Find the best option for your sittuation – This is a 1500w heather that the sales rep says is rated for a 15 meter square room. Using this in a room smaller than 10 meter square, the heater takes up to 30 minutes to warm up, then another 30 minutes to heat up the room. It holds the heat for longer when you turn it off. takes a long time to pre-heat and then keep the heat going. Find a… Read more
second hand heater or buy something better suited for your space.
The digital control panel is very annoying, there is a loud obnoxious beep that cannot be turned off. Every time you press a button it beeps loud enough for everyone in the house to hear.
All in all, after a good hour, this does eventually warm the room. So long as your room is well sealed up and you do not mind remembering to pre-heat the room.
Pumps out warm air upwards – Does the job cerh well for heating a large room. Stick it under a fan(in reverse for winter) and it quickly heats the space. The heat only comes out the top, thats the point of this style of heater. It is not a radiant or infrared style which is for heating a person directly. Show details
overrated reviews by others – so bad this heater as not warming up properly. what is the use of heat going upwards & not sideward as well. spent more than $300 for such rubbish! Show details

Used for kids bedrooms – We leave this on high with a Heater Mate thermostat plug to do the regulating. Keep it on at 20 degrees all night. Great for the kids( 4&8yrs) bedrooms in winter. It clicks when heating up and cooling but once I’d explained what that was it didnt bother them and never woke them. Expensive though. But works like you hope it will. And yes the foldaway wheels do make it easier to store away in summer. Show details

Could have done better – I did some research on a good quality, efficient, electric heater we could use during the day whist our solar system was feeding into the house. This heater had good reviews. I think I could have done a lot better for the money. Positive. Works well once set up. Appears to be low cost to keep running when heated. We also have a ceiling fan to… Read more
help distribute the warmth. Negatives. Heavy and the wheels fold in when on carpet if you are not going in a straight line. Should have a handle on both ends for ease of movement or the handle at the other end of the heater so you are not pulling the heater onto the power cord. The timer setup is fiddly and hard to read, also the thermostat is very hard to read with dark numbers on a black background. The fins are covered, understandably, to avoid possible burns to children, however that forces most of the heat directly upwards. Fortunately we have a ceiling fan to disperse the heat better. Drags a lot of power to start, so, turning off for an hour or so makes it costly to start up again.
Quiet, very slow radiated heat – This my review for the DeLonghi Dragon 4, TRD4 Series (Model TDR42400MT). This is an electric oil filled radiator with 11 fins. The packaging is marked with a "7 year warranty". DeLonghi is an Italian company although this heater is marked "Made in China". Unboxing and assembling this heater was easy as the castor wheels (made of plastic) are… Read more
already attached and only need to be folded out into position. This heater does have a new heater smell which the manufacturer advises with instructions on how to get rid of that smell in a couple of hours.
There are 3 main reasons I chose this particular model: 1. This heater has more metal, an enlarged radiant surface area, as more metal surface area produces +25% more radiant heat and works more efficiently. (However this doesn't mean that this is an energy saving heater. The packaging and information provided does not offer an Energy Star Rating). 2. Another reason I chose this model is that it has round physical dials with knobs for selection and adjusting the settings. 3. And lastly, I chose this model because it is rated at 2400 watts which is the highest energy output level I could find in Australia, suitable for my large open floor plan (I purchased 2 x of these Dragon 4 heaters for this reason).
These radiator heaters work very slowly and very quietly. They do take a long while to heat up the space. (I didn't want a fan heater because fan heaters are noisy). I prefer to have this heater switch on and off using the built-in 24 hour timer. So this heater will warm up the area some hours before I enter the room. You can operate this heater without the timer.
I need to say that the timer Override switch is tiny and difficult to set.
Another reason I chose this type of heater is that the heating elements are enclosed and is a safer option for myself.
The Instructions manual was easy to read with large font size and clear diagrams.
If you're looking for a heater to instantly heat up a room, than this type of electric oil filled radiator heater would not be suitable for you. A lot of the heat of this radiator mainly goes straight up but it also radiates some heat slowly from the sides. The sides do get hot to touch. I like to warm my hands above this heater because that's the warmest area. This suits my needs. I've only had this heater for a week and so far it functions as it should.
