We were sent the 2000W Charcoal Black panel heater to test out in late June 2025 as part of the Ambassador Program. We have used it in the nursery since receiving it until around November 2025, due to having one of the coldest winters on record and a newborn. Firstly, it is a lovely unit to look at with a fabric finish, slimline fit and was… Read more

packaged well. We have used the unit two ways, where we initially had it wall mounted and then decided that it wasn’t as effective as we would like so we then placed it on wheels to move around the room. Both ways of using the heater were easy to assemble and all parts were included. The machine itself is a quiet unit, and you can’t hear it working at all, which is a change from the noisier split system we have in the room. The beauty of this heater is that it holds its temperature and the room temperature especially when you are experiencing minus 7 outside. I needed a heater that wouldn’t go into defrost mode, dropping the room temperature and then blowing cold air. The downside to this unit is that it doesn’t blow the warm air at you, rather it blows it towards the ceiling, so if you have it located under a window or wall mounted you lose most of the warm air. It’s also not a heater you would sit in front of if trying to get instantly warm. In saying that, once you set a temperature the machine will maintain that temperature and cut out once the temperature is reached and then automatically kick back in once it drops, making it the perfect heater for a child’s room. The machine itself doesn’t get extremely hot like the old oil heaters, making it that little bit safter for little people. The display panel remains lit up, so if you don’t like light when you are sleeping you needed to cover it, as the digital display shines through the Perspex cover. The control panel however isn’t lit up making it extremely difficult to see and use when the room is dark. The sequence of buttons that need to be pressed to operate the heater and modify setting is also complicated when you are tired or busy. The open window function is right next to the menu button and if you accidently press the open window function, the heater will often switch off overnight, which isn’t ideal when you have a newborn sleeping in the room that you are trying to maintain a consistent heat for. The use of WiFi to control the heater via your smart phone and the app was easy to connect and use. I love the ability to turn the heater on before we get home or double check that it’s been turned off if we have left for the day. Overall, this heater looks great, works really well, and is easy to control via the app. I’d definitely recommend it to anyone looking for a bedroom or small space that requires a quiet, efficient heater with smart features.

Purchased 2 of these heaters in May 2025 with the intention of using them to supplement the use of a ducted gas system as a cost saving exercise. Our power bills (with solar fitted) almost doubled and, because of the poor heating provided by these heaters, there was no improvement in our gas account. Had a battery fitted to make better use of our… Read more

solar generation and tried the Ausclimate heaters again. Unsurprisingly, the negative effect on our power bills was reduced but the heating provided by the heaters remains very poor. We will probably keep one that's mounted in a hallway as it has some effect in that very limited area and is rarely used, but the unit mounted in our lounge will be finding a new home before next winter to be replaced by something with a fan to effectively distribute the heat. I will be doing a lot more homework before my next purchase.

These are my impressions of the Ausclimate EcoSmart Pro Panel Heater, after a few weeks of use. The last panel heater I owned was years ago - it was oil heated and didn’t do much at all, except use heaps of electricity and took forever to actually heat the room. This heater starts working fast and silently and brings the room temperature up… Read more

quickly. The mixture of convection with radiation is luxurious. I have been very pleasantly surprised with this unit. I am a fan of Ausclimate products – I have a dehumidifier and an air purifier in addition to this item and have been very happy with them. They are solidly made, look good, always seem to just be a bit more fully featured than competitor brands and integrate well into home networks. From the beginning, I like the packaging – it describes and promotes the features of the product well. There is a nice touch to the packaging in that it is fully recyclable, using moulded paper board, rather than polystyrene foam. The actual heater itself looks modern and simple. The instructions are brief, but they cover all you really need to know to get the heater working. From that point, it needs some self-discovery – I am a person who like to tinker and have learnt much of its capabilities through research. Honourable mentions to the “windows open” feature - this is smart, also timers etc. are really helpful if I forget to turn it off. I checked the ambient temperature on remote displays and it is accurate, giving me confidence in the control system. As others have mentioned, the control panel can be hard to read if the lighting is less than ideal. That said, I control the unit either via my phone through the Ausclimate app or Google Home (better than a remote control) or my Smart TV. You can even shout at it via Google Assistant. Connection to my house network was easy. My photo shows the control panel - it is nice and simple and modern. There are plenty of other photos of the actual unit in other reviews. I have used my heater mostly for a cold corner of my house with no air-conditioning (i.e. my man dungeon) and it has made this area far more useful.

In summary – a really impressive update of panel heaters. Up to Ausclimate's usual standard. 5 stars.

It is rare to find a product that perfectly balances form and function. The Ausclimate EcoSmart Pro Panel Heater, however, is one of those standout appliances. After a month of using, it during this chilly season in Victoria, I can confidently say it’s a sleek, aesthetically pleasing, and impressively powerful smart device that has fundamentally… Read more

changed how I use a part of my home.

First Impressions: Design and Aesthetics

The first thing, like any product, is the packaging. Unfortunately, I didn’t like the box it came in with. It felt like a cheap carton. I was surprised when I received the panel. I am not talking about the images or texts of the box (which I think it can also benefit for some minor improvements), but the carton material just felt cheap. I know what you’re thinking; I mentioned that it is a standout and aesthetically pleasing panel, and the panel really is.

But, straight out of the box, the EcoSmart Pro makes a statement with its minimalist design. It's slim, presents an elegant and clean design, that fabric mesh really adds to its beauty and premium feel, and it blends nicely in any modern home's decor. The finish is smooth and sophisticated, and it avoids the bulky, industrial look that plagues so many other portable heaters, case in point, Google the ones at Bunnings.

