Purr Succulent Red Snapper & Tuna In Gravy Cat Food

I buy the fish jelly pouches. Started out ok, seems to contain some good ingredients with no carbs. Looks good on paper. But, I've had three pouches lately, from different boxes, that were completely rotten. Turned to liquid rotten, absolutely disgusting. Looks like I'll be looking for something new. Show details

Made my cat Frank seriously ill - $500 vet bills! – Any of the Purr food, wet or dry or treats, definitely not good for cats. My cat has been well for months until yesterday when he was given a Purr tuna loin treat. He's been vomiting all night and half the day - as he did the last time I gave him Purr. This cheap and nasty food should be banned. DO NOT feed it to your cat. Show details
Unhappy with product – We have the sachet, not tin, and found a bone in our cats food! It could have hurt our precious girl a great deal if I wasn’t checking what I was putting into her bowl! Show details
2nd day I fed my cat and within 20 minutes she vomitted everywhere!! – I usually buy fussy cat or gourmet brand cat food but couldn't find any at Coles this time around so thought I'd go with their range of gourmet food. Honestly no complaints about the smell or portions size or even the look of the food it looked similar to other brands I feed her. The day I purchased it she ate with no issues if anything it took… Read more
her a little longer to eat than normal which I thought was odd. Today I fed her and within 20 minutes of having this food she vomitted all over the floor. In the whole time I've had her she's never vomitted once or had any issues with food even when I change brands. For the cost you can buy much better food that won't make your animal violently ill avoid at all costs.
Not satisfied – I can't speak for the quality, except to say my cat isn't overly keen on it. But what does annoy me is we are getting ripped of by 15gm per can (45gm for the 3 pack) Show details
My Ragdoll hates it! – I bought the chicken gravy recipe. Opened the can & the colour of the chicken looked terrible & it didn’t smell good. It was not like the other cat food. See photos attached Show details

Purr Seafood Cans – My Siamese cat enjoys both seafood varieties. She eats 1 can in the morning with a dessert spoon of cooked brown rice, fresh kangaroo strips in the afternoon and another half a can of the seafood later in the afternoon. She was eating Canin dry food and kangaroo previously and got a bladder infection, so I took her off the dried food. The Purr is a switch that she enjoys, having tried other brands of wet food. Cured my cats coughing Thankyou purr – I have a maine coone and one day he started coughing one day. He gets fed usually raw meats and high grade dry food. He would get healthy snacks and side snacks of fish. But the vet said he has an allergic reaction to something and I spent months doing food trials and no luck this cough wouldn’t go away. I decided to go the bland food diet as last… Read more
resort and it’s very expensive. I decided a couple weeks time I’ll spend $100s on this bland diet from vets but leading up to that I’ll just give my boy whatever is one sale at coles as a last hooray. Purr. I bought purr after two weeks on purr he stopped coughing. I couldn’t believe it. I researched purr and saw that they add prebiotic elements and other things he’d never had. And he is so happy and not coughing. So thanks purr from my cat Elvis and I. You saved him from a life of bland food. And we now know he is able to keep eating whatever he likes now as long as purr is included. Thankyou x
Loved by my Cat – My cat loves Purr real food and gravy giving her both food needs in one. Was getting her wet food with gravy and they smelled horrible and chunks to big, so tried Purr and she ate every bit and clearly enjoyed it Show details

Every time of purr varies greatly in quality – I find a good tin check date on bottom then walk 20mins to supermarket to buy as many of that date as possible. But from one tin to the next the consistency and it seems fish used varies from fantastic chunks of white fish to disgusting brown or red shredded ...stuff.i hope my cat doesn't get sick, as I ponder another 20min walk to check dates. Looking for 19th of July 2026, I got 5 out of 10 good product Show details
PLEASE DO NOT FEED THIS TO ANY ANIMAL – I believe this food ended my cats life. My cat had severe complications seemingly out of no where. She was rushed to the vet and was in and out for 2 weeks, before going downhill and requiring euthanasia due to severe kidney failure. Her bodily functions shut down and her body couldnt process any food or drink. After her first 2 days at the vet,… Read more
she came back home in a stable condition, and then i fed this food to her again. This pattern repeated (going to vet in poor condition, the vet stabililised her with the drip and i take her back home and repeat) for 2 weeks until she was too far gone and eventually the drip and medication couldnt even help her anymore, and I had to put her down.
The vet couldnt pin point what the issue was and asked me if anything had changed. I couldnt think of anything until one day it clicked to me that I had purchased a multi pack of this food from Coles on the Friday before the first time she was really sick on the Tuesday. By the time i realised this, she was already too far gone.
The timeline for her sudden decline in health and me feeding her this food times out perfectly, and it will be hard to forgive myself for continuing to feed this to my sweet girl each time she came home. This "food" is NOT fit for animal consumption and needs to be pulled from shelves and banned immediately!!!
I apologise to my cats when giving this to them – Got 2 cats - 1 can be a bit fussy, the other will eat anything. I thought Bought 2 boxes of mixed pouches from Coles just for a change and to see if it was any good. I Beef - I chicken selection Opened up the chicken - it was kind of white goop - very liquid (water) - even I took a pull. It just looked hideous. But, I thought, well they… Read more
been selling this so I'll let the cats decide.
Laid it out on cat's individual plates
The fussy eater tried it and gave up.
The other cat, that will normally wolf down anything took one look/sniff and that was it. Absolutely refused to go near it. Frankly, I'm not sure I blame her.
But, I got 2 boxes of this crap - the Beef one got a bit better reception. So I sort of trick the cats into going with it and mixing a bit of the white goop.
They have dried food on hand 24/7 so won't starve before it's gone.
I find myself surprised this stuff is still on sale.
This stuff is very liquid so I'd say you're paying a lot for water and 'serves' don't seem to be very big.
And, yes, I apologise to cats when I feed them this stuff.
Nearly gone