Definitely does the job! – I have to start with saying that this heater is amazing for what we want it to do. We are using this heater in our baby room that is maybe 10 square meters. Please keep that in mind upon reading this. When we turn on the the heater about 30 minutes in advance, the room will be warm ( we want the room to be around 18 degrees). Usually it will drop… Read more
to around 15 degrees in there during the day in winter.
Funnily enough, when I set the thermostat on the heather to 15 degrees, the room is around 18 degrees all night. This must be because the heather is on the floor and warm air rises up. We have a separate thermometer in the room showing us the actual temperature. When the heather is set to 16 degrees, the room will be around 19 degrees.
On the lowest setting and on ECO mode, this heater barely uses electricity when the room reaches the desired temperature. I have been monitoring it for 2 weeks now, and I can say it's extremely efficient which is what I was looking for.
The heater is quite heavy, so you want to put it somewhere where you are going to leave it and not constantly move it from room to room.
There was a bit of a smell at the start, but after running it for 2 hours at full power ( as per the instructions) that smell disappeared. Can't smell anything at all right now.
Overall I'd say this heater does a wonderful job at keeping the room warm in a quiet and efficient way.

Brilliant, and effective! – The good: This heater heats up quickly, to the point that it turns itself off and you can't touch it, in around 15-20 minutes. The heater then noticeably heats up the room within 40 minutes, and then continues to increase as it reaches the desired temperature, until switching itself off. It operates silently and works to heat the room evenly. I… Read more
have a small house with one living area that joins the hallway and 3 bedrooms. I put it in the doorway and it heats up all of these rooms evenly. The bad: I believe there are other brands out there that offer similar features that cost far less! I have yet to receive my electricity bill since having this, and I am worried because I've heard that the split system AC is actually more economical?! I've never owned an oil heater before, but at times the heater makes continuous clicking sounds, maybe it's the thermostat, maybe its the metal body expanding from the heat?
Impressed – I was wary of purchasing an oil heater for a timber house with high ceilings but this thing is great. The heater pumps out hot air almost silently due to the great design. It has two timers (to turn off and turn on) so you can wake up comfortably to a warm house. Very impressed by the heater and would definitely recommend to others. Show details
Very reliable and safe product – Very reliable and safe product for medium size ,safe FOR kids ,pets & best for bed room /study.Does not take too much of humidity .Has reliable/ accurate thermostat with time control Show details

Ok heater but no timer – The heater seems ok but it does not have a timer. You can ask it to turn off in 12 hours manually but something like come on at 6:30 am turn off at 9am is not possible. Amazing for a heater built recently Show details
Nowhere near as good as our 30 year old oil column heater – Wanted to purchase an oil column heater like the one my parents have been happily using for the last 30 years. The only option available to us at my local retailer was the Delonghi Dragon 4 TRD41500ET. I was happy to purchase it, especially as I believe Delonghi to be a reputable brand. Our experience has been disappointing to say in the least -… Read more
the heater makes a 'clicking' noise constantly, not just when heating up or cooling down, but all through the night when turned on, making our sleep very disturbed. Also, the heat only radiates directly out of the top of the heater and due to the protective casing, no heat radiates from the sides of the heater. I recall in my younger years being able to rest/dry/warm up clothes on our old oil column heater and I was hoping for this functionality with our new one too, but I wouldn't dare rest anything on the top of this one as I feel like it would blow the heater up. There is a definite 'smell' that emanates from it too and so overall I wouldn't recommend this heater unfortunately.
Turn off the sound! – The heater is fabulous EXCEPT you can't turn off the sound. I set the timer to turn the unit on an hour before I wake up to heat up my room before I have to get up for work and the beep it makes to indicate it is on is so loud that it wakes me up!! The beep is totally unnecessary and if i had known about it before purchasing I wouldn't have chosen this heater. I would have given this a 5 star if the sound wasn't such an issue. Show details

Good heater, perfect for what us – I purchased for my sons room as his room gets much colder than the rest of the house, & I didn’t want to run the ducted air-con all night. I usually turn it on before I put him to bed and by that time the room is nice and warm. its easy to use and does exactly what it says it does. I don’t use the timer, I run it from bedtime until my son wakes… Read more
up. I like that I can set to a certain temperature without worrying about the room getting too hot as it has a auto shut off If it’s too hot. It was simple to set up, & the oil smell for first time use went away within a few hours. We’ve been using every night since we purchased it and have had no issues with it.
