I bought 3! (to use as computer monitors) – I bought a GE6827 (60cm) about 2 years ago now to use as a second monitor with my MacBook Pro. I bought a TV instead of a monitor due to the built in speakers, DVD player, TV function and USB media function. I picked this particular TV because it was one of the cheapest 1920x1080 TVs around. A year after buying it I bought another one for my mum… Read more

to use with her MacBook, and another year after that I bought one for my dad and his MacBook, thats how much I liked the TV. There may have been better or cheaper TVs out there but I knew how this one worked which is why I bought two more.

I really cant speak much for the DVD or TV functions as I haven't used them much at all so bare that in mind. The USB media (or DMP as it is on the TV) is a bit clunky and doesn't play all files but is better than some more expensive TVs I have used.

The speakers are perfectly adequate for watching TV, YouTube or a movie at not a ridiculously loud volume.

The screen itself is very nice and is a pleasure to look at.

The only issue I did have was with connecting the TV to the Macs via HDMI - the Mac didn't want to select the full HD resolution (which you can force it to do) and the font smoothing or digital rending or something was off making the image very unpleasant on the eyes. However I didn't have this problem with HDMI to a HP laptop or through DVI to the Macs.

One thing to note: when I went into Dick Smith to buy the third GE6827 there was another Dick Smith branded 60cm TV that looked almost identical for $50 more. Closer inspection found that it was a NEWER model (hence the higher price) but had a lower screen resolution. Quite hard to distinguish between the two from the front of the box so if you do wish to purchase one, make sure you double check the model number and screen resolution. Cheap. No problems with it so far. Clean and simple design. Good display HDMI didn't work with Mac. I presume customer service isn't as good as the bigger brands

Don't buy TV's from Dick Smith – Was given as an early Xmas present 2012, stopped working about May 2013, Again the same problem occurred about 7 months later (couldn't insert disc). They exchanged it and again the same occurred 21.01.14. Today I came back to exchange the product, the staff member gave a lame excuse about how my receipt had been a copy of the original purchase… Read more

, and they reprint receipts for customers all the time???? Even though a warranty only last 12 months, why would you have a receipt reprinted makes no sense!!!?

Do not buy TV DVD units from DICK SMITH.

Could not insert disc into DVD player of TV

Good TV for the money – Purchased the TV for my parents. The unit is 1080, 5ms with DVD unit built in. The picture quality is good but not the best in this size. Sound quality is fine as well. The remote is easy to use and quick to setup. All channels where picked up in my area. The white colour is nice and a good change from black. Picked the unit up for $258 with one… Read more
