This mop is fantastic. I have about 100sqm of hard floors - all epoxy coated. Since it was laid about 5 years ago, I have only ever vacuumed and mopped the floor with the old school bucket and dangly mop that I would wring out. Only a few months ago, I was seeing that the floor wasn't coming up clean no matter how often I mopped and changed water… Read more
and detergents. I tried mopping with detergent water from one bucket and rinsing in another bucket. I decided to look for steam mops. No idea what to look for but jumped online and noticed the Shark was getting good reviews for a reasonable price. I bought one straight away and had it delivered. The mop is well packed including a user manual and a super long power cord (something like 8 metres or thereabouts), and 4x scrubbing pads (2 sets). After a vacuum of the floor, I filled the mop with distilled water and placed the 2 pads on the bottom. Turned it on and chose the hard core deep clean mode from the 3 options - light, medium, deep. Didn't take long at all to heat up and ready to go. Once I got going, it was fun to use. It didn't take long at all to do the whole floor area. I had to change powerpoints only once because the one powerpoint didn't cover the whole area. The scrubbing function of the pads spinning around makes a difference. The unit runs reasonably quiet. There is no effort to physically scrub or press into the floor for the mop to work. The storage tank held enough water for me to clean the whole floor without refilling. Refilling for each use is very easy. Just pop open the tank lip and pour the water in then push close the lid. The mop is light and easy to maneuver. The difference after the first steam mopping is huge. There is a massive noticeable difference in cleans from the regular mop to the steam mop. The floor now has it's glossy polished look that was lost over the years. The pads came out quite dirty on the first use but the best thing is, they can be thrown into a wash bag and into the washing machine for next use. 2nd and subsequent cleans didn't leave the pads as dirty as the first use. I'm a big fan of this steam mop.
Fantastic. My tile floors look so clean. Light and easy to handle. No more ringing out the pads on the mop. I was very surprised how light it is to use. I kept putting off the decision to buy one as had a steam mop a few years ago but this one with the rotating disc scrubbing pads is next level. My apartment floors look as new and so I highly… Read more
recomend. Not just another gadget but a necessity? Pads wash easily, floor dries in minutes. I keep a bottle of distilled water in my fridge to use as it does use the water quickly but so much quicker than a mop and bucket.
This particular model has a non removable tank and controls on the tank area. There are 3 steam/speed settings but no way of operating the mop with the steam turned off. I would have liked to have seen that as the mop itself leaves swirl marks on the floor and it would have been nice to see if they could have been buffed away by using a non… Read more
steam version, but now it seems if I want that I will have to buy a floor polisher or use a hand held straight mop which kind of defeats the purpose of having this mop.
None the less the mop itself does a good job and glides across the floor with little effort.
Now, I did try using different pads which had not been used but it made no difference, I still got the swirl marks but I have to say the parquetry floor on the kitchen did not show these swirls as much as the straight boards in the rest of the house.
The pads themselves just velcro on and off and can be machine washed . The mop uses plain water and the manufacturer recommends distilled , and warns against adding anything to the water or trying to use this on a carpet or a mat.
Placing the handle in the upright position switches off the rotating pads and the steam , but there does appear to be power still going to the 3 steam/speed settings.
It took around thirty or so seconds for the steam to appear and I tried all three settings on my hardwood floors and it looks like those setting control the speed of the rotation ,but I doubt there was any extra steam generated. Anyway, it does the job, I used three sets of pads and all ended up with dirt on them. I also tried the mop on a part of the floor where a mat had been and and there was some sort of droplets that looked like tar under the mat and the steam mop had a hard time removing those. As I mentioned the tank does not come off and they give you a pouring spout to fill the tank but it is a little hard to see when the tank is full and you basically have to do it by ear . For the money it's not a bad buy and serves a purpose., but I know those swirl marks are going to mean I have to go over the floor with a conventional pad and mop.
We are hooked on Shark products. Just purchased the steam and scrub mop; we were a little dubious at first as we had a cheaper one some time ago. This is fantastic, the floor is dry in minutes, the floor is shiny and clean and spotless. The pads are easy to put on/off and can be hand washed or machine washed. I would recommend this. Bought from Betta Elcetrical at Cannonvale Qld. To my surprise it was half price. Used a couple of times as I have all tiled floors. It’s fantastic cleans beautifully and I use Detol and White vinegar in the water. The house is spotless and smells great. Highly recommend. Show details
Terrible quality purchase. Do not waste your money. Started making grinding noises after 3 uses and stopped working altogether after 10 uses. Piece of crap.
