Shindaiwa T262 trimmer: A well made machine – I noticed on Product Review that the Shindaiwa T260X gas powered trimmer has been reviewed. It features a 24.1cc 2 stroke engine. This specific model is not offered here in Canada. We thus have the T262. It is the latter I acquired and will be reviewing. the house. After searching the Net for specification and reviews, I went to the nearby Shindaiwa dealership, the same that provided me with a 502 chainsaw and an 804 backpack leafblower. A usual Honda product fan, I did not went further with their heavier 4 stroke engine trimmer.

The T262 is also available in the T262X version that can be blade equipped but at the expense of being about 1.5 lbs heavier due to a bigger guard, hardware for the blade and antikickback bar on the handle. I decided for the first of the two since the considered tasks involve grass and light brushes most of the time. For the very occasional heavier chores, I will rely on rental.

The Shindaiwa T262 is powered by a 25.4cc 2 stroke engine that starts easily with the help of a primer bulb, choke and recoil starter. Fuel mix is 50:1.The weight of the machine is very well distributed, making for a well balanced tool that exert no undue strain on the operator. Noise level at full throttle renders use of auditive protection necessary. For short periods of time, at mid throttle, it is possible to do without. The machine easily cuts through grass, thick grasslike vegetation and light brush, the latter at the expense of the occasional few inches of string. Maintenance is easy and straightforward and the cutting head spool is easy to refill with 0.095 string. I am using twisted string that came with the machine and will be trying round string later on.

I am very satisfied with the machine so far and recommend it without hesitation.
