Spectra S1 Hospital Grade Double Electric

Good quality pump. Default flange is large and difficult to wear with a pumping bra, but if you can work around this it is an excellent at home pump. Battery operated model is good if you are at risk of power outage or need to travel. Show details
DO NOT BUY!!!!!!!!!!! The flanges warp in the steriliser and the company refuse to replace. Wish I read the 1 star comments prior to purchasing as I can see many people have this issue. Horrible customer service! They will not reply to my messages or emails!! has been over 2 weeks. I will never buy from this company again.
If you’re after a headache, go ahead and buy from Spectra. Their customer service is shocking! Instead, choose a brand that actually cares about its customers. I've been dealing with [Name Removed]—the so-called "only Manager" in the company—for months, just to get a $375 pump fixed or replaced. It’s been an absolute nightmare: hundreds of… Read more
emails, endless requests for photos and videos, filling out warranty forms—only for her to forget about the case a month later and ask the same questions all over again.
Not only is [Name Removed] rude and impatient, but she also couldn’t care less about bad reviews. She’s bossy and makes it clear it’s her way or the highway.
Do yourself a favor—stay away from Spectra. They’re an online-only company with no local support, and dealing with them is more trouble than it’s worth. Choose a brand that actually values its customers.

Breastfeeding mum's best friend! – This pump saved me so much time, effort, and from getting constant bouts of mastitis. I used the tommee tippee brand single pump to start off but it became too time consuming and wasn't helping get my milk supply increased. I bought the spectra s1 pump second hand as we were a bit tight on cash with a newborn. IT WAS A LIFE SAVER! I bought all… Read more
new accessories from eBay and the spectra website ( for health reasons). Wasn't disappointed at the amount of options available and price range for them. The minute I put the pump to work it was instant relief. The option to use as a single or double pump is so brilliant if you're breast feeding from one breast and pumping for the other. I only got mastitis once whilst using this machine due to no fault but my own ( missed a pump session). It helped unlock my blocked ducts within 2x 30 minute sessions. Settings: The settings are honestly ground breaking compared to other pumps. The option for "let down mode" and to increase the suction really helps to personalise to each person's needs. Portability: Portability side of things have it's pros and cons just like any pump does. The s1 has a battery pack the charges inside which helped on those nights that baby wouldn't settle. It also comes with a handing night light so you can see around the house at midnight while trying not to wake anyone. It isn't the most compact device however it has a handle which made it that bit easier. Noise: The noise is a bit loud but that comes with the fact that it has such a strong suction. However i did most my pumping at night so it was loud for me. Purchasing or DIYing a pumping bra for this pump is a must if you like to keep busy. If you're wanting to increase your milk supply then this is the pump to get. I went from 200mls a day to over 1litre a day. Just keep at it and stay determined. Cleaning is easy as everything is detachable and no moisture enters the main machine itself. Fill the sink with boiling water and some Milton baby bottle cleaner and you're good to go! Also a good little trick is to get a straw cleaner for those tubes.
All in all this was the best baby purchase i have ever brought. I have passed it on to another mumma in hopes that she can get the same satisfaction from it. There's lots of videos and tutorials on how to use it if you get stuck also.
Thanks for reading my review and enjoy!

Sucks great! – I used Medela when I had my first 3 babies then 9 years later for our last bub I bought the spectra S1 plus double pump. Loooooved it. I don't get the negative reviews but I've also not had any issues with it. I did have to replace the tubing and duckbills during it but easy peasy. I used my pump exclusively for 8 months and it was Amazing.… Read more
Really worthy investment... highly recommend
Pros Quiet The light Good suction Doesn't hurt as lots of setting options The timer so you know how long you've gone for Easy to move it around the house (no problems) Easier to clean compared to other pumps Cons I found the parts needed replacing more regularly than I had to replace for my Medela
Quiet and comfortable, amazing for early breast feeding days – I love my spectra s1, battery lasts a long time, it has a handy light which has 2 brightness options and it is easy to assemble and keep clean. The pump is very comfortable and quiet. I can not recommend this enough! Show details
Portable and easy to use! – Got Spectra S1 breast pump second hand and It worked beautifully for my first baby. Portability was the key because I needed to pump at work and sometimes on the go in the car. The machine is bulky but I didn’t mind as it worked well, though I did find the suction was more powerful when I used it only as a single pump rather than a double pump.… Read more
Different settings of speed and suction as well as a “let down” mode was super handy as well. Really great product!

