The cooling performance is amazing, it manages to keep my large bedroom at an amazing temperature Love the ease of use , and purchase price is decent in the current climate of living costs The system is extremely quiet and has features to use your phone to use Show details
We’re a family of four with two young kids, and the Midea Venus has honestly been one of the best home upgrades we’ve made. Living in Australia means dealing with scorching summers and chilly winter mornings, and this particular model has been more than powerful enough for our medium-sized living space. From the very first week, we noticed how… Read more
quickly the unit cools our area — a lifesaver during 35–40°C days when the kids come home hot and sticky. The airflow is strong but gentle, and the quiet mode has been amazing during naps and bedtime. Even our toddler, who wakes up at the slightest noise, sleeps straight through while it’s running.
Energy efficiency has been another big win. We were worried about the bills, but the eco mode on the Venus model really makes a difference. It keeps the temperature comfortable without constant cycling, which has helped keep our electricity costs down. The Wi-Fi control has also been super handy — we often switch it on before school pick-up so the house is already cool by the time we walk in.
Aesthetically, the unit looks sleek and modern, blending nicely with our home. It’s not bulky, and the outdoor unit runs quietly, which is great in suburban Australian neighbourhoods where outdoor noise travels easily.
Overall, the Midea Venus has made our home so much more comfortable, especially with young kids who are sensitive to heat and cold. If you’re an Aussie family looking for an energy-efficient, affordable, and reliable aircon, this model is genuinely worth it. It’s been a total game changer for us.
They are a good value-for-money option, offering solid performance, energy efficiency, and features like smart controls at a lower price point than top-tier brands. The app keeps playing up for me though.
Energy wise, it’s pretty efficient. I was a bit worried my electricity bill would jump after installing it, but it’s actually been quite reasonable. The inverter technology seems to make a real difference.
The Midea Venus 2.6 kW split system has been a welcomed addition to our household especially during the recent Melbourne winter. comfortable room has also helped improve those long cold nights. We look forward to the use of this device during winter and those warm nights that make hard to sleep. With a soon to be renovation, we will be to install additional units of the same model to make use of a single app.
Pros -The device app is very easy to use and set up -The device is quite and puts out plenty of heat or cooling -Installation was fairly simple and it’s compact size was able to be located where we wanted it
Cons -The remote is a little bit cumbersome but not massively An issue when you have the app. - Even though quiet it can make the odd squeak when the vents are set to move or sway.
Overall, we are very happy with the brand and installation and even post installation service.
I’ve been using my Midea air conditioner for over a year now, and I’m genuinely impressed with its performance. It cools my room quickly, even on really hot days, and maintains a steady temperature without needing constant adjustments. I also appreciate how quiet it is, barely noticeable when running. my room décor, and the remote control and smart features make it very convenient to use.
Energy efficiency is another big plus, I’ve noticed lower power bills compared to my old unit.
Overall, I’m very satisfied, it’s reliable, stylish, and excellent value for money.
I’m really satisfied with its comfort, efficiency and value for money.
The unit is small and sized for the 10sqm room. The remote works fine, the unit is very quiet and heats and cools the room with ease. We have in other rooms older Fujitsu units, I prefer the Midea as it can be controlled via an app as well. The installation team was very professional and friendly, I cannot say anything negative. Follow-up · The current weather doesn't require heating or cooling, meaning we use the unit very little. The unit is very quiet and runs smoothly, filtering the air nicely. I will provide a further update when it gets warmer and we use the unit more often (incl. the app). However, our short periods of usage and tests were very positive!
I've had the Midea Venus 2.6kW for about two weeks now and overall, it’s been a great little unit. It cools my bedroom quickly and having a west facing room, it is an important feature particularly when summer comes. the past. The compact size means it doesn’t dominate the wall space and the design is quite stylish, with a clean finish and an LED display that shows the temperature clearly when in use.
The manual could use some improvement, as there was no clear guidance on how to connect the air conditioner to my Wi-Fi. It should have advised users to download the app and follow the instructions to connect it to the internet. That said, the app is easy to use and shows me the current temperature in my suburb. As I use Google home, it was easy to integrate and I can turn the heating or cooling to make it more comfortable. Another small area for improvement is the legibility of the remote control screen; it can be hard to read at certain angles or in low light.
After two weeks, I’m happy with its performance and energy efficiency, and I’m looking forward to seeing how it holds up over time. For now, it’s doing exactly what I need, keeping the room comfortable without being intrusive, and at a price point that feels fair for what you get.