Heats well - Running costs are high – The heater is very quiet and heats the entire room effectively with the doors closed. We have the heat setting on Eco always, around 23-25 Degrees on 1 bar which is sufficient In the bedrooms for around 5 hours per day. We purchased three heaters, two for bedrooms and one for the living area. The living area is on mostly all day around 25-26… Read more
Degrees, 2 bars On ECO setting. All other appliances in the home are low energy cost and our bill was formerly $400 per winter quarter. Since buying the 2 bedroom delonghi heaters last year our bills are now $900 Per winter quarter. So disappointing as we like the heaters but the cost of heating for a 2 bed unit should not be that much.I would recommend looking for a more economical heater although can’t fault the actual heater itself.
Great value, high performance! – Excellent in heating with consistency in living room. Quiet, nice design, easy manual function. Tried different heaters (ceramic/air, brand panel heater, radiant)- suitable given asthma/excema condition. No issue with smell. Show details
Perfect as a heater – Bought this at GoodGuy and it was super effective heating up my master bedroom. I had to turn off the heater at 2am as it was hot in my bedroom (in the middle of winter). Very easy to use the dials and settings. Took less than 30mins and my room was visibly hotter. Show details
It smells so bad that you get headache in no time – I’m using this heater for the 2nd year. It still smells bad. What a waste of money! I would not recommend it. I followed all the instruction that was mentioned in the catalog. In fact I kept the heater out in open space for 8 hrs to get rid of the smell. It was just waste of electricity. Show details
Great heater, let down by timer – Overall a great heater. Easy to setup. Quiet operation. No smell after following initial use instructions. Great functions, especially eco mode. My only negative point is the timer function. I see that others have noted the same. To be clear this only has a single use 24hr count down function to turn the unit off or on to its last setting. can’t set a 24hr repeatable programme. I hoped to get around this using a smart plug/ timer but when the power is turned on the unit will go on to standby mode, rather than turn on to the last setting. Annoyed, but will survive.
Good Heater, Timer Very Disappointed With – Aim of purchasing new heater, was to have a unit switch on and off in 24 hour cycle, with no noise, replacing old unit of 20 years that had a noisy dial timer of similar size. The new units heating of the room is significantly better, with no noise, however the timer for the purchase price is unbelievably rudimentary and not functional to our… Read more
needs. I cannot believe the electronic functions of the timer are so basic, and that with the research put in to buying a new heater, I did not realise I needed to look at the timers setting ability, thinking that purchasing a more expensive product compared to the manual dial would be better an not inferior as it is.
High build quality, performs well – Heater works very well, currently heating approximately 30sqm room. The quietness and performance is yet to be tested against the electricity bill but we're confident that the heater is as efficient as you can hope for an electric heater. Temperature settings are good and usually only require setting 2 or 3. Timer clock is a labour to use. Show details
Terrible smell of Burning Oil – Bought this heater June 2019. (Just a year old) It was fine for a while, then this terrible terrible toxic smell started coming from it. The heater is well looked after. We are in our 70's and both have breathing issues and this smell has absolutely affected our lungs. Beware of this heater. It was expensive and we thought for the money we paid it would be good. Now for the stress of getting it all sorted. Show details

Quick and efficient heating – Heats very quickly and keeps the room nice and warm. Perfect for small to medium size room with kids. Has an eco mode as well, you can set a temperature and it maintains it through out the night. Show details
Can't live without it in the Caravan !! – Have been using a similar heater for years in the caravan. It is efficient and safe to leave on all night and as it is silent in operation, causes no disturbance to us or anyone parked close by. The reverse air in the caravan does a great job during the day, but at night can be too noisy to leave running, so the small silent heater is a great back up. When not in use, stores well under the bed and has survived all the travelling Show details
Awesome heater! Wish I purchased sooner! – Wishing I had bought this sooner ! I love the temperature setting as it keeps the room a constant temperature throughout the night, I’m super impressed with the heater itself as the temp setting I have for my sons room is medium on a low heat setting and the unit isn’t hot to touch. setting. Our master bedroom is very large and on a high setting takes about 15/20 minutes. This is the perfect heater for a baby/ child’s room.
