A very decent mid-range tablet – We bought this tablet as a replacement for a Galaxy Tab which had become unresponsive. The Telstra Shop had it on a good special and they were very helpful when we needed to set up a Telstra account to buy it. This tablet has an 11 inch screen, and rounded edges which make it comfortable to hold. The display is a beautiful looking 11 inch… Read more

over-FHD OLED screen. It has Android 13 out of the box and immediately updates to Android 14. Google promises five years of updates from its release in 2023. Being a Google device you will need an account to set it up.

There are four speakers which sound tinny, but more on that in a moment. There are two 8MP cameras which give good results but are nothing special. There is no external storage but I think 128GB should be enough for us. Sometimes the screen buttons do not respond to a touch and they need an extra tap. Perhaps this is because Google’s Tensor chip is more optimised for battery life than performance; but overall it has not been a problem.

What sets this device apart is the dock which comes with the tablet. It is a stylish tilted oval slab which comes with a proprietary wall charger and has a built-in speaker. The tablet attaches magnetically and communicates and charges through 4 copper pad contacts. When docked it can play music through the dock speaker which is a big improvement over the tablet’s own speakers. You can also stream music from other devices to it, but only when the tablet is docked.

You can set up slideshows of your own images while docked or use ones provided by Google. You have to wonder why more tablet manufacturers don’t do this. If you are going away and don’t want to take the dock, no worries, the tablet will charge through its USB C port.

We are very happy with this device as a medium-end Galaxy Tab replacement.
