Very deceitful and unpredictable. My electricity bill had been $300 - $350 for 3 months, then out of nowhere it's $614 now, nearly double, when my usage is still the same as before. lady Kylie who is higher up at Alinta. She said she would get back to me in 5 -7 working days, it didn't happen. That's when I sent my complaint to the Ombudsman. Today I received a call from a person from Alinta, Aaron and he told me that they don't know what rates I am on because I had a smart meter put in, in December and he did not know when I would get a bill. Then he told me their computers were not working properly and a lot of other excuses. My bill is usually in credit by $300 - $400 dollars or more. I am on 48c feed in tariff. I wonder if I would have a bill if I owed them money. Have just received an email from Alinta and it says I will get an update within 21 days. Now they won't answer my emails. My review on Product Review has been seen by 210 people, the longer it takes to do my bill the more people that will see my review.

Everything they promised and more – I got approached in our local shopping centre and we were just about to look at moving house. Our electricity bill with the previous provider was always between $700-$900 per month. Our bills came down dramatically I was shocked. Not only that everytime I phone them the staff are more than accommodating and helpful. I since have made the change to my business account also which has been just as great. Better ask your crystal ball for the best price – On February 3, 2025, alintaenergy will reduce the feed in for solar from 8 cents to 4 cents. Energy Made Easy still offers its plan with an annual contract with 8 cents/kWh solar upload. A call was pointless because they referred to the electricity provider's upload. I asked if they could at least remove this misleading advertising, I was told that the matter would be brought to the attention of the responsible supervisor. Until something happens, many customers will be ripped off. At least, it's not the first time that's happened to me.

have an owing amount on that same bill. I have been going back and forth with emailing them and I have also tried calling about it and all they keep telling me is that I have an owing amount. I have all the proof and evidence to back up my statement, that they just overlook. I did ask where my money for that specific bill went, I am waiting for a response (I keep you updated). Honestly, they have lost a loyal customer after this experience.

I must say however, in my experience at least, both Alinta and Origin customer agents gave me 5-star service in the time I was with them. Very prompt, polite and professional. They also knew their products.

As for customer usage tracking, Origin’s app was superb. Real-time data provided was fantastic for tracking usage and forecasting costs for budgeting. In this area, Alinta was so far behind it was hardly a speck on the horizon.

Now, Alinta has outdone themselves in rates - basically (and practically) supplying electricity at the maximum reference rates (See photos). Origin is also very expensive, so after comparing rates at energymadeeasy and counterchecking at WATTever, checking ProductReview and other review sites, I have switched to OVO Energy. Sign up was very easy, and I will review when I have experienced a few months supply.

Wrong Accusation of Account Overdue: On 19 Dec 2025, I received a bill from Alinta, the due date of which is 14 Jan 2026. On 6 Jan 2026, I received another bill from Alinta, the due date of which is 28 Jan 2026. The second bill says in red colour, "Overdue - pay now". See attached screenshots of the bills. Show details

since moved to Amber and love their transparency and app where you can see the rates. The real kicker? Got a bill from Alinta with a new charge of $71.00 for 7 days.

They are over the top in their charges. More than happy to see the back of them. Just need to switch to another gas company too.

And since we cancelled our account they have marked the previous bill as overdue, even though not due until 26.02. Disgusting service.

phoned them and they dropped fee. They said their site had a warning about fee. I didn’t see it. It was well hidden as I’m very careful . If I’d joined by phone they said I would have verbally been informed of fee. There is no way I would have joined Alinta if I’d been told about an application fee. And I’ve never been charged one by any other gas provider. And I’ve been with them all in WA.

Heads up check small print before signing up.

 Follow-up  · I got a credit for the $45. I complained it wasn’t evident when I joined. No idea if it is now. But check before joining and check your first invoice.