My cat loves all the varieties, She likes it a lot better than the other brands with their "pate" style meat. At least you can see the fish etc in purr unlike a lot of the other brands. Show details
Won’t be buying anymore… – My cats used to love this cat food. But when they changed the packaging they changed the recipe. Now even the dog wont touch it. It’s watery and smells like its made out of rotten fish. Thankfully neither of them have gotten sick yet, like some others. Money wasted. Wont be buying anymore Purr. Show details
Cat didn't even like it – Ripped off, purchased a box of Purr Chicken Gourmet Selection Pack from Coles in Armadale WA. Unfortunately for me instead of 12x85gm pouches in the box, there were only 11. Show details
Cost me $2K in vet bills – I decided to feed my cat Purr cat mince (from the cold section of the pet aisle - the chicken mince). He had diarrhoea for a month, muscle and weight loss, was always ravenous because he wasn't absorbing any nutrients. He developed a bulge in his abdomen and due to all the aforementioned problems I took him to the vet. I thought chicken mince… Read more
would be better than tinned food... not. He required blood tests and an ultrasound of his abdomen due to a huge lump (which turned out to be pooling diarrhoea in his gut), his B12 is so low he now needs 6 weeks of Vit B 12 injections to help him absorb food again, his liver numbers were deranged on his blood tests so they were initially querying liver cancer, I had to put him on a special diet because the vet thought it was a food intolerance. after 2 weeks of not eating Purr cat mince he finally doesn't have diarrhoea and doesn't look so miserable. His repeat blood tests showed his liver numbers are normalising as well. Feeding my cat cost $2K in vet bills, damaged his health, and caused us both a huge amount of stress! (March 2022).
It's not just my cat – The first time I offered Purr grain-free bikkies to my cat, she veered away from it like they were opposing magnets. I offered it a few more times, she wouldn't touch it. I wondered if she was fussy about the change of brand and offered a bikkie in my hand to her. She took it, but immediately spat it out with force (never seen her do that… Read more
before!). I tried mixing it in with her old brand (which I've done at other times when trying a new product on her, with success). She was wary and picked through it for the non-Purr bikkies. She did eat a few Purr bikkies this way though, and I was glad she was giving it a go. However, she has been vomiting, which happens now and again, but she has brought up her food a few times now in the space of a few days - since she's been eating the mix of Purr and non-Purr bikkies. Unfortunately I thought I might've been to blame as I've been giving her a few more 'extras' than usual, e.g. a little fish, or a dollop of plain yoghurt - as she has eaten a lot less bikkies than usual! I finally looked online and found review after Purr cat food review telling of how their cats hate it and won't touch it, or else they've been reluctantly eating it but then been sick. I thought maybe she was being fussy with the change. So I'm sorry I put her through that hell, and will listen to her more fully next time (the PIF of the bikkie in the air after I offered it from my hand should've told me). I'll never buy any Purr products again. Btw, I didn't have the receipt but took it back to Coles for a refund, which they happily gave. I tried to explain what had happened but the staff wasn't terribly interested - she was busy. Can something be done to investigate what's wrong with this brand, and get it off the shelves to save other cats from it? People are paying good money for it. It's not right.
PURR Food POISONED my cats! – I purchased the 8 pack of Purr cat food online. It was the first time I bought this size and it was very different than the rest of the range, mince. My cats ran off from the odour and didn't want to eat it so I kept trying and they ate it. They layed down with bloated stomachs and soon got diahorrea and were dragging their bottom across the… Read more
floor. They were food poisoned by this Purr wet cat food. After carefully looking over the packaging in very small print on the bottom of the cardboard, which gets thrown out I think it was a refrigerated product and not from the shelf with normal cat food. As I had it delivered I couldn't know this as it wasn't cold when I received it and it was in a normal grocery bag. It made my cats very sick! I also noticed it has sulfur in it and another dangerous chemical that depletes the cats vitamin B. I will never buy Purr again!
