Service has been missed completely 3 tax years leading to a loss of several thousand more. I'd advise anyone using the service to thoroughly check their return for mistakes before lodging it.

first accountant I had got on my nerves with the many times he misunderstood me. I got charged a fair bit (more than the refund) to do my tax through them. I don’t see why I got charged for my shares when this is pre-filled. The next accountant was much better and understood my needs and didn’t seem confused. Sadly the time difference showed that the accountants must be from outside Australia due to them only messaging late at night. Wont be using them again however. And don’t recommend them. To be honest I wish I went and saw the accountant in person but ridiculously they charge in half hour blocks!! So no thanks

Did my tax online , they were awesome and made it easy , have now the app and for a sole trader and having never done my own tax , they made it easy, can’t recommend them enough!! Show 2 replies

Don't even bother using the online service like any most other companies. You will not get a response and if you call the customer service number they will try and help you but unfortunately there's no communication internally. H&R also don't let you choose your accountant and will provide you with some third world immigrant that don't care or… Read more

This is by the worst accounting firm that I have dealt with. Attended my appointment on tax lodgment and BAS filing on the 18th of October at Thomastown. able to guide the agent to complete the TR and BAS after close to three hours.

Fast forward one week, no response, called up on 22nd October to enquire on status, was advised waiting on signature. To which I responded, documents were signed on 18th after the appointment. Close to two days, still no response. Received a call from tax agent on Friday 24/10, close to end of business asking me to provide details over the phone for the Q3 and Q4 BAS, as the details did not save right from initial appointment. Thereafter, she reassured that everything is sorted.

Moving on to second week on 28/10, my myGov account status still was not updated. Called in to check status, and was advised ready-to-lodge. Why was I advised on the Friday prior that everything is sorted if nearly 5 days later, the tax status is still incomplete.

And today the 30th of October, I gave up on H&R Block and called ATO directly. ATO advised they only received the tax lodgment and not the two BAS’s(which I have been charged for)

Called in to the firm to file a complaint , but as usual the team has advised me they have escalated the matter to their district manager, who I suppose is an imaginary person, as they were hesitant to provide a name so I could the verify the existence of this person so I can somewhat trust the information I’m hearing. Better still the receptionist can confidently assure me that the BAS’ has definitely been filed and it has left their company and is sitting with a quality team for checks, what am I hearing? 12 plus years in investment banking, I have not heard of such crap.

Now I have to sit around and wait for their imaginary district manager and possibly risk of penalties for late lodgment. The only thing they have done right is to update the banking details so they can collect their fees from refund, get money for a job they can’t do right.

I personally am glad I opted out from their income tax course a couple of years back. If they can’t even maintain a minimum level of competence in providing accounting service, I wouldn’t vouch on the credibility of their course. Probably just another source of income for the business.

Minus 1 million if I could. Useless, rude , especially the Mittaging office. DID not file my tax return for over 2 weeks after completing it. No reason, no offer of explanation.DO NOT USE TERTIBLE SERVICE TERRIBLE FOLLOW UP TAKE YOUR MONEY AND DO NOT PROVIDE THE SERVICE DISGUSTING

The portal was excellent, I tried contacting Bundaberg office directly as they are near my home, they were terrible, however using the portal was excellent, efficient, David was my accountant and he sorted out my complicated return in good time. Show reply

I recently visited the Cranbourne office unawares to the assistant who was in the office. Her name is Nidhi, I asked some questions about my tax information and Nidhi went out of her way to help me, which she didn't hesitate in doing. I was allocated a very inexpiernced accountant still in college. He did not reccomend tax deduction methods that I eventually had to advise him I was entitled to. I went to do my tax return for 2023/2024, they made me aware that I didn't file my tax return for 2022/2023 (I was not working for this financial year). From meeting a HR Block employee, we filed my tax return for 2023/2024.

I got a call a few weeks later that advised me that my tax return for 2022/2023 and is still open. HR Block offered to close this fo $90 dollars which I refused. I eventually did my tax return for 2024/2025 where my new accountant closed the 2022/2023 free of charge.

The accountant I used for 2024/2025 tax return was fantastic and was a very much welcomed change compared to HR Block.

I’ve been using H&R Block as my tax consultant for over 5 years. They’re always helpful, give great advice, and respond quickly. I’m really happy with their service and would definitely recommend them to anyone who needs help with their tax. Show reply

Pooja declined to refund me for a "pre-service" payment that was never provided and when I requested to speak with someone else, I was told no other staff member or manager would review my case. Have been going to H and R block for many, many years. I made an appointment for a date in October, and I rang to confirm. The person at H and R Block, Penrith, said there was no appointment listed. He was rude and hung the phone up in my ear. I have since found another business that is $180 cheaper for the same thing. I would never ever advise anyone to go to this business.

We have been with H&R Block for over 30 years, previously attending the Wembley Office, and then shifted to using their portal, which not only saved us a heap of money but also was far more efficient and we had more control over the process. When we had a query it was easy to either speak with a tax expert directly with no wait time or exchange information via email. Our tax refund was usually paid within 10 days of lodgement. Please don't bother with H&R Block in Moorooka QLD. They totally stuffed up my tax and I ended up having to pay double the amount! Save yourself the trouble and go someplace else!

accountants for online tax services are not very good, fail to get maximum returns, dont actually do much at all apart from put the numbers from documents you supply into a system much like ato etax, fail to provide accurate information about what they are submitting and the extra charges for filling out what is like 1 or 2 boxes are way overpriced and finally can't understand time differences and make appropriate appointments.