However, my praise for its beauty comes with a small caveat or three. While the main panel is beautiful with its bright digital display but the not so beautiful control buttons. Why? The touch buttons are drawn on a glossy finish, so if you want to use them, it is hard to see especially if there’s any direct light (see photo). For the elderly, or people with vision problems this may make it harder to operate the panel while using the controls. Personally, I have the lid closed, and just use the app to modify the settings, but perhaps the people at Ausclimate can reconsider the design of the controls and choose different colour.

In addition, the placement of the power cord could also be more elegant, I would think having the cord and the power button on the lower side of the panel easier and may avoid accidental burns. Finally, the feet, I also found them like cheap plastic, and personally don’t like them that much, they slightly detract from the otherwise flawless minimalist aesthetic. Whilst it doesn't impact functionality, but for those obsessed with beautiful design, it’s worth noting.

The Challenge: Conquering the Cold Study

To truly understand this heater's impact, you need to understand the problem it solved. My study has long been the coldest room in the house. Positioned next to a main corridor and featuring a large glass door that leads to the backyard. It completely lacks central heating vents.

Performance: Silent, Persistent Warmth

This is where the EcoSmart Pro truly shines. The unit's 2000W of power is so powerful. I was initially sceptical that this panel could tackle not just the study itself, but also the adjoining corridor it opens into. To my surprise, the heater radiates a consistent warmth that has completely neutralised the cold. It effortlessly raises the temperature of the entire area, and most crucially, keeps my study comfortably warm, the change was so significant.

Perhaps its most remarkable feature is its silence. The heater makes absolutely no noise. There are no whirring fans or clicking elements. For me, this is very important, for a space like a study, where concentration is key.

The on-device control panel and the companion app provide granular control over its operation. You can select from various modes like Comfort, Eco, and Anti-frost, and of course, setting the temperature and power output. I’ve found that even on the lowest power setting (Level 1) and a temperature set at 24C (yes, I get cold easily), the heater is more than sufficient.

The "Smart" in the name

As its name suggests, this is a smart heater. It connects to your WiFi, connect to the app for remote control features, as well as integrating it with Google Home and Amazon Alexa. So, if you leave the house forgetting to turn off the heater, you could do so with one click remotely.

The app is where the heater's full potential is realised. Beyond the basic controls, you can set detailed daily and weekly schedules. For instance, you can program it to start warming the study 30 minutes before you begin your workday and shut off automatically in the evening.

My experience with Google Home has been straightforward. While the integration is quite basic, you could use your voice to set a temperature or turn off the panel heater. You can also create a scene or integrate it with a routine of your convenience.

Final Verdict

The Ausclimate EcoSmart Pro Panel Heater is a win, more like a triumph even. It solved a persistent and frustrating problem in my home (which I have never solved until now), transforming a cold room into a warm workspace.

Its combination of heating power, silence, and genuinely useful smart features makes it a top-tier choice at the perfect price. While the aesthetics of its control panel could be slightly more refined and the power corde placed at a different location, they are minor “issues” for an appliance that gets everything else right.

If you have a stubborn cold spot in your home and value quiet operation, powerful performance, and modern convenience, I cannot recommend it highly enough. Oh, and let’s not forget the generous 7 years warrantee, that can get extended to 10.

I LOVED this heater. It chucks out a great amount of heat to heat a medium/large lounge room with no problem. Combined with the air purifier also in the room, the room heats quickly and nicely. It’s silent, which is both a pro (it is silent) and a con (you need something else in the room to aid air circulation). The quality of this machine is… Read more

amazing. It’s not going to break any time soon.

The materials of this machine feel premium and are what I would expect for the price range.

We have this set on wheels and wheel it into the middle of the room when using it, however can easily see how wall mounting it (with the wall mount and screws included) would be handy.

The screen on the heater gives you a lot of options, temperature settings, heat output settings, modes etc. I generally just leave it on auto and let it do its thang. I really like that there are 5 levels of heat output and auto automatically dials it up and down as the room temperature changes.

It is a very comprehensive screen, and once set, I can’t see the average person changing many of these settings, but it is good to have them there for customisability.

The only thing I don’t like about this heater is issing the Ausclimate app doesn’t give you access to voice controls or more advanced features like the Tuya app does. I no longer use the Ausclimate app, switching to the Tuya app so I can use Siri Shortcuts (not included with the Ausclimate app), so we can control the heater from HomePods.

Summary, we love it. Would purchase in a heartbeat. Considering purchasing another one (or few).

Super sexy and sleek heater. It heats up the space promptly (I have it in the lounge room and move to my bedroom as well). I live in the northern NSW and feel cold in the winter here, it gets down to about 10 degrees overnight at times. It is completely silent when on! This can be deceiving as it actually emits a lot of heat. Show details

This heater is amazing. It is eco friendly and heats up our living room really fast! We've had it running for a couple hours a day for the past week- and it's been amazing in this cold weather. Got the chance to review this heater and came away impressed. Firstly, let’s start what I didn’t like: - unpacking found the wall mount brackets are already in place and they were a bit fiddle to remove and in the process I knocked the control panel cover off. I was able to get it back on but feel it could have easily broke when doing so. - I… Read more

couldn’t get wifi connected as you need 2.4Ghz and my new modem only has dual 5G, this is more the modem’s issue than the heater as so many small appliances use 2.4 - our main room is 10x10m and 5m high ceilings, this was just too big a room for this little heater

Now to what I liked: - it’s a lovely looking heater and very small - it really pumps the heat out, kids loved getting dressed in the mornings in front of it. - kids lost out as I took it down to our open plan granny flat, around 60 square metres with 8ft ceilings. Here it is performing wonderfully and mum is happy she doesn’t have to use her reverse cycle unit any more as she hates how blowy it is. This unit is whisper quiet and heats this area perfectly.

