Slim line. Comfortable. Plenty of space. Loved camping in our roof top tent.
Very happy with this tent, very easy to install and to set up and pull down so stoked with how it looks and so easy to use! Definitely recommend for keen campers delivered quick and easy without no dramas. Loving it! Show details
The san hima Kalbarri Ben 2 rooftop is an excellent rooft top for space, my partner and I could sleep comfortably next to eachother without being on top of one another. Our only issue was the punt of condensation buildup was unbelievable, even with a window open for ventilation, we understand that condensation is going to happy on the inside of… Read more
the tent when it’s cold outside but this was another level, if there was maybe more little openings up higher to let trapped air out maybe this would stop it but all and all a good RT
Excellent value for money, really sound product. Feels sturdy and waterproof even in harsh conditions Show details
Overall a really good quality tent, from the latches to the canvas this tent looks to be solidly made. Have had this tent for about 12 months in north Queensland with the greatest thing being the large windows allowing excellent airflow through the tent. The only downside, especially in north Queensland, is when it rains the only protection is to… Read more
zip up the windows which can be a bit steamy in a 35 degree tropical north Queensland summer night as the tent doesn't have any awnings to stop the rain coming in. It's super easy to set up and pack away even with extra linen and pillows inside. I don't think you can get a better value for money tent.
Great product, purchased June 2024 and used it for around 50-60 nights camping in total. It is really comfortable and spacious compared to other designs. Relatively lightweight design and not too thick when folded so keeps your fuel bill down. Durability seems good overall. Only issues have been one locking plate fell off one of the two latches… Read more
(may be due to rough roads rather than the product itself) and the LED light bar stopped working. See my video review linked. I have recommended this product to many people and my mate purchased one and loves it too.

Thought I should leave another review 16 months on after purchasing the Kalbarri. During my time of owning the roof top tent, I have taken it far and wide on many trips, many nights sleeping in the tent to which I can’t say anything negative. It’s been through storms and heavy winds and still stood tall through it all. No water has gotten inside,… Read more
and even dust for that matter. It has great airflow, I haven’t had any molding. And the most important thing is the comfortability , every night I’ve slept in the tent I have had as good a sleep as I do in my own bed at home.
Massive thumbs up to San Hima, just goes to show you don’t need to spend crazy money on a roof top tent when San Hima offers great quality at affordable prices!

The San Hima Kalbarri Gen 2 is a fantastic choice for anyone seeking the speed and convenience of a hard-shell tent on a budget. Its best features are the lightning-fast setup and the super slim, low-profile design, which is great for aerodynamics. The clamshell design is incredibly quick. I can unlatch the two buckles and push it open in less… Read more
than 60 seconds—it's truly a game-changer compared to a traditional soft-shell. The gas struts make the lifting process easy and secure. However, like all clamshells, the biggest "snag" during pack-down is carefully tucking in the canvas fabric at the sides, especially near the hinges, to ensure a clean, smooth closure without pinching.
It comfortably fits two people. The ceiling height at the hinge end is generous, making it easy to sit up and change clothes. The aluminum telescoping ladder feels sturdy and adjusts easily to different vehicle heights.
The low, aerodynamic shell is fantastic. It drastically reduces wind noise compared to bulkier RTTs and has had a negligible impact on my fuel economy over the last month.
The windows are large, and the mesh is effective at keeping bugs out while providing excellent airflow. The skylight is a great touch for viewing the stars! The internal storage pockets and external shoe bags are extremely useful and well-placed.
Final Verdict The San Hima Kalbarri Gen 2 is a must-consider in the budget hard-shell category. For the price point, you get the huge benefit of a fast, low-profile clamshell tent. Over the past month, it has made setting up and packing down camp genuinely enjoyable.
Would I buy it again? Yes. The speed and slim design alone make it worth the money.
We’ve spent several weeks at a time living in the San Hima Kalbarri Gen 2 rooftop tent, and it’s handled every kind of weather—rain, wind, and heat—without a problem. The added height makes it feel surprisingly spacious, and the skylight is a great touch for natural light during the day and stargazing at night. Setup is quick and effortless, even… Read more

Guys! Matt Preston, BuiltCruisers here. I've had this tent for well over a year and done multiple videos on youtube about it. YT "BuiltCruisers" It's been a great rtt more on the light and small size so its been great for my prado. Done over 30nights in it and hasn't leaked or let me down. Would recommend!
An amazing rooftop tent. I’ve used it for 32 months. High quality. Easy to put up & down with ladder once you master it. In extreme windy weather sleep with the support bar down on the mattress. I wish I learnt that a long time ago. Show details
Excellent RTT! After a lot of research we finally purchased the gen 2 kalbarri and we have not been disappointed. The set up was easy and just needed a few friends to lift it onto the roof. The tent is very slim once up there compared to other tents. The roofbars have been a big advantage, we’ve put surfboards and maxtrax up there. Inside, there’s… Read more
plenty of room for 2 people, the mattress is comfortable and the zips/material are good quality. The only fault is that the ladder steps are flat which is painful when climbing up in bare feet.