Tried the raw food… didn’t end very well – Tried the raw food in a pinch when I couldn’t get my cat’s usual food. Went for this brand because it seemed reasonably priced. She ate it well enough the first time, nibbled on it the next day and turned her nose up on day three. Started mixing it into my large breed dog’s food to use it up (small quantities of course) and soon he started to… Read more
have very mucusy poop. There were red bits in it and at first I thought it was blood, but they were actually little red bits that were part of the food. I later recognised them in the meat portions. Being as positive as I can about this, and not accusing the manufacturer of including something potentially harmful, I’ll simply suggest that this stuff is an indigestible filler, coloured red to pass as meat, which is still pretty outrageous.
0/100 would never buy again!
Gave Cat GI Issues – I was buying the 3 pack purr cat food cans for a period of three months. Cat had diarrhoea and blood in stools until I clicked and stopped buying it. Problem resolved as soon as I stopped feeding her this. Show details
if the flies won't touch it, don't give it to your cats – Three cats in the house who will usually eat what they are given, walked away from their plates and didn't eat any of it. One cat went outside so their plate was put outside for them to eat. The cat didn't eat it and the flies didn't touch it over a period of 12 hours and the food was thrown out. Warning! Ingredients Garlic! cats will get Heinz Body Anaemia. A death sentence – Cats lack enzyme to process onions, garlic. Ignorant Coles have added garlic. They know instinctively or smell the offending garlic. My cats trusted me & ate Purr. Now they are all… Read more
sitting on bellies, not curled sleeping much, back on bellies. No treatmt. A blood transfusion 1 option. My cats only had Purr 2 or 3 times. You can ask Vet for Heinz Body blood test to confirm. Only 1 other way cats get H/body. A rare prescription drug. Throw Purr in bin now. And I wouldn't trust COLES brand cat food either. Listex ingredients says natural antoxidants. I'm aafraid this may mean garlic to their ignorance too!
My cats will NOT eat these bikkies! – Purr Tuna & Ocean Fish dry cat food. When Coles had sold out of the brand of cat bikkies that we usually buy, we thought we'd give these a go. There were heaps missing from the shelf so we thought they must've been popular. My 3 cats, who have all eaten all of the bikkies we've ever bought, were super excited to hear the bag open. over and smelt the bikkies, looked at each other, and walked away. Not a single one was interested. Is there something wrong with these bikkies for my cats to rather be hungry than to eat these?
this is the worst cat food I've ever bought – My cats won't eat this dry food. They leave it in their bowl and prefer to go hungry. I tried giving it to some stray cats that live on my street. They wouldn't touch it, either. If a hungry stray cat won't eat free food, then you know there is a problem. I won't buy it ever again. Show details
Made our cat and dog VERY sick! – Made our cat and dog VERY sick! My dog is a Labrador and will basically eat everything. We gave him the biscuits our cat wouldn’t eat, (we thought she was just being fussy) he had one mouthful and then he wouldn’t touch them. We threw the bag out, but it was too late they were both vomiting all day and night. Show details

Poor Quality!! – Nothing good to say about this product at all. The smell of cat food is bad in general, but this product takes it to a whole other level of bad! Also not overly impressed when opening several satchets for my cat only to find white coloured 'gravy' and absolutely NO MEAT at all! What a waste of money!! Show details

Purr Cat food – This used to be a good product, I've have been buying it for years but slowly they have been changing things and now I will find another cat food. Firstly they reduced the portion, then put the price up, now it's a lot of sauce rather than meat or their new range which is mainly jelly, also sometimes I open a pouch and it smells really bad.....such a shame as I did like the original product Show details

Purr Chicken & Ocean Fish 1kg Cat Biscuits – My cats refuse to eat this product and I do have some absolute biscuit lovers. My 6 cats were all once street cats so they are not fussy eaters. No matter how hungry they get, they just won't touch these biscuits. It makes me wonder if there was a contaminated batch. I've tried over several weeks to offer them up at times when my cats are at their hungriest - they are so excited to hear the bag open but then refuse to touch these biscuits. Show details
Made my cat sick – I fed my cat this cat food from coles at first he loves it and for a few weeks it was all good.
