its set to dehumidify. Settings include auto (keeps it at a set temperature), dry (dehumidify - the current favourite setting), cool, and heat (I haven't used this yet). The remote is very easy to operate - it also has a timer on/off and shortcut function. The unit comes with a short plastic hose to drain the water when using the dehumidify function. Its perfect for draining into a bucket but for continuous draining youd be best to head to your local hardware store for a longer hose to drain outside. The window kit is easy to install and due to some excellent design the air hose attaches much more securely than my previous unit did. This portable air conditioner has been used every night since I purchased it from Appliances Online.
