My eu20i generator shut down mid use. Oil and fuel all good. Cannot restart. What would you suggest?
Without looking at it personally I can only suggest get Honda to look at it or dial a tech minded friend. There are 100's of issues to consider here? Age of unit. Fuel used, run cycles, loads applied etc. Ps never risk damage to a premium product from unskilled wanna be mechanics!!
The same happened to mine. Repair shop put in a new plug and cleaned out the carby. They said the carby contained red dust and muck from its previous years of use.
my idle jet (the black plastic one under the idle screw) has no hole like i:ve seen on utube is this correct tried a small wire probe but there is no hole, just solid plastic
I drained my 20i after the last cyclone season, I have refilled it with premium until but it won’t start with and without using the choke Won’t even splutter, all hints welcome Cheers John
Replace and gap the spark plug (Denso or NGK); keep meticulously pulling (yes, even 50 or more times!) to restart (with choke off). If the cord locks you are pulling too fast. These things are such poor starters (even with electronic ignition) when they get a few years on I wouldn't frig around with the old plug (I didn't do this with mine as it was a hire job, lol).
what voltage drop on load is acceptable on honda eu22i. Mine drops 10% on 2000W load. Is this OK. Paddy
Yep I Would accept that as a reasonable drop. I reacon that would be an acceptable percentage drop at the top end of its capacity.
Hi, I have an EU20i and it has worked fine. I connect it direct to the house via an installed plug. Recently I used it again while Energex was working on powerlines nearby, (Queensland). Co-incidently it was after we had air con installed and I did turn it off and the main switch, however the overload warning light comes on now after one house light turns on for about 15" or so, then off. Anyone have a solution to this. Thanks.
Hi guys. My unit (eu20i) has been sitting for a while. Serviced today and motor running sweet but have no power outlet light on ( will not produce power). Pulled covers off to inspect for possible loose or damaged wiring but all seems ok. Any suggestions appreciated

Hi Guys, I intend to purchase and connect a 240V input /12volt output Smart battery charger to my Eu20i backup generator. Given that the output is 1.6kVA in Eco mode, what is the largest charger (output in amps) that I could connect without overloading the Honda??. I'm thinking of purchasing a 240V/12v 23Amp output VictronEnergy battery charger. I'd prefer to purchase a charger with a higher 12v-30amp output but question the ability of the Honda 20i to support it. FYI the boat has 6x 12v/90ah AGM batteries = 540ah battery bank.
The 12V charger isn't 100% efficient at converting between voltages. My 8 amp 12V charger is about 85% efficient. If we assume that scales up linearly, then you should be able to run a 98 amp 12V charger off the Eu20i.
That would be right on the line though -- it would be safer to aim a bit lower, say 80 amps @ 12V
When using the EU20i connected to my computer and screen, the screen bounces around and contains interference lines . Is there any device that can be linked into the system to eliminate this issue or is there a problem with the generator?

i have a honda 20i inverter generator the thing runs for 5 to 20 mins then cuts out any help appreciated on how to fix
it dpends on how many hours its run for,how often its serviced,could be spark plug,air cleaner dirty,oil level low.
went good for bout 18 months then nothing but trouble would not buy another one i bought a kings 3,5 for 389.00 and it does a better job
was a batch with a sparkplug cap made from Carbon would cuase cutouts and rough running replace the spark plug cap

Why is there petrol coming out of the bottom of the bottom of the generator when I am cranking it?. I haven’t used it for four years but I wintered it before putting it on the shelf.

Shouldn't be happening, possible causes : 1. Leaving choke on for too long and flooding the engine while attempting to start. 2. Carburetor flooding due to stuck needle valve or dirt in the carby fuel bowl. 3. Drain screw on the bottom of the Fuel Bowl not tightened. 4. Fuel bowl seal faulty.
The floater in the carburetor is not working properly. Take it apart and remove the rust out of the pan - see if it still can work for you. Leaving gas in the generator, even for less than 6 months can stop the carburetor from doing its job. The pin (Rubber end) and the seat need to be cleaned and also the balance pin. Use a good spray and blow all the channels open. Put together and let it run. Thank me later.
Hi I’m in the process of buying a second hand one but the outer casing are crap and the starter cord has cut into the casing can I buy new covers for it
Yes all parts are available including the outer case, but the s/h one needs to be cheap as the cases are expensive...