The best heater that I ever had yet! – I bought this heater from Harvey Norman a few months ago and just recently used it. The unit heated up my room in 15-20 mins and it’s continue to heated for more than 8 hours. Even it’s operated through long hours but it’s not overheated like the other heaters. I’m very satisfied with this product due to it’s maintain the temperature that I set for. Show details
Timer dissapointment – Have just realised that the timer function is not repeatable and only sets a time delay to turn off or on. Very dissapointed. I already have the dragon 3 heater with manual 24hour timer which heats well so thought that this would be an improvement. I am not saying that the heater does not work well. I just think that the timer is not functional enough for operating the heater at 2 or 3 times a day only when it is required. Show details
Compact UNit – Compact unit we have had for a month no, heats up very fast and heats our bedroom very fast which is about 20 squrae meters, timer is a greatfeature which we use to assist winter drying of clothes Show details
Good but should be better – Bought this heater because sales told me it had a timer. Well it does have a time, but you have to set it every time you use it. Set it for the time delay to turn. Then alternatively set a time to turn off. Neither work together. So, this price unit should have a proper clock timer with daily and weekly programmable settings. Time of day to turn… Read more
on and time to turn off. I have this feature on a Noirot panel heater. Perfect. Good heater but lacks the programming feature.
Bad smell at max power !!! Beware & pls test ! – Pros : nice slim sophisticated design with 7 years warranty. Cons: bad smell at max thermostat setting even after using it beyond the 2 hours period. Used again after turning off still smell even on next day. Who knows if these are toxic for babies ! Please check this !!! Objects and dust can get trapped between the small chimney like tubes. Dangerous! Show details
Great heater to warm a small room – It’s fairly compact oils heater I use this to warm a small room the size of 3 x 3 m. Being an oil heater with no fan it warms the room through convection. Therefore, it gradually warms the room and eases you into the warmer temperature. The heater comes with its own manual timer which is great to set and forget. However, don’t see the point of… Read more
having 2 knobs to control the temperature. One which you set high, med, low and another with numbers from 1 - 7. I just set it to Med and and adjust the temperature with the other.
Extremely loud noises after thermostat turns on or off – This is the most disappointing appliance I have ever bought. I thought I was getting a very high quality product by paying a premium, however the heater makes clicking / popping noises that are so loud, it is impossible to use the unit as I had intended (in a bedroom). The noises - presumably the metal expanding and contracting - are so loud that… Read more
it is impossible to sleep with this unit in the same room - the noise wakes me just as well as an alarm clock does. The only time this unit does not makes these noises is when set to the lowest power setting - which won't provide sufficient heating in Winter.
Powefull, Efficient and no noise or dry air – This is the second Delonghi oil radiator i have purchased. The old one is around 7 years and still going strong. We use the timer so its nice and warm when we get home. Once up to heat the thermostat does a good job maintaining heat and surprised how long it stays off before needing to come on again.
The new smell disappeared after a couple of days use and i had the sliding door open a bit with half a bucket of water next to it during the new "Burn Off" period. Very important to turn both power setting and thermostat to max when doing this...
We use the older smaller one in the bathroom with the timer so nice and warm in the morning.
Best heaters for the money.
Terrible Warranty Service – We bought this heater less than a year ago, and it's meant to be DeLonghi's top of the range oil column heater at over $370. Not even 11 months into use, the heater smells like burning plastic. We've checked around the heater, the fins etc, and there's no sign of obstruction or anything touching the outside. girls room during these cold months, and now we have to leave the split air system running throughout the night.
Their service agents advised 5-10 days turn around time for a repair, with no courtesy heater or replacement given. For something less than a year old, and at this price point, I expected better. You have a few or two you could learn from your competitors (Electrolux, Miele, etc, who come out to service their small goods appliances).
Update: Delonghi has since replaced the heater but the smell still emits on the highest heat setting. Must be the type of oil they use possibly as it's purely a hot burning oil smell. Revised review to 3, as it was replaced but can only use up to the second level heat setting.
Not a bad heater. If you're after something that is not really expensive and keeps a large room warm I would recommend this DeLonghi. Show details
