Britax has updated their Maxirider easy adjust – Original post: Fabric pills and pulls after a few months use - our seat is looking like its 10 years old at only 18months. Such poor design, I clean our seats once every three months and my children only eats biscuit in them and there's a design flaw where food will accumulate in the poly foam and inhabit mould - I contacted Britax only to be… Read more

turned away saying it's not covered under warranty and that I will need to pay $25.50 for replacement.

The harness straps are temperamental and will sometimes adjust when weighted but most times it won't budge. (Everyone I know has the same problem, their seats gets sent away for months to be readjusted only to have the same problem again a few months later)

The foam my son sits on also moves to the back so only half his bottom is on it.

UPDATE: Britax has since posted out replacement fabric and im glad to say that they have listened to their customers and have updated the seat trim with 'furry' fabric where the child sits that wont age, pill or pull like the original :)

My seat is one of the first released 'lemons' back in 2013 that SnS are replacing with new High markers Terrible fabric, design flaw inhibits mould, foam moves all over the place

Fantastic! – We have had this seat for a few weeks now & we're loving it! We have it reclined, as our son is 9 months & refuses to rear face. The recline is fabulous, it sits at a perfect angle in our car, sits in the centre which is great because a lot of them won't with the shape of the hatch seat in our Mazda. It's easy to get him in and out & he finds it… Read more

super comfy, great as we frequently take long trips. He sits perfectly to nap, no head lolling at all. I love the easy adjust for the straps, no more having to pull the seat in and out! Plus it has a long enough tether strap that we didn't need an extension for our hatch. Really easy to pop his arms through and to clip up and out. The only thing that detracts is the clip padding that keeps the clip falling forward comes out a bit but it's easy to pop back in & still not as annoying as my old one! Very happy with our purchase! Perfect recline, comfortable padding, easy to adjust seat height & straps Clip padding comes out sometimes.

Amazing innovation! – I bought the previous model Maxirider AHR in January 2011 and I love the features of the model. The speakers, the head support, cup holders, all seemed great for my toddler. At the time, I thought it was the best seat on the market for safety and features. Earlier this year, I was upset when I found out that I wouldn't be able to purchase the… Read more

same seat for my younger daughter. I was very pleased when I discovered there was a new model available just as I needed it. The features of this model just continue to amaze me.

It truly is easy adjust and I could quite happily have one in our second car and would be able

to fit either of my children with a very minor tweak. The seat has a slightly different profile, it's a bit narrower and I think the head rest sits a bit higher. The upper anchorage strap is also tweaked slightly which I think makes it a bit easier to attach.

The reason I am writing this however, is because of the ease with which you can remove the cover to clean it. I have taken both seats apart today and the old one was fiddly, mainly with the detaching and threading of straps, with the easy adjust, you undo about 4 elastic loops, unclip 4 snaps, and the cover peels straight off!

I love this seat, my only regret is that I don't have two the same! reputation for safety, ease of use, attractive I would love an isofix version

Such a great seat! – This seat I found to be the best seat. So many things to like about it. Material soft. Has arm rests which can go up or down. Has cup holders. Has speaker cable. Lasts for 8 year old. I found the seating position great and easy to put a child into.

Great seat but should have an option for rear facing – This is overall a great seat. Lots of safety features. Easy to install. However England recently has done a trial having children rear facing till 4 years old and it greatly reduced death rate to near 0. Therefore I would like that this seat were able to face rear as well.  Show reply

Great for forward facing baby up to about 5/6 years – If I had my time again I would select a dedicated (space saving?) rearward facing infant restraint followed by the Maxi Rider when they could face forward. (The Meridian AHR steals a lot of room from the front seats in a medium car when facing backwards) The boys loved the comfort and the AHR (I refer to it as "A Head Rest") really assisted… Read more

sleeping. The "lean back" feature was used only for long trips and I agree that in upright mode you can get a bit of "head rolling forward" action when they fell asleep.

I have changed over to the Hi-Rider SG as the boys found using the standard seat belt annoying to connect/disconnect from the high position of the Maxi. Technically you could continue to 7/8 if they're in the right car but the seats are a bit narrower in my Passat Wagon. I would happily pass them on to a friend.

Love the seat, the fabric hasn't lasted and looks tatty – The seat is brilliant. Its comfortable for my larger than average 2.5 year old. Its easy to install and to adjust the height of the straps with out any hassle or fiddling about- takes about 5-10 seconds to change the height. The drink bottle holders are an excellent feature too. The child does not slump forward while sleeping as the seat had a… Read more

tilt recline.

I have been using this seat since December 2013.

