I became a Darche supporter years ago when I first discovered the comfort of sleeping in a swag. The build quality, reliability and customer support that Darche provides is second to none. Here are my thoughts on the Nebula 1550: My wife and I are in our early 50s. We don’t camp a great deal but when we do the Nebula is our home away from… Read more

home. Yes, we doubled the mattress but do you absolutely have to? Nah.

It’s wide enough to hold both of our nearly 6ft frames and that of our faithful American Staffy, Torah. We opted for the larger nebula as it gave us just that extra bit of room, offered some nice screens for airflow and buttoned up tight when the weather sets in for the night.

A nebula gets you on the rd in comfort. It’s not a roof tent or a camper trailer but it packs up and down in a similar time and costs a fraction of the price.

In my humble opinion this crew make the best swags that money can buy. Yes, pack down is a little annoying but I’m able to take the money I saved not buying a caravan to spend more time camping and fishing.

Do yourself a favour, temper the reviews that you see on here with. Dose of reality. Most of these reviews sound like people just don’t like swagging it. So there’s the real question-do you want to camp via swag? If so, make peace with the idea and you’ll be very happy with a nebula.

pretty, but a functional flop – These swags look cool. However, the cool looking eaves at the end do absolutely nothing because the canvas openings below them roll to the top. I bought it thinking these eaves would save me packing and pitching a fly. I was totally fooled. Given it has cost me a fortune, I have persevered with it for two years. Some of the waterpoofing tape in… Read more

peeling away and the top pole is now held together with hose clamps where the rediculously thin aluminum snapped. I paid what I did because it has a thick waterproof base, but in this price bracket, any touring tent will have that.

Great quality, poorly designed windows – This is a very well built and very good quality swag, and the design of the upright walls is great. The end walls with the little overhang is a great idea but the design of the end windows makes them pretty much pointless. All the canvas for the windows is on the outside so if you have them open and the weather turns bad you pretty much need to… Read more

get out of the swag to close them up, and same if you want to open a closed window for some air, you have to open the fly screen first which let's all the mozzies and midgies in. If the end windows were "canvas inside" and opened from the top down, this would be the most vesatile and well designed swag on the market, but Darche have messed up pretty bad on this one. So many great windows and you can't easily open any of them from the inside. Bad weather is not a problem for one side window if you set up the included fly. But this doesn't help with cross ventilation.

Great swag poor mattress – Brilliant swag and idea, massively let down by the poor 50mm foam mattress. Darche customer service recommends spending another $200 on a 70mm foam mattress making this an expensive option. Best to buy the 23zero Outbreak, same swag same price and already includes the 70mm mattress.
