Good – well its served me well, bought when first out on market, so that's at least four years, just starting to have a few errors, could be the purge unit i'm reading on the web about. generally i've only ever bought canon printers and never had and problems, first printer i've still got but it does n't work anymore the good old bj230 b&w unit, did thousands of a4 & a3 prints, second printer still got and its still as good as ever, print head been replaced once it a s4500 colour A3 unit. hopefully mp780 will be the same, i've ordered it's first new print head today. i think the key is to keep em clean, check em regular, keep the dust and sun out, look after them and they'll look after you reasonable price, compact size, good quality print & fax for the dollars, basically all i use for, oh and a4 photcopier
scan only occationally, been with me a while now menu operation, a little heavy, does eat the ink, but i'm a drafting service, so ultimately the business pays for the ink, so cant complain
Terrible – It always display 'clear paper jam' when there is no paper. We open and inspect it thoroughly for any paper. None. Yet it still says paper jam, it won't even say where the paper is. Complicated, messy, lousy printer... All in one printer Not user friendly. Lots of errors. Unreliable.
Excellent – It runs on low or high speed port with out any problems even though it tells you its running through a low speed port evey time you turn it on. I used it for photographic restoration and the clarity with the scanner is excellent. Print quality is great and the lcd screen telling you how much ink is left is a bonus. Fax and copy just easy enough my kids could operate it Easy to setup and use If you touch the paper too soon after printing it sometimes smudges otherwise no problem
Bad – mine broke down in a little more than a year. printhead died and the unit doesn't even turn on any more. i don't know if i should shell out 50 dollars for the head (which in itself is nothing short of a rip off) or just throw this junk away. This is my second canon gone bad and i think my last because i will never buy a canon printer again. all in one heavy top, eats ink like there is no tomorrow, horrible menu, unreliable, very heavy.
Bad – I have had the mp780 for about two years. It worked OK for about 6 months then the print head failed. Canon replaced the print head under warranty. The second print head went bad just after the warranty expired and now the thing isn't worth the price of a replacement, about 50 to 60 bucks. I also have an HP all in one which isn't great but at least it still works. Buy something else. quiet, fast, good print quality, ease of use controls unreliable, difficult navigation, tools don't work, overall bad product
