I got a PowerGuard protector today but found it is emitting a continual high pitched sound. Has anyone else had a similar problem?

How do I know for sure that my Powerguard unit is working correctly? It appears to be OK but am having trouble with computer shutting down completely, usually when on internet. The UPS is not the issue as batteries were just replaced. Just cannot work out what is happening.

The light is out on my Powerguard but connected devices are still working. Is it still protecting?

Yes as the LED is not linked to any sort of protection for the board. If you are still concerned you could take it back to where you bought it or ring powerguard to get a replacement.

Thanks Wolfgang. I rang shop where I bought it and guy said it would not be protecting (although he didn't sound that sure!). Anyway I'm taking it back just in case as it has a lifetime guarantee, light did go out after we'd had a massive thunderstorm, and Internet seemed to be dropping out much more than usual, which is not happening since I disconnected it.