Best RTT I’ve ever used – The quality is very good for what you pay in comparison to other brands. The extra space is amazing and makes it feel so spacious inside. Definitely best value for money RTT on the market.
10/10 Best tent – Tent was easy to mount, setup is very quick and simple, the mattress isn’t the best but after adding toppers it’s a great sleep, condensation was a problem the first night however that was from us not opening a window. Slept with our heads towards the opening making it feel more spacious. Overall great product and would recommend. Vicoffroad sent the tent out fairly fast which was good. Show details
San Hima Gen 2 – I received the San HIMA gen 2 tent 2 weeks ago, tent was very easy to install Such a slim sleek design I took the tent out this weekend, it took less then 2 minutes to set up, it was a windy day and night, the tent held up just fine, the light in the tent come in very handy Packing the tent up was a breeze I do recommend removing your pillows and thick blankets I highly recommend this tent Show details
KalBarri Gen 2 Mounted on a Tray – Did as much research as I could before purchasing as I was mounting this tent on the tray of a BT50 not a roof. Ordered it 2 days before Easter expecting it to arrive after Easter. Too my amazement it arrived just 48 hours after ordering. Unpacked the tent and found it 100 mm too long for the tray. Luckily I was able to move the locking mechanisms… Read more
to the sides using the side channels and now I can close all the sides on the tray. The channel system is brilliant. Quality looks very good. Very roomy. Overall seems very functional. My tray is 1800 wide so would be brilliant if they had a wider model.
Perfect slimline hard top rooftop tent – Tent is great quality, setup is fairly easy as long as you account for weight when installing it. Everything looks to be made from quality parts. The 5v led strip is great and has been moved into a fixed position in the center frame as opposed to the awning poles which is fantastic. Only grip with it is; - the latch mechanism seems half… Read more
engineered, there are pivoted bolts on each side and to get the clearance they are only done up slightly to give room for the latch to move, there must be a better way for this but it does the job still.
Overall super happy and impressed with this tent, it's lightweight for its class, super slim and comes with plenty of accessories and pockets.
SAN Hima rtt – Love this roof top tent Have slept in it 3 times . Very comfortable and easy to set up. although having nuts than can only be hand tightened to hold the tent to the roof rack is stupid. Had to replace these with nuts and spring washers. Show details
Highly recommend! – Highly recommend! It's incredibly convenient to set up, durable in all weather conditions.Nice roof top tent and great customer service!
Amazing to sleep in very comfortable – Is an amazing rooftop tent and love it but I didn’t seem to get the poles that connect the solar panel to the rooftop I’ve tried calling twice and left a message both times with no response Show details
Absolute beauty – After alot of research and looking at all kinds of tents, I decided on this beauty! I am so glad that I did, very easy install, 2 man lift onto a lifted MUX. Very very comfy, did add a mattress foam topper just for extra comfort. You can fit quilt and topper in no worries! The extra room is bloody unreal and the easy set up just makes it a dream.… Read more

The delivery time was great, 2 days delivered to my door.
Great tent, great service – Tent is great, plenty of room, good looking, easy to set up, plenty of features for the price point. Drove through very heavy rain with it closed and it was bone dry. Vic Offroad service couldn't be faulted, I ordered the tent on a Tuesday and had it by Friday, ready for a 4 day trip to Stradbroke Island. Show details
Solid RTT at a great price – Decided based off some videos i saw from trusted people online to give this tent a crack. My main comparison would be the Darche hardshell option that opens in the same manner. Pricewise, i think this tent is extremely competitive - and Vic offroad offered more discounts prior to purchase so very happy in that regard. the same applies to shipping,… Read more
obviously i was expecting a lengthy process given that it was freighted from Melbourne to FNQ (where i am), but again, the guys were very transparent and it arrived approx a week ahead of schedule, also around the time there was a cyclone impacting the Townsville area... Having not used the tent for its purpose yet (given that we are in the middle of the wet season) the review is based around my first impressions of the tent. All in all, very impressed with the build quality. The fabrics and stitching seem solid and i love the star gazing window, my only gripe with the interior is the lack of clear ipad/tablet pouch for watching movies but this is an extremely minor point that is easily remedied. The mattress appears to be quite comfortable, but i'm an easy pleaser in that department and yet to test it in real world camping. The overall look of the tent both packed and set up is quite appealing in my opinion. There is a feeling of more space when compared to the entry level san hima hardshell tent and similar A style ones, thanks to the forward frame set up. However, i do worry though what the tent will be like in wet weather given that there is no awnings surrounding the windows. We factored this in though when purchasing, since other reviews state this set up provides a much quieter nights sleep in windy conditions. Another positive that we've noticed is that the roof racks are supplied free with this tent which is a bonus. From memory they are an extra cost with the darche one. We also love the overall height of the tent, despite being taller than its cheaper sibling, at 200mm it really is a low sleek design that allows us to fit in our 2.3m car port with no issues. Finally, the weight drew us to purchase given that the website stated 70kgs (which would have been epic!), this is wrong, it is in fact 88kg, luckily we aren't close to GVM limits or that would have been an issue so bear that in mind if this hasn't been updated on the website. I would highly reccommend this purchase if your in the market for a value hard shell tent. In my opinion, its hard to see why its roughly over $1K cheaper than its rivals and we can't wait to get out and test is properly. It has to be said, we have used darche gear for years - big fans of the 180 eclipse awning and the panorama roof top tent, and again really good quality camping gear. Took us all over cape york with no issues and a further year of epic camping all over FNQ. Our upgrade was purely motivated by height issues in our new house and we had the darche hardshell RTT in our sights but the San Hima was too good a deal to miss.
We'll put another review up in 6 months once its had a good run in!