After spending some time using the Midea Venus Series 7.0kW split system (model MFAG70VA-N), I've come away generally impressed with its performance, flexibility, and smart features. However, there are a few quirks that are worth noting if you're considering this unit. Performance & Comfort One of the most impressive aspects of this air… Read more
conditioner is its ability to effectively heat an entire house, even replacing a traditional ducted heating system. On just 50% fan speed, it manages to bring the temperature up across multiple rooms, albeit slower than ducted heating, but with potential energy and cost savings in the long run. When quick temperature changes are needed, the "Boost" mode works well, although it's quite noisy, which is expected at high fan speeds.
The unit is very quiet on lower fan settings, making it ideal for bedrooms or night time use. It also handles air direction intelligently: by default, it directs warm air down and cool air up, which aligns well with how air naturally moves in a space. This seemingly small detail makes a real difference in comfort.
Smart Features & Remote Control The smart integration is excellent. Full control via Google Home is seamless, and while Alexa is also supported, I didn't test that as I don't use Alexa. The Midea app is functional and user-friendly, allowing you to do almost everything the remote can, except for some limitations, but those are mostly around the settings that you won't change often. E.g. you can't toggle the LED display on or off from the app (that option is greyed out). That said, the app does let you save and recall "favourites", so you can power on the unit with all your preferred settings with a single tap, which is a great time-saver.
Another standout feature is the "Follow Me" mode, which uses the thermometer in the remote control instead of the unit itself. This makes temperature control far more accurate, especially useful when you're in a different room from the AC unit. However, this only works when the remote is within line of sight of the unit, and updates between the remote and the unit are quite slow, which can be frustrating. Also, Follow Me mode can’t be enabled via the app, which feels like a missed opportunity.
Switching between remote and app control can also create some confusion. While the app reflects changes made with the remote, the reverse isn't true, so settings like "Follow Me" don't always stay consistent if you're using both controls.
User Interface & Display The LED display is intuitive, showing the set temperature initially, then switching to display the actual room temperature as it adjusts. You can turn the LED display off, and when turned back on, it briefly shows the set temp before returning to real-time feedback.
Connectivity & Setup Pairing the unit with Wi-Fi is simple, but there's a quirk you need to be careful about: if you accidentally put the unit back into AP (pairing) mode after setup, it forgets its previous Wi-Fi settings entirely. You'll need to remove it from the app and go through the entire pairing process again something to avoid if possible.
Features That Need Work "Breeze Away" Mode: This function is only available in cooling mode, and seems to drop the fan speed to the lowest setting. It’s unclear exactly what it's meant to do, and documentation doesn't help much. It may be designed to reduce direct airflow, but clearer information would be helpful.
Lack of Smart Transitioning: It would be great if Boost mode could automatically switch back to a regular setting once the target temperature is reached, instead of requiring manual intervention.
App Limitations: You can’t change some unit settings via the app (e.g. LED display toggle, Follow Me mode), which limits the usefulness of remote control.
Final Thoughts Overall, I was unexpectedly impressed with this unit. Chinese made products can sometimes be hit or miss, but the Midea Venus Series MFAG70VA-N is a powerful, smart, and efficient split system that can realistically replace a ducted system in some homes. It performs well, offers excellent smart integration, and has thoughtful features like the Follow Me mode and directional airflow.
However, a few usability quirks, especially around the app limitations, confusing control syncing, and Wi-Fi memory reset, hold it back from being perfect. Still, for its price and capabilities, it's a very solid option for whole-home climate control.

