Vehicle had 96 kilometres on the odometer when picked up new from dealer. Excessive? Very poor/unsafe low beam pattern - <10 meters illuminated when switched from high to low beam. Improved following a 276 kilometre round trip to a MYD service outlet - for a $100.00 fee! Show details
Follow-up · 1. When quired, sales team advised the >90 kilometres on the odometer was a result of "delivery milage". Hard to argue the point as I had to travel 176 kilometres to pick up the vehicle so needed the car at that time. 2. The $100.00 fee paid at the Launceston service centre was for an alignment check of the head lamps resulting in a "minor… Read more

BYD Sealion 6 - Serious Quality Concerns for a Brand New Car – My car went into for service at 3,500kms on Tuesday 18Feb. Next 3 days not much response. Apparently 3 recalls already and requires new shock absorbers. Really concerned about the quality of the China brand vehicle, never experienced this before. Service centre providing very poor customer service. Complained to BYD customer feedback and waiting to hear back. Show details
Sealion 6 & AP Eagers – Our advice, Consider a BYD if AP Eagers lose the BYD sales licence to a better dealership. AP Eagers - One star: Sales staff seemed disinterested. Communication regarding our order was poor. Our car "arrived but was taken by another dealership" We bought this car new, ordered online but was told to cancel the order when we were at the dealership… Read more
& create a new purchase order (I was later told this may have something to do with sales commission - don't know?). We noticed a series of small dents in one panel just days after the car arrived, AP Eagers said the car was inspected & none were apparent at sale (i.e. inferring its our fault). I took the car to a panel beater under the dealership instruction who said it's a dealership issue (he noticed 4 small dents in 1 panel, no indication of impact he suggested it most likely happened during transport/shipping, particularly given that the dents were in an area not considered an impact zone (e.g. couldn't be a shopping trolley)) We have had difficulty having the service manager contacting us (not available, on holidays, no call, no follow up etc - you know the deal/run-around) The windscreen wiper still vibrates as it has done since new, we've taken it back but; well check the video.
The car 4 star - Positives: Drives very well, it's a joy to drive, plenty of poke & easy to charge at the public chargers (& efficient - we get circa 100K range on battery) Very fuel efficient if regularly charged (we run circa 75% on battery) VERY quiet on the freeway Seating is very comfortable, there's loads of features, sound system is great.
Issues: Voice commands are regularly misunderstood, so much so we rarely use them (& EVERYTHING is meant to be controlled by voice) The windscreen wipers have vibrated since new (apparently these were 'fixed' at a recent service - see video below). Notably the service centre is a 1.5hr round trip. I find the NFC code on my mobile fails to open the car on about 1 in 5 occasions. The electronic charger supplied with the car seems to need to be reset (turned on & off) at least 1xper week. The car often won't pair with the charger otherwise. We have serious concerns given the dealerships poor service that if there's any future issues they will be unreliable.
Just do it – If I had my time again I would buy again in an instant. PROS: Outstanding value for money, excellent presentation inside and out, strong perceived build quality, smooth & quiet road manners, well-executed PHEV drivetrain, excellent tech. CONS: Panel fit could be better, suspension is soft and can get floaty on uneven roads at higher speeds, no memory available for driver's seat position, boot on the small side. Show details

Happy BYD - Sea Lion 6 2024 – My husband bought the AWD Sea Lion 6, only 3 days old, landed in Australia A few weeks ago. Beautiful, spacious and luxurious. Car bought under novated lease, FleetPlus were amazing, as well, to help us take advantage of the FBT benefits which ends Mar/April 2025. Great call from BYD to bring this Phev model to Australian market now, at such… Read more
good value for money. My husband was very happy with the BYD sales staff at Alexandria Sydney BYD, Alan was very helpful. This suits our family very much and look forward to driving it soon myself, although I'll take my time before I drive it, there's a lot to get used to. We opted to purchase the full after care package to protect the car and bought the dash camera BYD offered, as it's under the novated lease we want to look after this car. Shame about no spare tyre, but will deal with it . Speaking of tyres I do wish they were Bridgestone tyres or something similar, looking forward to when we get to change them. Sitting in the back is so roomy, I did at times feel slight bumps on the road from the back, but the pros definitely far outweighs the cons on offer. This is our first phev or environmentally friendly car we've owned. So feel good driving it. The car is very unpretentious and yet luxurious at the same time, without trying too hard. We've had a few heads turn as we drive by already. I do like the small badges at the rear of the car, BYD instead of the whole phrase, as well as the small badge on the left bottom rear of car, dmi-AWD. Looking forward to the karaoke function, we had to buy a separate microphone, the poor driver and passengers that have to put up with my bad singing lol. Love the automated sun roof cover, why didn't Tesla think of this ? And love how you can simply use voice command to do things without lifting a finger . I like to drive with the rear camera on while I'm getting used to the car as it's clearer to visualise compared to using the rear view mirror. There's still a lot of things Im still discovering with this car. It surprises me every time I get in the car . Stereo is decent, speakers bass, volume. So far it's been a great experience. Very happy customers here as well as teenage and adult kids love it too.
