Sleek design, detachable base, and plenty of frothy milk – There are not many milk frothers that will froth 250ml of milk (enough for two cups of coffee). I've owned the Sunbeam one for a number of years, and now I've found this Westinghouse frother that also does 250ml. Both also have detachable base motors. The Sunbeam has been great, but a little bulky and some issues with the mixer spindle inside the… Read more

jug which I fixed. But now this new Westinghouse has turned up. The design is very sleek. The motor base detaches. The milk jug will foam 250ml of milk - just (don't go over the line inside). Definitely if you leave the lid off so it doesn't contact the rising foam. I've only had the Westinghouse for a month, but it is producing reliable, firm, fine scoopable foam. I'll be interested to see how it performs in a year. There are a couple of things to be aware of (assuming mine doesn't have a minor fault). The selector sensor-touch button which allows you to choose hot frothy milk; or cold; or no froth; or chocolate milk, is not very sensitive. Sometimes I touch the button multiple times to get it going. It has a short time delay so you can cycle around. When you stop touching the button, the machine will then start after a further short delay. And then, the first time I used it, I thought it was having a meltdown what with all the noises coming out of it - sort of like a car grinding its gears (maybe not quite that loud). I now know it does the same thing every time, so not a fault. It has a range of mixing actions at the start, then settles down to quiet stirring towards the end - and when it finishes - hot milk and heaps of lovely foam. If you want No Froth, you use the same mixing disc (other machines need the solid disc). The mixing noises are different, and the end result is hot milk with no foam at all. So, without foam, you could probably heat more milk at once (just watch out how high the milk goes up the side during the slower stirring). So, at this point, I love it. Hopefully it will still be going strong for a few years.

Update 17 December 2025. The frother is still going strong (touch wood) and not one failed frothing of milk. Re the touch button. It wasn't long before the touch button worked for every press. It's almost like it has now recognised my finger and is happy to get to work immediately. Re the stirrer disc. When you put it back on the spindle after cleaning, give a firm push downwards as it can sit up on the spindle and look okay, but come off when in use. The disc has never come off after making sure it is pushed all the way down. It feels like a detent as you push down. No other issues to report. Still very happy with it. I always pour in the maximum amount of milk according to the line inside, and leave the lid off to stop any overflow due to froth touching the lid.