Quiet, powerful air conditioner, a great addition to our home. We've had the Midea a/c for around a month, mostly used for heating as it is Winter now. It tested well on cold, and really shoots out the cold or hot air to make the space the right temp quickly. This is a cost effective A/C backed by Midea who are a fortune 500 company ($60 USD… Read more
billion revenue / $92B AUD last year). For a company I hadn't originally heard of this gave me confidence to put one on my wall.
Pro's: - Price (cheap!) - Works well - Quiet to operate (See video's of indoor and outdoor units) - LCD on front shows the temp in Celsius as a number - 7 year warranty (5 years as standard +2 free extension)
Cons: - Takes a few mins form turning on to pumping out hot air (maybe they all do?) - No wifi as standard (but I see only that you can buy an adapter to achieve this) - Could be perceived as cheap given the price vs more known brands in Australia (i.e. Daikin, Mitsubishi) - Some bad reviews exist for Midea in the past, however my new unit works well
In summary I received this as part of Product Review Ambassadors program and was asked to leave an honest review good or bad, I would buy one of these when I need a new air con or for a rental or office etc. as the 7 year warranty, performance and price combination is fantastic value.

With summer just around the corner, now’s the time to think about cooling your home. We installed the Midea Venus 2.6kW split system in our home office, and it’s been a great fit. (excluding installation), it’s a budget-friendly option that doesn’t compromise on performance. The wall unit has a clear hidden display (dimmable at night) and simple, reliable controls. Airflow is surprisingly strong compared to other units of this size.
Smart Features
The Midea SmartHome app makes setup easy and allows remote control via your phone, Alexa, or Siri—great for pre-cooling a room or ensuring it’s switched off. A full-function remote is also included, with a large, backlit screen that’s simple for all ages to use.
Cooling & Heating
* Cooling: Powerful and consistent, with a “Flash Cooling” mode to quickly lower room temperature. Oscillating fins let you direct airflow or keep it steady. * Heating: Works efficiently as a reverse-cycle heater, ideal for warming just the room you’re in without heating the whole home.
Air Quality & Comfort
The Micro Protection Filter helps capture dust, pollen, and allergens, while the system maintains a stable temperature (±0.5°C) without constant cycling.
Maintenance
Filter access is quick and tool-free—just vacuum or brush clean, ideally outdoors.
Verdict
This Midea Venus unit has proven efficient, quiet, and perfectly suited to our west-facing office. It needs professional installation, but comes with a 7-year manufacturer’s warranty for peace of mind. Midea may not be a household name in Australia, but as a Fortune 500 company with strong backing, their Venus series is a smart, affordable choice for all spaces that require cooling and heating.

We live in a Heritage house in Sydney & this system was installed in one of the larger bedrooms (5.8Mx4.3Mx3. 2M). Being winter it certainly heats the room quickly but summer cooling is more important. I'm sure it will be excellent in cooling. With the correct settings it's quite unobtrusive. external unit on the ground rather than on the wall. Our existing units are wall (brick) mounted & sometimes cause slight vibration. This does not. This unit has ample capacity for the room, likely excessive but that's great & not a problem. It has the "Smart WiFi" unit but I'm finding this somewhat confusing but will sort that out later as I'm skilled in technology. So finally words a great A/C which runs quitley. UPDATE: I have now mastered the smart phone feature. Whilst it is a bit confusing it works well & routines are easy. You can also operate the unit when away from home! One thing when adding the program to another user is the QR won't work (error 404), the phone option does not work (invalid number) but thankful the third option, email did work & it's easy.