Flimsy Product – We purchased a Spectra S1 pump and one of the duck valves has developed a tear after one week of use. We have got in touch with customer support and they brushed it off stating 'Heya. torn valves are valves that have been damaged by handling - not fault... you should have spares to replace them in hand to avoid interruption to your routine... they… Read more
are very delicate. :(. .'. This is unacceptable to us, as we have been blamed for the tear after fairly delicate handling plus the response wasn't very well written and comes off as rude. We have been as careful as possible cleaning them and why should we have spares on hand? We previously used a Tommee Tippee pump with similar valves for a 2 years without incident and we thought we were upgrading to a superior product. Either this is a very bad design flaw or their quality control has slipped. Very poor.
Pump has motor issues – I bought my pump within 3 months of use l had issues with the motor. I requested a loan pump which worked well and l did not have to charge tge battery so often but when my oump returned from repairs the issues were worse and before l knew it l was out of warranty.l contacted spectra to see if they could have another look at the motor l was then… Read more
advised l had to pay for the repairs and tge amount was equivalent to purchasing another breast pump. Am very disappointed with the product its not worth the money they charge.
Pump is great but the bottles and lids are horrible – I had my pump for around 8 months before deciding to purchase additional bottles and a new flange as I am pumping more than I used to. The new bottles do not seal at all. I contacted Spectra via their website with NO REPLY. It said to contact them on FB messenger if there is no response. I did this and they "read" my DM but ignored it. 2 weeks… Read more
later I sent another message. Again, they saw my message but chose to ignore it. So a few weeks later I sent another email. Finally I get a response, and the response is that I should try OTHER BRANDS BOTTLES. What kind of response is this?!?!?! The next response was that I should boil the bottles and that will fix the problem. So they clearly are aware there is a fault with their bottles if you have to boil them to "put them back into shape". I did that but still, the caps do not screw onto the bottles. I just want my money back so I can I can buy bottles that are fit for purpose. $73 wasted. Oh and just so you know, the cheap plastic bottles don't even come with a teat! You have to buy that separately too!
My last email was nearly a month ago and they are back to ignoring me, I guess I'll have to go to the ACCC and Fair Trading to make a complaint.
I had recommended the pump to friends of mine but if you can't even store your expressed breastmilk in sealed bottles then they are unusable.
AVOID this company like the plague. They ignore their customers.

There are so many design faults with this flimsy pump, it is horrible and customer service terrible – The pump was defective and the customer service was horrible, I was asking for help and the assistance was abysmal I was given the runaround with a million different questions I had already answered. I had replaced the parts and changed flange sizes but still the pump doesn’t work properly. They said they wouldn’t accept the warranty claim at all… Read more

Terrible company – I am extremely disappointed with Spectra and with the 'customer service' I have experienced. As a first time mum, it can be very overwhelming so much to learn, lack of sleep and heightened emotions- and Spectra have only added to this! I brought a spectra S1 pump which as a standard comes with 24mm shields. I was having so much trouble pumping-… Read more
not much milk and it was hurting. I thought this was normal as I didn't know any different. I was not aware there was different size shields and it is not obvious when buying a spectra pump. I recently was pumping in front of a friend who informed me that the shields were too big. So I went on the spectra website and clicked the link to the pumpables measuring tool which states the most common size is 17mm yet the standard spectra send is 24 mm...very illogical.
Clearly upset by this, I emailed spectra to understand why. I dealt with [Name Removed], who was incredibly rude and had zero empathy for my experience. [Name Removed] basically said they are just the distributor and have past the feedback onto spectra but they aren't listening and I'd have to buy the smaller size shields.
It is completely irresponsible that Spectra send out as a standard a very large flange size as they are literally damaging peoples bodies, impacting babies from getting breastmilk (as I'm sure other mothers would stop because of it) and impacting on new mothers mental health. There should be an option to select shield sizes (or at the very least information) when buying a pump.
Spectra this is not good enough! Do something about it!