So overall I really like this heater especially as it looks so good and functions well for its demure size.

We have been using the Panel Heater both upstairs in the bedroom and downstairs in the living area over early winter on chilly days and this is what we have found: - It is easy to put together. for the bedroom. On the other hand, because you don't hear it, it's easy to forget it's on. This happened one morning when we woke up to find the living area toasty warm as we'd left it on overnight! Interestingly there is a "Sound" setting on the app but even when turned on I couldn't hear anything... - The eco function is far too weak. Had this setting on in the bedroom and found I was still so cold. Had to set it to comfort to get the room properly warmed up. - The panel next to the digital display on the actual unit is extremely hard to see. You need to have a light shining right over it to read it which makes us question why even have this if it's so hard to see. I think this unit is meant to be remotely controlled on one's phone rather than by manually pressing buttons. On the app there is a "Light" setting however this just makes the digital display a bit brighter and doesn't illuminate the rest of the panel. - It can be connected to other devices like Alexa which is useful. We can ask Alexa to turn the panel heater on and off but found it could not do anything else like change the temperature or the power setting. This had to be done via the app. - I like how there is no remote control and you just control the device via the phone. Remotes are just another item that can get easily lost/misplaced in the house. - Heater is not too heavy and can be easily moved from room to room. Our bedroom is upstairs and there were no issues taking it up and down the stairs as we alternated spaces where it was being used. - Like anything if you have the power setting on too low it takes ages to heat up the room. I tend to have it on max 5 setting to get the room warmed up before reducing the power. It doesn't take long before room feels warm. - There is a timer function so one can pre-heat a room like the bedroom before getting into bed. We mostly use it to warm the room to a comfortable temperature as we sleep then have a timer turn it off after an hour which has been useful. You could go further and even have a weekly program of heating but we didn't use it as the temperatures do vary day to day so can't always predict the temperatures will be the same every day. It may come in handy for those who have to get up early to work and want to have the room toasty when waking up. - Note that when first opening the app the panel heater comes on green automatically and normally takes a few seconds before turning grey, so normally I'm always wondering if I left the heater on accidentally. - Despite reading the manual I am still confused about all the options of Comfort vs Eco vs Antifrost. Living in Sydney, we don't get frost in our area so doubt we will ever touch the Antifrost button but otherwise I don't understand what it means eg. to have Comfort on a setting or 10 or on 35. In the settings there is also an "Open Window" option which again I doubt we'll ever use, since when do you ever leave a window open when heating a room? There is also another "Heating mode" which can be on AUTO or the alternative showing 4 squares which I have no idea what it means. The manual is quite rudimentary and does not explain all these features so often we are just left wondering how to make the most of all the available functions. - There is a child lock function on the app which is always handy when little curious kids are around.

Overall the unit is good but there could be better instructions on all the available features and how to use them. It would also have been better if Alexa could've been able to change the temperature or power setting. The feature I like most is the ability to silently warm up a room unlike other heaters though realistically only comfort mode was able to do this adequately.

Lastly I wish to acknowledge we were given this panel heater to test and give an honest review.

The reviews on this heater are generally very positive and I agree mostly with what others are saying, but I found some negative things. I can't be the only one who's come across the 'not so awesome' features. So firstly, after reading the manual I'm still not really sure what the point of Eco or Frost modes are, nor do I think I'll ever use… Read more

'Open Window' mode. It will stay in comfort mode (normal heating) every time I use it.

The plastic feet should have some sort of surface protection on them. They don't have a solid flat bottom and screech across our hard wood floors when moving it, even slightly. If it's been on, you don't want to pick it up to move it because the metal sides can get hot. The heater used to come with castors (according to the box & various online photos) which seems like a much better option. Not sure why they removed them. Another thing I also found a bit strange, was that if you put the feet on this heater and then decide to mount it on the wall at a later date, you have to find a tool to remove the one way screws. Strange to include anti-theft screws, apparently it's for safety but maybe a removal tool should have been included.

The power cord is probably a standard length but it's not very long so it has to sit fairly close to an outlet which means you're limited to where you can place it. I don't have power points in the exact right location to where I want the heater to operate so I need an extension lead. Not ideal.

Great LCD display but the menu buttons to the right of the display are extremely hard to see on the stone grey model (see photos). It seems the charcoal version has much better visuals. I did contact support via the app regarding the 'invisible' menu buttons but never received a response. I thought maybe it was meant to be backlit. I've come to the conclusion that it's just not a great design. The thermometer on this heater isn't accurate. It has a 3 degree discrepancy compared to two other thermometers I compared it to. Not a huge deal but you have to allow for it, that's why I've got it set at 24, I'm trying to get it to heat to 20-21.

In good news, it's extremely quiet. Heat rises from the top of the unit, not so much from the front grille (although that gets hot to touch). It's definitely nice to stand in front of the heater and feel the warmth radiate up. When you need warming up, this is perfect.