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ 5-Star Review – A Game-Changing Addition to My Home What I Liked – A Lot! From start to finish, the installation (and the team behind it) impressed me greatly. **David**, who handled the installation assessment, carefully evaluated three very different areas of my home. He pinpointed the ideal location for the unit, measured everything… Read more
perfectly, and gave me confidence from the get-go.
**Vincent and Mr. Ocean**, the installers, were an absolute pleasure to have in my home. They clearly knew what they were doing, worked efficiently, kept noise to the minimum (just the necessary drilling), and left no mess behind—they even took all the packaging with them. After installation, I received a thorough demonstration, and they patiently answered all my questions.
The installation itself was clearly done with care—neat, tidy, and solid both inside and out.
As for the **unit’s performance**, it's been excellent. Since it's winter, I’m mainly using the heating, and it’s been a game changer. My small room heats up within minutes, and the unit maintains an even, energy-efficient temperature with ease. I briefly tested the cooling function as well, and it’s clearly powerful—I'm confident it will easily handle what can be some pretty harsh Sydney summer days and nights.
There is a low air push noise when really asking this unit to pump it out on max power but overall both the inside and outside units are lower on noise that I would of expected, defiantly not going to invite neighbour complaints if your unit is close to other properties or disturb my sleep.
On the small room this unit is designed for it reaches desired temperature very quickly to put it into a more economic maintain mode, and if you have some insulation and double glazing the comfort will be maintained for a reasonable amount of time after the unit is switched off.
The **auto settings** are where this unit really shines. I love that I can “set and forget”—it adjusts intelligently to my needs, often better than when I try to manually control things. Features like targeted temperature, breeze direction, and tilt control give it great versatility.
A few thoughtful design touches really stood out:
* The **remote cradle** was installed for me—convenient and great for forming the habit of always returning it to its “home,” so it never gets lost. * The **remote itself** is easy to navigate with large, well-designed buttons. * The **option to turn off LED lights** on both the remote and the indoor unit is an essential feature for light-sensitive sleepers—no “Christmas tree” effect in the bedroom, which many appliance makers overlook.
The unit was installed in a room that doubles as both a **bedroom and office**—small but heavily used—and in this recent wave of cold, rainy Sydney weather, the reverse-cycle heating has been nothing short of transformative.
Vincent also ensured the **startup and testing** were done properly, walking me through the full functionality with patience and care. It felt like a proper handover, not just a rushed job.

What Could Be Improved – Not Much, But Worth Mentioning
There’s very little I didn’t like, and none of it is enough to lower my 5-star rating. But in the spirit of constructive feedback:
* **I wish I’d done this sooner!** It's made such a difference already. * The **paper instruction manuals** felt a bit outdated in presentation. * There is a **slight delay (1–2 minutes)** between remote input and the unit responding. It’s completely normal and not a problem once you know, but it’s not clearly documented. Thankfully, Vincent explained this during the handover, or I might’ve thought the remote wasn’t working properly and kept clicking.
The only real hiccup was in the **pre-sales and logistics phase**, which did impact the overall experience:
* While the sales staff were friendly, they didn’t seem to have much technical or installation knowledge. Their initial visit left many basic questions unanswered, and there was some misinformation (e.g., incorrect advice about drainage setup). * Communication was difficult, mostly conducted through a translation app, which added to the confusion. * I suggested bringing an actual installer for a proper site inspection. I cleared my afternoon for this—only for no one to show up or call. * Several weeks passed before a proper assessment could be done. The job was then scheduled without confirming my availability, leading to more back-and-forth, and eventually delayed further due to rain.
To be fair, as a **product review ambassador**, my install may have been project-managed differently than a typical customer’s. So I’m not deducting a star. But it’s worth noting: if I’d been a regular customer, I might have walked away based on that early experience—which would’ve been a shame, because now, sitting comfortably in my cosy home office, I can say this unit has truly exceeded my expectations.
My suggestion: Midea and their installation partners should ensure **sales representatives have baseline technical knowledge**, or better yet, send an actual installer during the sales phase—especially when dealing with customers who may have unique site requirements.
---
Final Verdict
Despite some early communication issues, I’m absolutely thrilled with the product and the final result. The unit performs beautifully, the installation was top-notch, and it’s already made a huge difference to my day-to-day comfort.
Highly recommended!

I've been using my Midea air conditioner for several months now, and it's been a fantastic investment. It cools the room quickly, operates quietly, and is incredibly energy-efficient. The sleek design fits perfectly with my home decor, and the smart features make it easy to control from anywhere. Highly recommended for comfort and value.
The aircon is quite good, but not the best. It cools well, but is a bill riser when using it to heat. They come in a range of kws so you'll find something to suit each room. They look good and are installed close to the ceiling. With Wifi capabilities and self cleaning, these are a fantastic feature. Show details
The Midea air conditioner does a decent job at cooling and is fairly energy-efficient, which I appreciate. It’s relatively quiet and easy to use, but I’ve noticed it sometimes takes a little longer than expected to bring the room down to the desired temperature. The build quality feels okay, but not overly premium. Overall, it’s a good option for the price, but there’s definitely room for improvement in performance and features.

