. The only issue was the $2 for a trolley & I… Read more
didn’t realise I would need that. It was too difficult to sort that out so I just shopped for what I could carry in the end.
Shopping baskets – For the last year, it's becoming harder to find a shopping basket at the Maryborough store, there's usually none at the entrance doors and staff tell you to get a used basket (not disinfected). Baskets are usually abundant at the bigger coles and woolworths which is why i won't buy at f+s anymore, come on girls, shopping baskets are a fundamental thing in ALL supermarkets, think customer service and HYGIENE. Unhygienic Disgusting Cashier Habit – Tuesday March 23, approx 11.20 am, as I approach the checkout, the Cashier wiped her nose on her hand, then wiped her fingers on her TShirt. I was shocked to witness this action by the Cashier, right in front me. I complained to the Supervisor, and Logan City Health Dept. Then had to disinfect all the items from that store, at home. This filthy… Read more
practice by the same Cashier has happened before, about 6 months ago. I complained then, and nothing has changed. There are frequent loud speaker announcements in that store all day long, about Safe Distancing, Hygiene and Hand Washing. Apparently, that Cashier must think, it doesn't apply to her. I will no longer shop at Eagleby the Fresh Food Market, ,
Great service – Much better than the big boys easy to navigate around the store and the selection is ok for what I want the meat was very good and well priced the service was great