I was impressed that the heater is smart home enabled, via app and Alexa/Google especially since it's near impossible to see the controls on the heater itself. However, the app to control the heater is very basic and isn't user friendly or intuitive. The countdown timer works but the weekly scheduler does not. I have tried a lot of trouble shooting with the heater, my phone and our home network and it just doesn't work. Even if it did work, the ability to only schedule on the hour, eg 6-12 not 6.30-11.45 or anywhere inbetween is not convenient at all. The timer allows for any increment you like, so I'm not sure why the scheduler (if it worked) doesn't have the same option. I guess being able to turn it on and off and change the temperature without going to the heater itself is better than nothing.

I connected the heater to Alexa which was promising. Alexa could turn the heater off with voice control but couldn't turn it back on. It also failed to change the temperature and even though she confirmed my voice instructions, the heater did not respond.

So my overall opinion of this heater, is that it heats well, it looks smart (apart from the feet), it has a lot of promise to be a very capable smart appliance but it falls a little short. It's too early to tell if it's as energy efficient as claimed and I definitely wouldn't buy the stone grey model unless they fix the menu button problem. Considering it purely as a heater and nothing else, it is a great winter appliance.

A great heater with a modern appearance, portable or wall-mounted (your choice) with exceptional heat output via an app or manually controlled, and which has been approved as a 'Sensitive Choice' by the National Asthma Council Australia and carries the Blue Butterfly sticker. via 2.4ghz via your smart phone, too easy!

Warranty extension to 10 years (if registered online) is a welcome incentive for prospective purchasers, however the normal warranty period is 7 yrs, which is still great and indicates that AusClimate have faith in their product.

The heater is lightweight (5.36Kg as per website) if you need to carry it upstairs (for example), otherwise moving from room to room is easy and simple, thanks to the wheels.

When checking the website pre-delivery, it was noticed this heater didn't have wheels, but when removing it from the packaging, hey presto!...it did in fact have wheels, a pleasant surprise, and imho, necessary (unless you wall mount the heater) and speaking of wall mounting, a kit for this purpose is included along with simple instructions. The dimensions are 810mm(w) x 170mm(d) x 480mm(h) so it is quite compact and perfect for rooms up to 30m².

The owners manual appears to have been written for a different model, as some comments don't apply to this model heater, while others do. However, you can download it from the AusClimate website and keep an electronic copy on your device, saves having paper copies lying around.

Deducted one star because the touch control panel is not illuminated and there is no LED to indicate the heater is switched on, much easier if you use the app or have other lighting available. Only mentioned in case it might be a problem for some people in differing circumstances.

Overall though, this is a fantastic heater with great output, totally quiet and heats a large room quickly, have to say it's a winner in this house and would recommend it to anyone considering a new heater, you won't be disappointed.

With its slim profile, and elegant understated tones which should complement any décor, the Ausclimate ACPH910 EcoSmart Pro 2000-watt panel heater could just be your ideal companion, in any small to medium-sized room during chilly winter nights! What’s more, you could confidently stay tucked up in that cosy room for up to 10 years, thanks to… Read more

Ausclimate’s generous extended warranty offer.

UNBOXING AND SETTING UP

The first thing you’ll notice is that this heater is solidly built with a full metal body - no cheap plastic here, and this no doubt plays a role in that fabulous warranty.

Gaily ignoring the big red “Read Instructions First” sticker, I threw caution to the chilly winter wind and had it all unboxed, feet screwed on, and warming up the room within five minutes flat! And that’s the way it should be - easy.

Just as well, too, as those instructions are not really much help, and the icons depicting the touch controls are miniscule, making them hard to follow.

The instructions on downloading and installing the Ausclimate mobile app are easy enough to follow. But the QR code that’s printed in the instruction manual (to pair the heater to the app) did not work, resulting in the website message “The QR code campaign has been disable for some reason” - and the printed instructions for manual pairing mode appear to be for a different heater.

Nevertheless, I have enough experience with pairing smart devices to be able to work it out for myself – but if you don’t, you may need to hire a local teenager for the job :-)

USAGE

This is a ‘smart device’, and you’ll definitely need to use the Ausclimate app to make best use of it. And for voice control, you can also connect it to Google Home or Amazon Alexa, so you can say things like “Heater On”, “Set the heater to 23 degrees”, “Turn the heater off in 30 minutes”, etc.

The reason I say you’ll need to use the app or voice control is because the touch controls on the heater are pretty useless – at least on the grey version. It has a very bright, coloured LED screen, but that is informational only (current mode and temp setting). But the buttons are tiny, they are not tactile, they are not illuminated, and they are printed so faintly that you can barely see them even in bright light, let alone in the dim light of chilly winter nights.

I noticed from the pictures on the Ausclimate website at https://ausclimate.com.au/products/ecosmart-pro-2000w-panel-heater that this doesn’t appear to be an issue with the black version of this heater - so my advice would be to get the black one, not the grey one! See my pictures for comparison of my grey heater’s control panel compared side by side with the picture of the black one from the website.

EFFECTIVENESS

This 2000-watt model is advertised as being suitable for rooms of up to 30 square metres. I first tested it in my bedroom which is 16 square metres. Because it doesn't incorporate a fan, this is not a real fast heater. I could feel the room starting to get warmer within about 10 minutes, but if you really want the room to be warm before going to bed, stick it on half an hour before.

The second test was in an open plan living area of 37 square metres – which is considerably larger than the 30 square metres it’s advertised as being designed for. Unsurprisingly, it was totally ineffective – no stars lost for this though, of course. It was still really nice to stand close to, but no heat made it out into the room itself. However, I can’t help feeling that even a 30 square metre room (which is actually quite large) would be pushing the limits for this unit, and in my opinion this is due to its lack of an incorporated fan. Granted, not too many panel heaters incorporate a fan, but there are some which do. A small internal fan would really help to get the heat out into those bigger rooms – though it would add a moving part to the design, which would likely mean they’d no longer be able to offer that amazing warranty.