I was terribly disappointed with Brixtax Australia after I contacted them in July via email as the fabric around the leg section is pilling and was advised i can repurchase a new cover for $150. A new child car seat could be purchased for less than that...

I expected a quality fabric on the seat to last for more than 1 1/2 years as the seat is supposed to cater until the child reaches 8 years old.

??? – I find when I put the clips in the buckle if I put the left side in first it doesn't lock in but if I put right in first it locked. Husband just put our daughter in and I turned around and left side was undone. How can I get a replacement? Can I replace buckle myself?

Poor design of the head phones in the head rest – I am disappointed with the rattle coming from the head phones in the head rest. I solved the problem with some blue tag. If that does not work, I shall just cut off the poorly installed head phones and throw them away. I do not see why those head phones are needed at all. I have a great SUV with great sound system. That rattle drove me mad till I fixed up the rattle!!! Rattle from the poorly designed head phones.

Best seat – We have had this seat since my daughter was facing forward at 10 months and it is the best seat. Super comfortable. She is now 7.5 yrs old and the child restraints still fit her. However her shoulders isjust above the line and its diappointing that we cane boost the head bit up higher to get another 6 months out of it. Its says till 8yrs old and… Read more ·  1

shes not the tallest yr old around shes average height so this would definitely not fit a taller child . Unless im missing something on extending the height?

Overall its a brilliant seat though.

very happy – A good reliable brand of child seat. It appears to be as comfortable as a child restraint could be. We take the seat in and out of the car regularly with ease and is quit a quick process to do. Like any thing spending the bit extra money is definitely worth it.  Show reply

Amazing seat – I have owned this seat for almost 2 years now and I love everything about it, the cup holders, the arm rests, the easy adjust etc. I recently started having issues where the harness is difficult to tighten and release, like it's getting stuck on something. It is absolutely sh*t that britax discontinued this seat, I was intending to purchase one for my second child and the maxi lite just doesn't cut it.

Perfect from 6 months – I've owned 2 for 2.5years (Feb 2014). They're so easy to install, there's just 2 pieces of material (attached to each other) to manouvour around to get the cars seat belt on. Super easy to adjust for another child or as my children grow. Washing it has been simple and I've managed to machine wash it. My kids have been from 6months to 5.5 years and… Read more

at all times have been comfy. It has all the bells and whistles like speakers in the head rests, 2 cup holders, adjustable arm rests. I've also owned 2 hipod Milan and a steelcraft capsule, but from washing to comfort to safety, I prefer the Safe and Sound Maxi Rider AHR Easy Adjust.

We love this car seat. Much better than the Meridian – We had the Meridian AHR tilt and adjust for our first child and she never seemed to fit in it properly. Her head was never within the side impact cushions if the belt was fitted correctly. This seat is much better thankfully as my daughter actually fits and the belt is easier to tighten.

Comfortable and very good value for money – This is the second Maxi Rider AHR seat I have bought in the last 4 years. The first one is still working for my older son. I compared different products in the market and found this seat comfortable, safe, very good age range coverage and good value for money. Great for toddlers and older – I have two of these seats, I'm really really impressed with how long my older daughter has been able to stay in the harness. She's about to turn 7years old and is only just on the line for moving into the booster mode. She is in the 85% for height. On the other hand this really isn't a seat for a 6 month old. I tried my younger child in this seat… Read more ·  1

once she reached 6 months old and she was well under the marker for use. We are still using her Unity Capsule at almost 17 months as we like to rear face for as long as possible.

It's a shame that the manufacture isn't able to make a clearer statement about this seat's suitability. It's only through research that I've become more informed - not every parent has the time, or inclination to do the research - most will want to purchase a seat that says it will do what it is marked to do.

Best Ever – I have had a few car seats with my children but when I had these I knew they would be worth it they do everything and worth every penny they should be the only ones for sale I would recommend this seat they so easy to clean and protect the seat in the car and the cup holders the way the Kids sit comfy in this seat and we travel a lot it's great

Great car sear – I have a large toddler and found this seat to be very comfortable for him. It is very easy to install and adjust. I love that the seat handles can be moved up or down. Makes getting him in easier. I have found it easy to clean as well as my toddler is fairly messy too.

Good but not perfect – I was having great difficulty in adjusting the harness for quite some time and it just got worse up to the point where the harness would not tighten at all. SNS organised for me to take it to a local repair agent to replace the harness thread with a thinner one and since then I haven't had a problem. It was fixed on the spot by the repair agent… Read more

and I got an appointment the next day so I was very happy with their level of service.