Great pump! Crappy customer service! – This is the THIRD spectra pump I’ve bought in the last 6 years. First was an s2 that served me well and didn’t miss a beat over 2 babies, second was an s9 I bought as a portable option, and leaving me with my current s1 that I purchased last year in anticipation for my new baby who was born in November 2021. I have always been extremely happy with… Read more
spectra as a whole but my experience today has completely stained my opinion of them. Purchased the pump on sale, knew the pump had a 2 year warranty, was prepared to forgo 6 months of it because I would probably use it a year and a half anyway before stopping breastfeeding. I didn’t expect to have any problems with it because I’ve used this pump before and was really happy with it. So it sat in a box in the nursery until our daughter was born in November. It wasn’t used until December. Last night my battery goes flat so I pull out the a/c charger and it won’t charge. Ac adapter no longer works. I email spectra to find out apparently the adapter only has 6 months warranty (??? News to me because this is Not on website???) and they won’t replace it under warranty. They also have no stock. I now have a pump I can’t use, cannot get a replacement adapter anywhere within a 15km radius and have a baby who hates the car and sore lumpy boobs I can’t pump. Now have mastitis, and need to buy another pump to use today. So disappointing after 6 years of loyal service, this has completely rubbed me the wrong way. Have contacted consumer affairs because this is crappy and wrong.

I ended up having to buy another brand breast pump I got so fed up – Great pump! Not great with the portability. And so incredibly awful when it comes to screwing the bottles onto the flanges or the lids onto the bottles. Any jostling of the bottles in a bag, and the lids come off and leak all over everything… If you’re moving such as typing while pumping, the jostling of your arms will loosen the bottles from… Read more
the flanges and they will fall right to the floor. It got to the point that I just bought a new pump because you just can’t screw these on tight to where they won’t leak or fall off the flange while pumping..
Refuses to replace broken parts – I am a full-time breastfeeding mother & have used a pump since 3 months pp. I decided to buy Spectra S1 a few weeks ago based on mother's group recommendation & now regret my choice & judging by the other poor reviews I see now I'm not alone in this. I initially struggled to get good suction but after I fashioned a pump bra out of an old nursing… Read more
bra it's much better but the flange attachments are so bulky after only a few weeks that's already stretched out. After only a few weeks of receiving this & using it a handful of times (as I rarely pump) the backflow protector nozzle that goes into the tube has snapped clean off. I put in a warranty claim & was immediately declined as it's "accidental breakage & this part needs to be replaced every 4-6 months." I haven't even had the pump for 6 weeks & they think I should already expect to buy new parts? Australian law stipulates that products must be fit for purpose & I think any reasonable person would find it unreasonable to be expected to replace parts on a very expensive product less than 6 weeks after receiving it. This could have been a great customer service experience where they apologise & send a new part which, let's face it, probably cost them pennies, but instead they have a very upset mum, a terrible customer experience & a poor review. Shame on you Spectra.

Pros: - battery option (don't mistake this at meaning it's portable) - pumps milk... once you've spent more money at external companies to purchase the right size flange
Cons: – Huge! Not portable at all like other companies - Their website (obviously made in Korea or overseas not Australia says 3 different things for weight on the specs sheet, one says 1 kg and below it states weight twice at 2kg - the website has many errors – Not hands-free. You have to buy a pumping bra which is hard because the flanges are so big, I’ve found only the Medela Bustier works to actually keep them on to be hands free – short tubes so have to have it right next to you so you have to be sitting down – Comes with a 24mm shield size so you have to buy different sizes it can wreck your nipples if it’s the wrong size so you have to spend at least an extra $50 from external companies to get a correct size – The information on this website is ‘outdated’ and for some reason they don’t update it even though they know it’s incorrect – Have to replace the tubing often when it comes loose – Made in Korea - Apparently aren’t even registered for GST so not even sure if the company is in Aus or not, i think they only have a support team here. – Have to Figure out the weird settings which they could improve for easier usage - Apparently battery life depletes quickly – If you try it you can’t return it so you won’t know if it works well for you.
Frustrating flaw enough to downgrade an otherwise great pump – The pros: portable (battery option), good suction with different cycle and vacuum options, comfortable to use, effective, nice display features. Cons: The design of the circuit is frustrating- several times one of the pumps does not form enough of a vacuum and even after dismantling both the bottles, duckbills and discs and reassembling them in… Read more
the order suggested by the manufacturer, sometimes I am still forced to pump one breast at a time (even using brand new parts). Not something you want to deal with when you are in a hurry or sleepy from waking up for a middle of the night pump. Replacement parts are pricey and it is suggested that these parts be replaced after around 3-6 months, which seems pretty short term given many women pump for months after.
Good product but could be better for the upgrade price.
Worst customers service and don't buy their product they are scammers – worst customer service ever , they play blaming game , they blame you for the low suction or say may be your body is changing or something is wrong with hormones but pump can't loose suction what kind of customer service is this. Do Don't buy from them they are scammers.. I would not recommend the product to anybody .