MODES, MODES and MORE MODES!

If you’re looking to understand what all its various modes and settings actually do, be prepared to spend some time experimenting, because the manual is vague and sparse – so... I’ve taken the time to decode all the various settings!

OPERATING MODES

"Comfort Mode" is your main heating mode. You set the desired room temperature (10–35°C), and the heater turns on/off to maintain that temperature. This is the only mode where you can directly select a temperature.

"Eco Mode" saves power by lowering the ’Comfort’ temperature by 3 to 7 degrees (which you can choose in the Ausclimate app). Useful for background warmth.

"Anti-Frost Mode" keeps the room from freezing, maintaining a very low temperature of between 3 to 7 degrees, which again you can set in the app. Useful for unoccupied areas or overnight use in garages, for example.

POWER MODES

"Custom" power mode means you can manually choose from 5 power levels using the arrow buttons or the Ausclimate app. These likely correspond to different wattage outputs (eg. 20% to 100%). Handy if you want to limit power use manually.

"Auto" power mode dynamically adjusts power usage based on the room temperature. The further the room is from your set Comfort temperature, the more power it uses. As it gets closer, it scales back. The manual calls this “inversely controlled”, which is meaningless without context – but it’s basically an efficient, automatic mode.

OPEN WINDOW DETECTION

This is a clever energy-saving feature that detects sudden temperature drops – like when some silly person opens a window!

If the room temp drops by 5°C or more in 10 minutes, the heater switches to Anti-Frost mode.

If it keeps dropping over the next 10–30 minutes, the unit shuts off completely.

If the room subsequently warms up by 2°C, it resumes your previous heating mode.

A good feature in theory, but not well explained in the manual.

COMPREHENSIVE TIMERS

The heater really shines here, as it has extremely comprehensive timer controls – both basic and advanced – plus you also have some simple voice-control timer options as well.

Basic timer control comprises a simple countdown timer before the heater will shut down. You can set this on the heater itself or via the app – but for some reason you cannot use this to turn the heater on – only for turning it off.

You can, however, use Google/Alexa voice control to turn the heater on or off, eg. “Hey Google, turn the heater on in 30 minutes.” I really love this, as it’s so much easier!

Plus, you also have the option of a full weekly scheduler function, only available via the app. I’m not sure why one would need this, but just in case you do, it’s possible to set individual temperatures for every hour of every day – that’s 168 individual timer & heat settings! And what’s more, the interface to do this in the app is amazingly simple and nicely colour-coded.

OKAY, SO WHAT ARE THE MAIN 'PROS'?

Quiet and effective heating, at least in small to medium sized rooms.

Love having a smart heater that can be controlled by voice command! (Although bear in mind, I found that voice control only provides rudimentary control – on, off, temperature, basic timer – it was unreliable for more complex things like changing modes).

Amazing 7-year warranty, extendable to 10 years by online registration.

Amazing timer functionality.

Sleek, modern appearance.

Flexible wall-mount or freestanding use.

Good range of power options (though poorly explained in manual).

Open Window feature is a thoughtful touch.

AND THE 'CONS'?

In my opinion (and not everyone will agree) the biggest con is the lack of small a fan, which I believe would aid dispersal of the heat much more quickly, especially in large rooms. As it is, it’s totally reliant on convection. Of course a fan is a moving part, which is then subject to wear & tear – and Ausclimate is no doubt able to offer such an impressive warranty because there are no moving parts to wear out.

Unergonomic control panel - at least on the grey model, though not on the black model (see my comparison photos). This may not be an issue for you if you are happy to use the app instead.

No handles, so a little tricky to move from room to room when hot – it can be done – just very carefully.

Manual is poorly written and lacks clear explanations.

CONCLUSIONS

Overall, a good-quality panel heater that works well once you figure it out. But Ausclimate really needs to improve the manual – it's written for boffins who already understand the features, rather than regular users who don’t want to spend time figuring out how their heater works.

I love it, but it’s a case of horses for courses with heaters: if your prime consideration is sheer heating capacity (or bang for your buck) then without a fan, this may not be the heater for you, as any cheap fan heater would heat up a room more quickly.

But what it lacks in punch, it gains in other areas: with control via both app and voice, I love not having to get up off the couch to turn it on & off, up & down, etc. It’s undeniably stylish. And it comes with up to ten times the warranty you’ll get with that cheap fan heater!

First of all, it’s a great looking heater and matches my decor perfectly. Radiates lovely heat from it and warms my bedroom beautifully it even suits my open plan lounge room where I can feel the warmth while watching Tv. Lots of instructions just to set it up manually as I do not have 5 G internet in my town, I’m guessing if I did have 5G the… Read more

heater would be easier to set up ? But I’m finding when you change your mode and temp etc you have to keep going back to comfort mode plus if I have eco mode going at 21 Celsius and I push the arrow to increase the temp it takes me straight back to comfort mode and you have to increase the temp in comfort mode to increase it in eco mode, rather annoying.

I set the timer for 1.5 hours to turn the heater off and 3 hours later the timer icon had disappeared but heater was still going it never turned off when it should have, that’s not a safety feature if it doesn’t work as it should. I got no error messages so it appears to be set up correctly however timer turning heater off, not working as it should.

I had my heater on comfort mode last night set at 24 Celsius, I turned it off manually and when I turned it on this morning it went straight to Eco mode 21 degrees, I thought it would come back on at the settings I had from last night. It’s a lot of rigmarole in setting the date and time and year ( manually) etc.

