different laptops, I ended up purchasing a ASUS ROG Strix G15 G512LW-AZ003T. What can I say about it... I am super happy with my purchase!

The laptop performs as promised. The frame rates in most of the games I have played are well above 100FPS although this is on the laptops 1080p screen.

The RGB around the keyboard does look really impressive but its not something I am into and have turned that setting off.

The internal storage and memory can be upgraded fairly easily if this is something that is of a concern when purchasing a gamin laptop.

The screen quality can seem a bit dull, but thats coming from using 4k monitors on my gaming pc at home which currently has a high end rtx 3000 series card. So I understand the 2070 does perform slightly less in comparison, but when on the road, I feel this is a pretty good sacrifice considering a high end gaming laptop will probably see you back a few 1000 more!

The only other issue has been the fans and the bottom of the laptop can get fairly hot under load, but if placed on a desk, I have not had any issues.

The build quality seems fairly impressive and even looks like its built from high quality materials.

Overall I am super happy with my purchase seeing as this is my back up computer for gaming when I am away on trips without compromising on performance and quality of gameplay without spending an arm and a leg to purchase either!

one we chose the ASUS.

After only a few days use, I am very happy. The keyboard is superb for typing on quickly. The size of the laptop and weight is good, though I understand the battery isn't huge. That's ok for us as we really wanted a portable computer and given the demands of gaming battery life is never great anyway.

The screen is superb. I've always preferred glossy screens before but this one is great for games. Pretty good for movies too!

As to gaming capability? I haven't tried anything too stressful on it yet, but the CPU and GPU should be fine with most with a sacrifice in quality. OK with that tradeoff given the price and portability. Surprisingly compact, with small bezels at the top and sides. A large bottom bezel raises the screen somewhat which is superb.

Port placement is good. Left hand side has the headphone jack and three USB. Rear has power, USB C, HDMI and ethernet. Right hand side is just the exhaust for what sounds like a powerful cooling system!

No camera. Delighted with that.

Lighting effects are good, cleanly designed and easy to turn on or off depending on if it is me gaming or the kids!

my laptop and desktop in one?

Using Cyberpunk 2077 as a benchmark, the performance on this vs my old machine is a whole new experience. The lighting and smooth FPS (combined with the 240hz display) was well above expectation and was noticeably different to my previous unit. With only a '2 generation' gap, the performance difference felt like a significant increase.

The keyboard on the Asus is soft yet responsive. Its such a nice balance, and the RGB while not needed, is a nice touch. One main concern I had on such a beast spec machine, was heat distribution. After hitting a few games on day one, its doing a bang up job. My previous laptop would almost get a 'hot to touch' keyboard after any heavy game was up and running. The G512, I can't find any significant hot spots on thus far.

Fan noise is to be expected given the power its outputting, but nothing a set of headphones can't eliminate. As a gamer, the 512gb SSD may come up a little short (Was rocking a 256 + 1tb previously) BUT, at its price point, I can't complain and it will just encourage me to focus on prioritizing games to play and finish, rather than just dumping my entire steam library on drive.

Rear facing HDMI/USB C, ethernet and power input is something people don't know they need. I really enjoyed the 'Dock style' port structure on my last unit, and praise the chassis design gods, this unit has a similar layout. the 3 left edge USB A ports makes complete sense to as to give your mouse hand complete freedom on the right hand side of the unit. Small touches like that really make a difference to me.

ASUS are offering a bonus for writing a review, but my integrity is worth a little more than a $60 set of headphones. I'm writing this review as I've always admired ASUS tech (was the go-to brand for components back in my PC building high school days) and they've never disappointed me. This laptop is no different. Running it at QHD on my desktop monitor, it's also quite capable. Will it replace a desktop? Performance wise, I'd say I'd rather this than, a desktop at the same price point. Is it practical to use this as a desktop? Well, that's a work in progress, but the 'Dock' style connection sure make it possible. All in all, great experience so far, and imagine will continue to be for years to come. Can highly recommend this unit.

Back to gaming and loving it! – I haven't gamed in a long time and i got this laptop as a Christmas present, im honestly loving it, its light and quiet, games look absolutely beautiful on the 240Hz screen, everythings so fast and fluent. Keyboard is very responsive, bit loud when under load but of course that's expected and i don't mind as long as its keeping temperatures low and extending the laptops life. Awesome laptop, very happy with it – Purchased it a week ago and im enjoying using it, my favourite games are all playing on highest graphics settings without any issues, fans are a bit loud on full load as expected but it keeps the laptop cool and keyboard isn't hot to touch which is very important when gaming and typing for a long time. me is a massive light leaking from the bottom corners of the screen. When you have a loading screen you can notice it easily and bothers me. Another thing I would improve is the case from the screen that is a bit fragile and if you try to open it from the corner you can perhaps damage the plastic frame. It could come with a Card Reader also as a plus. Besides the issues I totally recommend it.

coming from the keyboard and from under it is something fantastic! I mainly got this beauty to play video games and so far my two main ones, Dota2 and COD WARZONE, have just been amazing! I love the textures that the GTX 2070 offers and the job that it does together with the cORE i7 and the 240Hz from the screen. Still waiting to dig in to armour crate Cons: No numeric touch pad and thunderbolt which is disappointing. Not sure if any ways to activate it.No webcam and SD card slot which is not a big issue .
