Does it have capability to receive bluetooth video programming
Hi robert, afraid not. No bluetooth on this 'device'.
"intentionally place bugs in the software updates to force people to update TVs or do not test your firmware properly before unleashing it on your customers", it is a very good question need Sony to answer. I got same Sony KDL50W800C TV and now, facing the exactly same problem after firmware automatically update. I strongly doubt why Sony refuses to provide essential means to allow end users to restore firmware back to the original status?! Sony provide update firmware on their official web for Sony's products, but there is no remedy to deal with the problem produced by it, what the firmware update for?
Hi mate, we bought the same TV about 5 years ago and since day one we had nothing but issues, the operating system is stuffed. Contacted SONY that was a waste of time.Got it fixed under jb hi fi warranty and now we are looking to replace it as the issue got worse and sometimes TV never turns on. Never ever I would buy a Sony TV again
Do you intentionally place bugs in the software updates to force people to update TVs or do not test your firmware properly before unleashing it on your customers? The reason I'm asking is that my TV came with buggy software from the factory and had a few of the issues mentioned above as well as constant reboots. After 3 trips from a serviceman which couldn't find anything wrong with it, at least not as far as the hardware went, I received an update firmare which improved the bugs somewhat but still left the constant rebooting to deal with. Almost a year after buying the TV I finally got an update that worked and I could use my TV without rebooting interruption so I disconnected the TV from internet to avoid any auto-updates of firmware and apps. My TV worked flawlessly for nearly 4 years now until 2 weeks ago when I connected it to internet to watch a Freeview movie and forgot about the autoupdate. As a result the TV downloaded and installed a new version of firmware which causes the same old issues of rebooting I had when I bought the TV. When I looked at reverting back to older firmware I found out that you won't allow it to happen because apparently according to your website "To ensure that your TV remains at optimum performance, the installation of an older software version is not possible. The latest software version contains all the benefits and improvements of previous versions. " As I see it the only improvement I see is to your sales figures as customers are forced to buy new TVs when the issue is the bugs you have in the released firmware. How about allowing us to chose the firmware version that works best for us ?
We bought this TV a week ago and while watching it I can notice the screen getting lighter and then again darker, the image keeps changing it's a light difference but it's very often and I find it annoying. Has anyone noticed that too? Can I do anything about it? It does it on every mode (standard, cinema home etc). Thanks
Try turning the Light Sensor off, see if that helps.
Sony seems to have finally got the last firmware update working ok so now I've turned off the automatic update off, just in case they decide to screw it up again. :)
Had the same issue there is an automatic contrast setting in the menus if you turn this off it will stop it. Worked for me..
Thanks a lot. In fact it changes when the subtitles are on, still does it. I have another question. We used to have in feature apps, SBS on demand and ABC iview. Suddenly it disappeared. I've been trying to download the apps in Google Play, Opera TV Store, even through the Internet browser but I can't find them anymore (except on the Internet browser but there it said that the apps are not compatible but it should as it used to work). Where can I go get these apps from? Thanks!

My Sony 55W800C keeps on rebooting and don't want to start. How can i fix this problem especially i have kept it
off for a week and the problem continue?
Try updating the firmware to the one that was just released last week, you should be able to download it from Sony and use a USB stick if direct download does not work. Who knows, maybe this time they got one that actually fixed most of the bugs. If that doesn't work it probably needs the main board replaced and you need to convince Sony to send a repairman to have a look at it before they will do anything. Make sure you have no other devices plugged into your TV otherwise Sony will likely blame them for your TV not working. Good luck with having your Sony TV repaired.
Thanks for the advice.