The placement of the control panel is ridiculous, for those who set up manually be prepared to get a hot arm and hand as the heat rises because you have to have your arm and hand over the heat outlet to change functions, but changing functions from behind the heater works but it’s all upside down and doesn’t work if it’s attached to the wall because you can’t stand behind it, not an issue if you can do it all from your phone, like I said, no 5G in my town.

The heater does not glow so you only know it’s working if you wait to feel the heat rising but the panel is lit up, but you have to get up to see the panel because it’s at the back.

The screws to attach the feet are unusual they are not Philips head screws nor do they look like your normal screws, my screwdriver kept slipping out of the screw head because it wasnt normal shape head, and I have put many flat packs and used drills and screwdrivers aplenty for jobs around the house and I know what I’m doing but these screws I’ve never seen a screw head shaped like these before, once the feet were on it’s very stable and very easy to carry between rooms as it’s super lightweight.

Final conclusion, this heater is great for heating a room so 4 stars. I do think technology is warranted in the 21st century but I don’t think every appliance needs to keep up with it, maybe some functions only actually work if it’s connected to 5G but. I thought the timer to turn off the heater would work regardless.

Context: Family of 4, we live in a spacious brick-vaneer home, tiled flooring with 2.7m high ceilings, so it gets quite cold at night. We wanted something that looked minimalistic, and was reliable, safe for young kids and easy-to-use to keep us cosy this winter. Here's the breakdown after 7 consecutive days of use: ⭐️Pros Quick Warm-Up – You’ll… Read more

start feeling the heat within 20 seconds. Great for those cold morning starts or after-school warm-ups.

Stylish Design – Minimalist and modern, it blends well with our scandi décor.

Room-Ready – It warms a standard bedroom (around 3x4m) in about 10 minutes, making it ideal for bedtime routines.

Lightweight – Easy to move from room to room, especially across hard floors.

Stable Build – It feels solid and not at all wobbly. Quite impressed.

Smartphone Enabled – You can control it from your phone (although we didn’t test this- honestly, we prefer using the controls directly on the unit).

Child Lock – There's a safety lock mode —very helpful if your kids have curious fingers.

Timer Function – Super handy for busy families: set it for a number of hours and minutes, and it’ll turn off on its own. Works well and never failed. Great peace of mind when juggling bedtime and everything else.

---

Cons

Hot to touch – The metal parts get hot, so don’t move it around once it’s on. You can move it by holding the sides, but a little kid might not know this. Best to set it up where you want it before turning it on.

Touch Buttons – The flat control panel isn’t super responsive, but it does beep so you know it's registering.

No Button Backlight – At night, the buttons are hard to see, so you'll probably need to flick a light on to adjust settings.

---

Conclusion: This heater strikes a great balance between design, performance, and family safety. It’s not perfect (what is?), but for a family home, it's a solid and stylish choice—especially if you’re after something fast-acting and fuss-free. Just set it, forget it, and enjoy the toasty warmth.

I’ve been using the Ausclimate EcoSmart Pro Large 2000W Panel Heater in Charcoal Black for a little while now, and I’m really happy with it. First off, it looks great — the charcoal black finish is sleek and modern, and it fits in well with my living room without standing out in a bad way. It’s definitely one of the nicer-looking heaters I’ve had.… Read more

What I love most is how quiet it is. Some heaters can be really noisy, but this one makes no sound at all. It’s perfect for running in the bedroom or while I’m working because it doesn’t distract or annoy me.

The heat output is really good too — it warms up my bigger room quickly and keeps it nice and comfortable. I don’t have to keep fiddling with it to get the temperature right, which is a relief.

The best part, though, has to be the smart phone control. Being able to turn it on or off and adjust the heat from my phone is super convenient. I can warm the room before I get home or switch it off if I forget to when I leave. It just makes everything easier and helps save energy.

Overall, this heater looks great, works really well, and is easy to control. I’d definitely recommend it to anyone looking for a quiet, efficient heater with some smart features

As a free standing unit, there are no special tools required to install the two feet that come with the heater. All you need is your index finger and your thumb and the job’s done in seconds. The instruction book can be a little daunting, but, all in all, operating the settings on the unit (temperature, timer, etc.,) is relatively easy once you get to work with it. The display screen is nice and bright, but in a dimly lit room, the touch points to operate the settings can be hard to make out clearly. The unit also has a downloadable app which allows you to use feature remotely but this will only operate on 2.4GHz Wi-Fi channels but will not work on 5Ghz internet connections.

WALL INSTALLATION The heater can be used as a stand-alone floor unit or it can be wall fixed, using the special wall bracket attached to the rear of the unit. There are screws supplied with the unit, but for anyone needing to fasten the heater to a Gyprock (plasterboard) wall, where there are no studs behind the installation point, a simple quick fix can be done by using ‘WallMates’. On a vertical wall fixture ‘WallMates’ can hold up to 10kgs.

Removing the heater from the wall bracket is relatively easy, as is the installation of the wall bracket itself. Once you’ve pencilled in your level line on the wall and screwed the bracket in place, it’s just a matter of clipping the heater onto the bracket, which is held in place by 4 anchorage points. Should you wish to swap out wall to floor or vice-versa, there is no need to remove the bracket from the rear of the unit. The wall bracket is designed to slide down onto the four screws that are on the wall with no fuss at all.

All in all, I like the ease of using the unit. Those who are technology forward will have fun using the app but it’s not a necessity to use the unit itself.

very premium.