Zero stars, I moved house to granny flat 2 mnths they took to.correct turning off the main house supply and connect mine, moved again and they tried to charge me when I have no fees, just moved again 5years of them, 3 mnths in and they have not connected my gas not called me back or respond to emails regarding this... y'all lost a customer! Show details

Mr. Dutton has claimed people are paying $1300.00, now he doesn't say if that is a month or for twelve months, if it is a month then the home is in crises and a good hard look at their usage should take place, I it is for 12 months then I find that very reasonable. them very professional, with their billing it is right every time and the lay out is good and litigable, also the cost of the supply is very reasonable. They also engage in discounted sales of extended companies, these are wonderful for the city dwellers, but country folk would need to travel to the city to take advantage of these offers. In my time I've been with many providers of electricity, and never been really happy with them, but Alinta Energy has made me very happy indeed, keep up the good work guys. Raymond.

just completely exceeded my expectations.

I was expecting a standard payment plan set at whatever amount their computer system came back as, but instead I was asked how much I could reasonably pay / how often. The system did come back and say that the amount was lower than it wanted so I was transferred to the specialist department. This is where all of my expectations were exceeded.

First of all, I was put through to a lovely lady who was easy to understand and explained things very clearly. She put through the payment plan at my affordable rate without any issue at all, explained my current energy plan to me and what all the different charges were for and then checked to see if there was a cheaper plan for me to be on.

After checking that I was on the cheapest plan, she came back and explained that if I entered into their financial hardship program that she would be able to put me on a cheaper plan again that is not available to the public, fantastic. I was expecting to have to provide all the proof of financial hardship that companies usually ask for, but there was none of that. Just a short recording explaining all of the details and terms and a quick yes as the end.

After listening and agreeing to the recording she came back again, confirmed that my payment plan and new plan rate had all been set up and went on to explain that under their hardship plan they also do payment matching where every dollar I pay they will match. I was then given the direct number and email address for her specialist department, to which she said I could contact at any time if I need to change the payment plan amount.

A lot of thank you’s from me and I was off the phone within 20 minutes.

emailed to question it and got no response. The only communication I received was a warning that if I didn’t pay, it would be sent to debt collectors. No accountability. No clarification. installed. Asked for current billing (quarterly) be left in place and not changed to monthly. Person at meter team department said that this could only be requested after meter installed and probably after first monthly bill. Asked what charges were if meter is read (the notice informed us extra charges would apply if we requested no remote access to meter to Alinta). Meter team member had no idea. Asked if plan would change, they said “oh no you are on that plan for two years!”. That’s news to us. So now we have to wait for meter to be installed (currently some time during a future week, nothing specific) and be ready to call them and repeat everything once again. Why can’t something simple like this be resolved through their app or online? Why is the meter team ignorant of Alinta’s meter policies?

behind the excuse that they are “investigating.”

The hypocrisy is unbelievable — if you owe them money, they harass you relentlessly with calls, texts, and emails. But when they owe YOU money, suddenly there’s no urgency, no accountability, and no competence.

This has been an incredibly frustrating and stressful experience. The customer service is appalling, the communication is useless, and the way they handle customers’ money is concerning. I would strongly recommend people stay far away unless you enjoy chasing your own money for weeks.

I accepted Alinta’s offer to move from my Original for $100 account credit. I decided to stay with Origin when they matched it. Alinta sent me bill for $59 for two weeks gas, all except $1.39 we’re fees and the $100 credit not applied.When I spoke to a very polite Customer Service Officer she advised that the $100 credit was forfeited because I remained with Origin although all set up fees were to remain. Show details

unable to confirm this as your distributor may not enter your premises if they feel a dog is on the property or is unrestrained.

It is not the presence of a dog the readers flag. It is if the dog is restrained or not. If the dog restraint can be confirmed.

The response inaccuracy shows Alinta CSO staff do not appreciate the distinction between a dog on site and a dog restrained. The distributor state categorically if the dpg restraint is confirmed they will enter the property. Do your research properly Alinta. You lost my business.

Alinta Energy started out competitively priced, but at the first opportunity at six months the rates increased sharply, forcing a negotiation. At that point, leaving is easier than staying. The lack of automated credit card payments is baffling. I use this for cashflow and points and, as a result, I have had four late payments after more than a decade without any.

The app is also ineffective and offers little practical value.

money hungry company. Uses overseas call centres which makes it even harder as unfortunately English is not their first language. They don’t have enough training as they don’t know how to read a bill. I had to explain it over and over. They just read from a screen and say “I understand”, yet sadly, they don’t.