Hugest downfall is the fabric. After no more than 10 washes (delicate cycle) it is literally falling apart at the seams (the seams that sit underneath the thighs and the elasticised loops that the arm rest goes through). I have a SNS Meridien that is twice the age of the easy adjust and the fabrics Are still in fantastic condition. I think I will need to purchase another seat fabric very soon.

I have two of these for my boys 2 & 3 – Bought 2 of these seats for my boys 2.1 year old and almost 3.5 year old as they were rated highly in Australian safety testing plus they are very comfy, my baby falls asleep as soon as we start driving. And they are so easy to install. I highly recommend them. Driving use to be screaming now its comfort and sleeping!

Good seat but it squeaks! – I bought this for my incredibly tall 2yr old. She's getting a bit big for her Meridian. It's great, my daughter likes it but there is a squeak in the headrest when she's not in it. It's driving me insane. Obviously her weight/position means the squeak disappears when she is in her seat. its incredibly frustrating.

Really Happy! – I purchased the old Maxi Rider for my eldest son and it never skipped a beat. Just recently I purchased this seat for my 6 month old. So far I'm really happy. Love that it has heaps of padding, reclines and that the harness can be adjusted without taking out of the car. So far I haven't noticed any problems with the material.

Love the easy adjust harness – I love how easy it is to change from having a small child to a bigger child without taking the seat out to mess around with straps :) only disappointing thing is the fabric I have noticed pulled threads after just a week :( & the slot for the straps at the bottom has a big gap for food etc to fall into.  Show 5 replies

Great car seat – As the name says easy to adjust (even with child sitting in seat) and sits child nicely reclined so no head flop when they fall asleep (from about 1yr old I found). Seat has its own recline function but we still put a foam under it for a tight fit with our car. Fits nicely in our larger car. In built speakers, cup holders and arm rests. Easy to… Read more

Love this seat, wish I bought it first up! – I have gone through 3 car seats in two years, but finally found the one that makes life easy. Being really open at the side makes it easy to get a heavy toddler into an SUV, the lower height of the seat means he is not kicking the back of the front seat, and the ability to hold the straps to the side with the fold able armrests is genius. Its… Read more

Best Car Seat Ever! – Best Car seat! I don't have a single complaint. Easy to fit, easy to adjust, very comfortable, good quality! I have recommended it to all my friends with babies. The only downside is it does not suit from birth. But that suited me as I used the strider capsule up until 6 months and then purchased this seat. Easy to fit, easy to adjust, very comfortable, good quality does not suit from birth

Great seat but speaker- meh – The seat is so easy to install and use. It has wonderful accessories and the safety aspects are fab. But, the speakers..... we just (today) purchased it and the speakers are so low- he can hardly hear anything. :( We travel a lot and the speakers were a buying point for us. Easy to use and safe Speakers are too quiet

Amazing! Best car I've ever bought! – I am so very happy with this car seat! I bought it for my 2 year old who absolutely loves it! We upgraded from the Safe n sound lifestyle. some of the reviews. And I am not at all worried about the fabric as my seat has warranty until 2018! (I have read a lot of reviews complaining about pulling in the fabric etc.) But in saying that I've had my seat for a week and the fabric is still in great condition. We look after our seat very well no eating in it and wash the cover when it's needed. I got the caramel colour and love it. Just can't recommend it enough! I have another on Layby for my youngest son 8.5months for when he turns 1 and we can't wait to get it off Layby! One of the best purchases we have ever made.

Good Quality Seat – I like the new design, but it has some flaws. The easy adjust isn't really easy at all. Mine has taken some force to move up and down. They say it is easier to install because the seatbelt goes through the centre of the seat, not the back. Nope, it's harder. You have to flip up and unclip material, then the seatbelt itself extends and pushes the… Read more

lining forward. I found it a lot more difficult to install than my SnS Meridian tilt n adjust. Comfort wise, my daughter has enjoyed sitting in the seat. At 3 and a half, she tells me it is very comfortable. I like that this seat goes from 6 months to 8 years - I spent the extra money so I didn't have to purchase another seat later down the track. The material is the type that gets dust settled all over it and it feels a little cheapish, which is a shame. Overall, a great seat with a few minor flaws. Looks stylish, comfortable design, secure Not easy to install, material feels cheap and dust sticks to it, hard to adjust up and down

Best car seat I have brought – Just bought 2 weeks ago and was so easy to put in the car witch is a very good thing because it can go from nan and pops car to mine in less 5 minutes best choice i have ever made haven't used the speakers yet but think she will love them if I had an extra 400 dollars i would buy one for my 3 and a half son the fact it goes for 6 months to 8 years

Disappointed for price paid – After owning an AHR meridian I thought upgrading to the Maxi Rider for my toddler would have been best decision but boy was I wrong!