So then i was like “Ok, so it's pretty, what else for that cost?”. Well, It I set up the feet so I could use it as a free-standing appliance, powered it on, set it on 24C, and let it do its thing. Within 20 minutes, the dining room in my house was so warm and inviting. It wasn't a harsh warmth either; it was like a soft glowing warmth, more natural than most. I monitored how much power it was using and enjoyed that it would cut its power use down as it maintained power. Although I wouldn't call it an “inverter,” I'll let that slide.

The app is pretty easy to use and the Wi-Fi setup was easy as. Much easier than the Carrier split system I have in the living room. There is heaps of functions in the app, the colour control panel is a really welcome addition too. I have had issues setting it up with Alexa, but I have had it working were the Carrier split wont work with it at all unfortunately, so thats a plus for the Ausclimate heater.

I'm pretty impressed with it. I think I am going to have it wall-mounted, to be honest.

We got the black/grey one from Hardly Normal and used it through winter. We were sent the Stone Grey panel heater to test out in late May 2025 as part of the Ambassador Program, and we've been using it regularly for almost 4 weeks now. It helps that it's been a cold winter, so it's had plenty of testing! First up, I have to say, it's quite nice to look at. And it's easy to move on the wheels, too: very smooth, on… Read more

either carpet or hard floors. The fabric finish is quite a good look, and this makes it easy to move around when warm, too. You just hold the sides with the fabric and push it along, no problems. No burned hands! It was packaged well; I can't fault that. However, the dark, see-through flip-top cover on the control panel just would NOT go on! Somehow it came off as we were attaching the wheels to the machine when we had it upside down to do this. Hubby had to snip a bit of the plastic arm off the cover so it would go in without the whole plastic cover snapping in half! Anyway, after we did that, it's been fine. Ausclimate would do well to either trim those long plastic arms for the cover, or have it connected another way so it can go back on if it comes off. Anyway, that glitch aside, does it work? YES, it does, and beautifully. It heats up our kids' large lounge room very nicely, keeping the guinea pigs at a comfortable temperature as well! The floor area is almost 30 square metres, and the room has high ceilings, and it warms the whole area very well, even with bedroom doors open nearby. You can feel the warmth walking down the hallway before you even get there, so it definitely works well. It's a QUIET unit. I love that! The old RCAC unit we have in that room is so noisy, so it's been a blessing to have this super quiet convection heater. My kids love this heater, including holding their clothes nearby so they can warm them up before putting them on! I make sure they do NOT drape them over the heater! They also like that it's a lightweight heater on wheels, and they can move it around the room easily if they need to change its position. We did not wall mount the heater as it wasn't suitable for our needs - but it's good that it has that option. Hubby previously had a wall-mounted heater in his office a number a of years ago and quite liked that. Normally, we have the heater set to 24 degrees, then at some point in the evening, we switch it off at the wall. When it gets switched on at the wall again in the morning, it comes on at 24 degrees again. Super easy! No other buttons required. I would consider giving this panel heater 5 stars - except the touch panel is horrible to use: - you can barely see the panel to press the right buttons (backlighting is appalling) - it's complicated to remember all the right buttons in what order, especially when you're tired or busy We have tried the timer, and it works, and we've set different functions on it, and they work, too, but for our day to day use, switching it on and off at the powerpoint work the best for us. We honestly like really simple heaters! For people who enjoy appliances with all the mod-cons, then this heater could be a bit of fun, but for us, we just found it frustrating, mainly because the touch panel was so difficult to see! The mechanical on/off power switch on the side is useful. It's covered in plastic for extra safety, but it doesn't get hot, and we don't use it much, anyway. We even tried using the panel heater in our huge lounge area (70 sqm) in place of our large RCAC unit - and it made a positive difference! So for a product that's not intended for a room that size, it certainly packs a punch But I think it works best in a smaller room. I'd say it could comfortably work in a room up to 40 sqm. Overall, it's a lovely unit. It heats up quietly, evenly, and quickly. It's easy enough to use, it looks nice - and about the only drawback is the control panel. If Ausclimate could make that one a lot easier to see, and use, then this could be a 5-star panel heater!

We received this unit as part of the Ambassador reviews program. We received both this unit and the Ausclimate SmartEnclosure Medium 7 Fin 1500W Oil Filled Heater, and (comparatively) we found that this unit heated quicker, and is a neater, better-looking unit. The panel heater offers a greater range of settings and a more flexible app - see… Read more

further details below.

This is a nicely made, aesthetically pleasing unit. The colour and design allow it to be completely unobtrusive in the space. The quality of the wheels are a bit cheap. They assembled easily. A little concerned about the quality of the plastic – if it would stand up to long term use over several years.

Be mindful of the instructions – they guide you to use ridiculous one-way screws to assemble it (which means you’re stuck with the wheels if you install them as instructed). There are other (not 'one-way') screws in the box that are appropriate to use for this purpose. The unit can also be mounted on the wall.

The instruction manual is very helpful – it even contains a well designed flow-chart to help you navigate the settings on the display panel. The control panel is extremely user friendly too – I found it quite intuitive to use. Even when I was syncing the heater with my device, I found it simple to discover the correct menu without reading the instruction manual.

We use this panel heater in a large sized bedroom in an older, raised timber home in the Mid-North Coast region. It’s been such a God-send over the past few weeks with the sudden chill we’ve been experiencing, so this unit has definitely had its work cut out for it! It copes extremely well, and maintains a very comfortable level of warmth. It definitely works better in a closed room. We did trial it briefly in our open plan living/kitchen/dining (as a test) and it did not cope and made no real difference to the ambient temperature.