I have used a cheaper mop in the past but it didn't get hot enough and without the scrubbing action did not clean as well. My shark Steam mop is fantastic. I was amazed with how dirty the pads got after cleaning the floor. Just goes to show how ineffective the old mop was. The shark mop gets really hot, I can see the steam coming up as it cleans.… Read more
My only reason for marking it down is I would like to have a larger water tank. This mop does a great job.
Good product. Cleans the floor great and the cord is nice and long for easily getting around your house. My only issue is that it can be difficult to control on a high setting so it a great option if you have a back issue. Otherwise its a good mop. Show details
For someone with sore hands and shoulders it makes mopping much easier, the only thing I don't like about it is after a short while the scrubbing pads just spread dirty water on the floor and I have to rinse them off a few times to prevent this from happening.
This is great , I bought a cheap one and it did not heat and my floors did not feel so clean afterwards , The box came with two lots of pads which is great to swap out . I mainly use it for sanitation. I use it in our bathrooms and it’s really made a difference. I purchased for under 180 and I think it’s very reasonable price . It’s also very quiet . The only thing I would change is the water funnel . Show details
Game Changer for Me! – This steam mop is absolutely awesome. What a game changer! I have white vinyl flooring in my kitchen, dining, laundry, bathroom, sunroom and toilet areas. Keeping white vinyl flooring clean is always a challenge. But not with this little beast! Gets right up close to skirting boards, cleans up spills and marks with ease. There are three modes on… Read more
this mop, light, normal, and deep. The first time I used it I did a deep clean, and now with regular mopping I only have to do a light clean. It comes with 4 removable pads so you can still use it if the other 2 pads are in the wash. My real estate agent was so impressed they actually called me after an inspection to ask what I was using to get the floors so clean. When I told her about this little gem, she said she was going out to buy one for her floors! The floors dry quickly, and are not saturated at all. Perfect steam ratio everytime. The house i live in is quite large, so I use a whole tank of water, but considering the size of the tank, this is actually pretty decent. And the cord is actually a decent size. I can literally mop all those areas with only having to plug the cord into a different outlet to mop the bathroom. Considering the size of the home, that's a very very very long cord. I'd be lost without this little gem now!
All steamed up – I recently purchased this steam and scrub mop after my very trusty 50+ year old Hoover scrubber polisher (passed onto me by a relative many years ago) had reached its use-by-date (brushes no longer available). The Shark mop works very differently but nevertheless seems to do a very credible job on our tiled floors. It comes with a spare set of… Read more
floor pads and whilst it is not battery powered it has an 8 mtr cord, long enough to do large areas. I did need to refill the water tank once, but the unit takes less than a minute to heat up, so I was able to continue quickly. It has several advantages over using your average mop. No detergents are required (it works purely on water/steam) so there is no sticky residue left (and you save money on expensive floor cleaning products), you're not rinsing mops in dirty water and spreading that over your floors and it has a very quick drying time. With 3 steam and scrub settings, it can be used on any floor surface except carpet. I tried it on laminate flooring on the lowest setting and it worked fine, whilst the normal and deep settings worked a treat on tiled floors. Even the most stubborn stains lifted without a problem. The pads were quite dirty after cleaning even though the floors had been mopped 2 days earlier, so obviously the Shark is doing the job. The unit is easy to fill and apart from washing the floor pads -definitely a job worth doing after each use - it is also easy to clean and store. I do have a couple of gripes though. Because of the round floor pads it cannot get into corners. A separate brush attachment for those hard to reach spots would have been great. It would also be good if there was a bristle mop head so that it could do dirty grout lines. The unit did lift surface dirt off the grout lines, but for a deep clean something with bristles is really needed. However, despite these minor issues it really is a good unit and purchased at a really great discounted price. Just hope it lasts as long as my trusty old Hoover, now sadly discarded!
Another perfect Shark product – This machine scrubs my wooden floors, my tiles and even painted wooden floors Show details
