Bought as I've only been using a cheap stick vacuum cleaner. I wanted something to pickup cat fur and give a better clean. Emptying it was also easy. Though as I thought I was returning it, I gave it a thorough clean which isn't quite so easy. Took about 15 minutes to clean.
Is quite bulky also and doesn't manoeuvre as I'd hoped it would.
Overall, for carpet a definite yes I would say it's great. Tiles, not so good. (My opinion only - would suit a larger home, to give a really good workout.)
Unfortunately I'm unable able to use it as well as I'd hoped as it's a bit heavy for me to push.
I didn't realise that I couldn't get a refund if unhappy with the product. I've never had trouble returning an item that has been unsuitable for me to use.
Now I'm stuck with an item I will have to try and sell, to get maybe half or less than what I paid.
I gave it 4 stars as it does pickup dust/ fur and dirt etc. But 1 star for not being able to return for at least something more suitable and at most - my money back.

It sucks, really well! Powerful suction and the best feature is a self cleaning brush roll that works. We have long haired pets and long haired humans and my old Shark vacuum was always getting hair wrapped around the roll that took some effort to clear. holds a lot of dust/dirt and is easy to empty. Our old Shark has gone to the office because it's still working well after 6 or more years. I'll stick with Shark and I highly recommend this vacuum.

Amazing suction! – The suction is as one would expect from any Shark product - THE BEST. keep in mind that it is NOT a lift away model, so if you plan to vacuum underneath the sofa or beds, this vac may be too bulky and the attachment to vacuum underneath couches may be out of stock and hard to find. Also, it is on the heavier side. The canister is a good, bigger size and the cord is a good length of 25ft. In saying that, the cord CAN get in the way at times, but just wrap around the handle and problem solved.
Base caught fire – 14 months in from purchase and the base of this thing caught fire (i was using the hose on curtains at the time!), huge amounts of smoke and flames - disconnect from power and it still burning - have to soak in shower to stop the flames :/ No store warranty (over 12 months), will never buy another Shark product again, was scary! Shark was an easy decision in the end.
We're very happy with this purchase and for the price tag it comes with, more than worth it! I would highly recommend it, it fluffs the carpet and can be used on floor as well. It has no issues cleaning up hair and keeps the roll clean. Attachments are a huge plus and I haven't had any problem reaching anywhere around my house, laundry or car.
Wouldn't think twice before buying or gifting. No issues or complaints!
10 out 10 - Excellent Vacuum – I use this on vinyl plank flooring as well as high cut pile carpet that is dense and holds a lot of dirt and dust and this vacuum powers through with no issues at all, I love this so much that I bought a second vacuum for my retail flooring shop and tell everyone about it. Excellent Upright Vacuum Cleaner for the Price – After toing and throwing on whether to get and upright or cordless stick vacuum cleaner I am now very happy I purchased the Shark Navigator Pet with Self Cleaning Brushroll. It is very versatile on hard floors ie tiles and floating floor boards and carpet. Very impressed with the suction as well. Would Recommend