It is a completely silent unit - you literally do not hear it running at all.

Whilst we are not massive fans of ‘smart’ technologies, we found the app easy to install, easy to sync with the unit and very easy to control from our mobile phone. I found it particularly handy to be able to monitor my son’s use of the heater in his room – he has a penchant for raising the heat to sub-tropical climes and walking around bare-chested.

The settings are different from other, older panel heaters we have owned, and we're quite impressed with the range and flexibility.

There are 3 settings: 1. You can set the temperature or ‘Comfort’. This ranges from 10 to 35 degrees Celcius. 2. There is also an ‘Eco’ setting – a deviation range from Comfort from 3 to 7 degrees. 3. The ‘Anti Frost’ setting – again ranging from 3 to 7 degrees.

** To be honest, I'm still quite confused about what the Eco or Anti-Frost modes do with this unit - for comparison though, with the AusClimate Oil Heater, the Frost mode is designed to keep the heat at 7 degrees. Perhaps the Eco mode is designed to keep the heat within 3-7 degrees of the ambient temperature?

There is the option for setting timers, and even setting weekly plans for said timers as well. Simply pre-program your date and time into the settings – this can be done via the control panel or via the app. You can then create your own customised timers and weekly programs.

You can even tap a setting called ‘Open Window’ – when this is active, if the temperature drops by 5 degrees or more within a 10 minute period, anti-frost mode is switched on. If in the time interval 10-30 mins the temperature continues to drop, the device will turn off. If the room temp rises by 2 degrees it will turn the unit back on. Ingenious!

There is also a child lock function – something I would have found incredibly useful when my children were small – this can even be done through the app.

* Small Con when using - I had to run it outside initially, to burn off the 'plastic' smell, but this did not persevere for long.

It is intelligently designed, functional and we really quite like it.

than typical heaters. It comes with wall brackets and castor wheels, giving flexible wall-mount or freestanding use .

4. Quiet convection operation As a convection heater with no fan, it provides near-silent warmth—perfect for bedrooms or study spaces

Cons:

1. Higher upfront cost At around AUD $320–$370, it’s significantly more expensive than basic 1500 W heatersz

2. Smart features complexity The Wi‑Fi/app integration is beneficial but adds complexity. Users uncomfortable with app setup or smart-home tech may prefer a simpler model.

3. Wall-mounting requires effort Although brackets are provided, wall installation demands DIY skills. Freestanding use is more convenient for renters or non-tool-savvy users.

⚖️ Verdict

This heater is a premium, feature-rich option that offers fast, efficient, and quiet heating wrapped in a stylish finish. We’ve loved using this to heat up the room in the recent colder days in Sydney. It’s extremely quiet and aesthetically nice. It’s ideal for anyone who values smart-home integration, aesthetic design, and long-term reliability.

We had the opportunity to test the Ausclimate EcoSmart Pro Medium 2000W Panel Heater Upon receiving the instructions were not clear on how to mount the wheels which was our preferred option, though it also mounts on the wall. sq metres, the unit was completely ineffective in heating up the room, in fact it was a complete fail and you could barely feel any heat at all, even if sitting about a metre away from the unit as air is aimed up and not outward so do not expect to sit in front of the heater and cherish instant and constant heat as in typical bar heaters do. It takes several hours just to try and feel any heat at all. We tried other large rooms in the house and still found the unit completely ineffective. This is despite the fact that the unit claims to have a “hedgehog heating element to provide faster and more even heat distribution which we never experienced and compares last with either a heater element heater or gas flame heater first because you instantly feel the heat, air conditioning 2nd as it warms the air very quickly, and this heater panel unit last in heat effectiveness as it takes hours to warm up at room if at all. I put this down to two factors: 1. We have an insulated double brick house with tiled floors and high ceiling (2.3m) which itself is fantastic in the summer yet very cold in the winter, and we do use 3 Ausclimate dehumidifiers in our home running on automatic all year to extract the moisture in our home – anywhere from 10 to 25 litres a day and we have no mould issues at all.

2. in my honest clear opinion, unless the room is a fully enclosed room with no outlets such as side doors or open arches, the heater is not strong enough to heat up any of our rooms, yet still takes hours to feel any warmth at all in a large enclosed room of 25 square metres.

At last attempt, we put this on our daughters flat at the back of our house which is a fully enclosed 25 metre rectangular room with sliding door entry at each end thus once inside the room, its fully enclosed. This scenario was of somewhat success, but still takes hours to heat up the room, thus its not a heater you can walk up to and turn on and expect to feel warm in front of. Our daughter likes how she can put the timer on with her phone and have the unit turn a few hours before she wakes up to take some chill out of the air. If you don’t want to use the app, the unit has a simple 24 hour manual timer.

It certainly quiet, not making any noise and the touch panel screen is good and easy to navigate with 5 different heat settings.

You can incorporate the app once downloaded to work over Wi-Fi with the heater with both the phone and heater needing to be on the same network. This was extremely frustrating to setup and took at least a dozen attempts to configure.

We can’t comment on whether the inverter energy technology reduces energy costs as its way too early to know.

Overall: Whilst it has good looks and easy controls, this panel heater is a big disappointment as one has to have a lot of patience in heating a large room as it states, yet takes hours to feel anything in our home and certainly not something you can cuddle up in front of and feel instant heat and hot heat. Maybe different in a much smaller room such as a bedroom, but certainly not for larger spaces.