Abysmal customer service if something goes wrong – I found the components of the pumping bottle to be poorly designed. would not recommend buying this product unless you’re happy to continually replace parts. Maymom on Amazon sells them if you don't want to give more money to Spectra. If I were to buy a new breast pump, I’d go the Ameda Mya hospital grade pump. Same features, $79 cheaper with more accessories included and much lighter. At the time of this review, Spectra have not tried to resolve the issue, nor have they allowed my review on their website. They also removed my comments from their Facebook post.
Terrible customer service – Initially this pump was perfect. After a week of using it I decided to order another tube as I damaged one. Absolutely terrible customer service. I gave 2 stars instead of 1 purely because the pump was very good to start off with.
Battery issues, refused manufacturers warranty – After 2 months, battery dropped less than half of its original life. Contact support. After messaging them several times because they were reading my messages but ignoring, they blocked me and now I have no way of contacting them! They are a disgusting company...
Do not make the same mistake I did. They are a money hungry business who do not care about their customers. The moment you have an issue with your pump they will dismiss it and then eventually block you, all you have to do is read the other hundred reviews that are stating the same thing. Their reviews on their website are fake. Do not trust this company they will rip you off.
They claim the pump comes with warranty but that is a lie.
Unfortunately, I learnt the hard way and have been blocked. This company isn't even registered for GST! They are dodgy.
Fair trading NSW will be contacted tomorrow and I will not hesitate to fill a court claim. Good luck to them.. They're going to need it. I wont stop until I get what I deserve.

empathetic to the fact I exclusively pump to feed my daughter and was very upset as my supply dropped dramatically. Forced to give formula now
My milk never came back to its full capability that it was before my pump broke and now 2 months later, my pump is dead again. In my opinion i should either receive a brand new pump or a full refund of the receipt price. To have the same issue in 2 different pumps in only 3 months is shocking.
Perfect pump – I love my pump! It has a massage mode to trigger letdowns and a backflow protector to keep the milk and machine safe and clean. It is powerful. The only con to this pump is while it’s rechargeable, it’s not super portable. It’s quite bulky to carry around. But I’m still very happy with my purchase. Show details

milk for our child very often, so we eventually gave up using it because it just took forever waiting the milk. We had never tried to carry it elsewhere because we did not use it frequently after a couple of weeks, but I'd image it would not be difficult to carry it around. Overall speaking, the breast bump does produce some milk but the amount of milk you get also entirely depends on yourself, if you do have enough milk, then you will get a good result.
Best pump! – Hospital grade and closed system Has built in battery Excellent suction Has kept my supply great Double pumping makes it so much quicker Can review how many hours you’ve already pumped from day 1. Many options for pumping cycle and suction preferences. Show details
Best breast pump ! – Was recommended the spectra 1 by another mum. Love how I can transport it around the house without being bound to a PowerPoint, Ease of use , that is is hospital grade so I can sell it after I'm done with it, and how much Milk I can get out of it. The best breast pump – I brought the S1 to the hospital with me when I had my second baby and it was even better than the hospital grade pumps there! and the parts are easy to clean. And the shipping and support is SO FAST! I ordered new breast shields to get a better fit and they came the next day. I cannot recommend Spectra highly enough. It is less expensive than other brands and yet the product is far superior. Also, my toddler loves playing with the light on it! Haha!
Efficient double pump – Fantastic efficient pump. Relatively quiet compared to others. Can be portable unlike the S2 and allows for double pumping. Only negative is that pump itself is a little bulky, but makes up for this by the superior pumping. Lots of different settings ensures comfort. Show details

Excellent! – Excellent range of settings, fantastic quality pump and the battery life is fantastic. I pump while at work and can easily get 2 weeks (if not longer) without having to charge the battery. It's comfortable and for a hospital grade pump is not hard to carry around. The pump itself is very quiet, the only thing I wish was that Spectra sold more flange size options directly (I use the pumpables parts and they work great). Show details
