Philips Shaver Series 1000

(Updated) I returned this to the seller as it is not fit for purpose. I bought a Series 3000 to replace it and now I'm happy. I’ve been using the Philips 1000 series shaver for two months and here are my thoughts. Out of the box it feels much lighter than all other shavers I’ve used. There is no heft to it. This model is advertised as charging… Read more
from USB, which it does. However it uses a charging lead with a proprietary connector on one end and USB A on the other. Why not simply go with USB C? Perhaps Philips are worried about water ingress, although I only use shavers dry.
Charging is sloooow and once charged I only get three uses out of it, whereas with previous shavers I get seven to ten shaves. It seems the battery in this model is quite small which would explain the light weight.
The quality of the shave is similar to previous Philips shavers but the frequent charging is a drag. There is no pop up trimmer. There is no cleaning brush but I have plenty from my previous shavers. Philips say you can clean the heads with water but this is ineffective and would certainly shorten the life of the blades.
This is a very cheap shaver, but I don’t think it’s good value for money. I would recommend spending a bit more for a 3000 or 5000 series shaver for a better “user experience”.
Works well – Bought this on discount for AUD$48 at Shaver Shop - worked out to cost the same as a replacement set of blades. Cuts very well for my coarse beard (dry shave), doesn't struggle with neck/chin hairs like my previous 5000 Series (which cost 4 times as much). Trimmer blade is basic, but works fine. No cleaning brush supplied. I suggest bringing your… Read more · 1
own hard bristle flat paint brush, or similar. Blade cleaning is a faff compared to foil shavers (fiddly small parts). No case supplied. AC charger is proprietary (which sucks). Can't shave with it plugged in - only works off battery power. We'll have to see how long the NiMH battery lasts. If the shaver lasts 2 years I'm happy.

Worse shaver I have ever owned – Having owned a number of Philips electric/battery shavers over the last 35 years The latest model I purchased recently has got to be the worse ever!. I would have better luck shaving with a pedestal fan or electric toothbrush. Even after a full charge the motor sounds like it is running slower with each shave. Using the beard trimmer the motor… Read more
almost stops and barely trims my beard. There are not enough RPMs in the motor or the battery is too small. I know it was in the under $100 category but I would expect better from Philips who have been in the shaver market for decades. I've gone back to using my old blunt shaver. Maybe time to switch to another brand?

it does the job – I bought one, and charged it for 8 hours, I had a 3 day growth, it took just over 4 minutes, for a dry shave, and it did a good job, just as good as my last electric shaver, simon Show details · 1
Good shaver – This electric shaver gives a close shave. It is light and easy to use. It also has a pop-up trimmer. I would recommend this shaver. Show details · 1
Better than any dry shaver I have used in the past – This Philips AquaTouch was a very economical purchase. It cleans a week old beard quite well, and fast. Fits nicely in my travel bag, and the charger does a good job. Show details · 1

Very satisfied – After a full charge should be able to shave 10-13 times. It’s better than the shaver that I bought before, Relatively clean-shaven. Cleaning is also very convenient.--------------no more words except nice. Show reply
Closest shave – I had regularly been buying Remington shavers but the last one was terrible, it wouldn't cut close at all so I decided to try Philips this time. I'm glad I did because this shaver is the best I've had by means of the closest shave. It's very basic, good value and cuts extremely well. I can highly recommend this product. Show reply