THE PRO'S..... As part of the Product Review Ambassador program, we recently had a Midea split system air conditioner installed into our holiday home, and the experience from start to finish has been nothing short of excellent. The installation on… Read more
the day by one of Midea's recommended installers was swift, professional, and carried out with attention to detail. From the moment the unit was up and running, I noticed how incredibly quiet it is, even when operating at higher settings, the sound is barely noticeable, which is a big plus for us. (Note - it's winter and we are only currently using the heating function).
The design is another standout feature. The unit has a sleek, modern look that blends seamlessly into our home décor. From what I can see, the surfaces are smooth and accessible, meaning it should be easy to clean and maintain over time – something I really value in home appliances.
Functionality-wise, the remote control is straightforward and intuitive, much like most air conditioners. However, the real game-changer is the Smart Home app. This feature allows me to set the temperature before arriving home, ensuring the space is warm in winter or cool in summer. It’s equally handy for those times when I forget to turn the unit off after leaving – I can simply control it from my phone while I’m out.
Performance so far on heating has been excellent. The system easily reaches the other end of the house to our bedrooms, which has been a welcome change this winter. With our previous unit, an older style one (same KW/size) from a well-known brand, the warmth never quite made it to those areas. The Midea has made our home far more comfortable.
After several weeks of use, I honestly cannot find any negatives to report. The unit has exceeded our expectations in every way, from design and quiet performance to smart features and heating/cooling reach. We hope it continues to perform this well.
In short, so far, we’ve been thoroughly impressed.
THE CONS.... Midea is a Chinese brand and their products are wholly made in China. If we are purchasing products, we generally look for an Australian brand first if possible.
I hope the unit lasts and operates as well as in it's first few weeks. If not, I will update this post down the track.
Follow-up · I have been asked to write a follow up to the original review. It’s too early to compare our electricity bills. The unit is functioning perfectly no complaints!
Effective Operation, Basic Looks, Underwhelming Service The Venus air conditioner has ordinary looks but its purported energy efficiency, performance and features make it a contender at its price point. cooling and heating effectively. The 2.6kW model is a fast workhorse, bringing the room to comfort quickly. Boost mode lowers/raises the temperature in the shortest possible time. 2. The indoor and outdoor units are quiet even at higher fan speeds. 3. The SmartHome app easily pairs with the unit and is essential for unlocking complex scheduling. 4. A handy night-time feature is the ability to turn off the LED display. 5. Comfort is improved thanks to the "Follow Me" setting that benchmarks temperature at the remote control rather than at the unit.
What could be improved? 1. The plastic looks and feels a bit cheap. It is less solid than other brands (Mitsubishi Heavy Industries and Mitsubishi Electric) and its design is underwhelming. 2. I could not evaluate the energy efficiency claims. Despite Wi-Fi connectivity, Venus models don’t support the app’s energy dashboard - a missed opportunity. 3. Midea’s customer service was unresponsive. Emailed queries to “aftersales” went unanswered and phone support did not follow through on promised information. 4. Installation via Midea’s Brisbane-based contractors involved multiple errors, including the wrong unit being installed and an unnecessary wall breach that needed correction. This experience has made me cautious about who might handle future warranty work.
Conclusion The Venus air conditioner earns 4 stars for being an effective and quiet performer with smart features. However, Midea customer service and contractors fell short of expectations. Only time will tell whether this unit will live up to its energy efficiency claims and outlast its 7-year warranty.

seated at the rear lounge, so time to try out something new. I've seen the brand Midea around, they had a dedicated store in Sydney's Northern Suburb, Chatswood at one stage, and I noticed their appliances were very modern and smart-looking...and attractively priced. The store also stocked Midea air conditioners, split systems, and multiheaded units. I got the Midea Venus 5Kw MFAG51 split system single head. All done professionally, and the site left clean and tidy. I've been using the unit heating my rear lounge every day and night now, and I have happily noticed several things; 1- The operation is quiet (up to around 60% fanspeed, which is common with all air conditioners I've ever used), 2- The rear lounge is very comfortable now sitting around 23-24 degrees though the outside temp is around 13-14 degrees. 3- The Midea App "Smart Home" is quite good, offering plenty of control, even away from home. 4- The unit is compatible with Google Home, allowing voice commands via "Hey Google". 5- The indoor unit is modern-looking though "chunky" in my mind. 6- The system is installed virtually back-to-back and honestly, I cannot hear the outdoor unit.
