Arnotts Granita Biscuits

down hill – slowly reducing the amount of product I buy from Arnotts, all have had recipes changed, made smaller and thinner, all the small pin pricks in some of the biscuits have all been made larger thus reducing the amount of product... they should never had sold the company into foreign hands !! down hill ever since !!

Best Australian "graham cracker" substitute, this is what you want for cheesecake crust! – If you want to make a New York style cheesecake, Key Lime pie, s'mores etc. and you live in Australia then Granita is what you want. It is the nearest thing to a "graham cracker" I've been able to find in Australian supermarkets. Many US ex-pats would say the same. Ignore the haters - I've been buying Granita for years, and have noticed no discernible change in the recipe, or quality of the biscuit. Show reply
We love our Granita Biscuits – Granita Biscuits are to have with coffee. We often add a little butter/marg and a drop of strawberry jam. Only seem to be able to buy them from IGA in our area.
Great Granitas! – I’ve only just discovered Granita biscuits and I love them! They go beautifully with a cup of coffee. Now I find them hard to find on the shop shelves and wonder if they are being discontinued ☹️
Negative reviews
Arnott's not worth a crumpet – there is not one Arnott's product which has not shrunk in size and changed in taste the granita biscuit in particular - I avoid all their products now as no longer worth the money - this company is taking everyone for mugs
Wrecked biscuit – You have ruined Granite biscuits not worth buying anymore also you removed Lattice biscuits and for home bakers these two biscuits are irreplaceable. How about talking to the public before changing or deleting range
You have wrecked was a good biccy – Bought a packet a couple of years ago, & they (granita) were tasteless cardboard, dog biscuits even, except the dog probably wouldnt eat them.the internet was alive with bad comments, some women saying that they stopped using them for cheese cake base they were that bad. We tend to get Aldi digestives, same style as granita but taste a lot better… Read more
than your new "flavoured" granitas. I'm 66 , & honestly as kids in late 50's , 60's & 70's we'd scoff granitas till the cows came home, beautiful flavour, especially with butter on. You did something to them a few years ago, & it wasn't good. If it ain't broke dont fix it. As i said i haven't touched them since & if you've returned to the old recipe, I'd get them again, but I'm not buying a pack to find out.regards Eric.

Don't change what was already a great biscuit. Ki – Nice packaging. Prices have inflated. The chocolate covering is much thinner. The Granita biscuits are made with refined white sugar and no longer brown sugar so taste very sweet and actually are too sweet. The upgrade is a disappointment.
Used to love them – Haven't tried the "NEW IMPROVED" Granita biscuit yet ! (Sounds pretty awful.) Has it become a gluten free included product....and have they become smaller? Loved the ones with chocolate on one side.
Arnotts are a failing to listen to coustmers – Thin and crumbling Granita biscuit stopped purchasing them long ago and now the same with the Shredded Wheat. Such a shame after being a 40 year plus coustmer. Walk straight past Arnotts products now. The company does not listen to feedback. Probably explaines why the product is always on special. Us the coustmers have stopped buying them. Fish rots at the head and the head has been smelly for some time.
Rubbish – Haven't had these for decades. Was my favourite biscuit and my wife's too. Wow...they are now so small and thin and crumbly and taste horrible. Classic downsizing by corporations so the unit price and profit goes up. No wonder Woolies had them at half price!
Yuck, yuck, yuck – I hadn't bought Granita biscuits in ages. These were so awful I assumed they must be out of date. Nope in date, just awful. Why change a good thing? Please return to the original recipe.
Why change? – Bought packet of Granitas, the only biscuit my husband and I eat with our cuppa. Have done so for years. Sadly the biscuit was thin and crumbly with extra holes and a changed recipe. Can’t understand why Arnott’s would change a proven winner.
Never again – I guess it’s a fundamental marketing principle- if you want to get people to buy crap keep the packaging the same snd shrink the contents snd remove the taste for maximum profit. Problem is I don’t be buying these old favourites again it’s like eating discs of straw
Granita biscuits fail – I haven't had Arnotts Granita biscuits for ages. The packet I recently bought is absolute rubbish. The packet trys to convince us it is original. It's nothing like original. Size is smaller, texture and taste are wrong.
Why change – Why change the original recipe? I loved the old granita biscuits, I used to always use them under a cheese cake recipe and it was always crunchie, now it’s soggy, texture is totally different, will now buy cheaper brands
So disappointing – These have been my favourite biscuits for the past 65 years, but I won’t be buying them again. They are hard and tasteless. What has Arnott’s done with the original recipe?
these are my favourite biscuits – Im a big fan of digestives and to me this has the best texture of them all. I'm not sure how to explain it but its very light and crumbly while also being wholesome. Very similar to a graham cracker i think. Show reply
Awful – I'm not sure what the motivation was that compelled Arnotts to change the recipe but Granitas are now disgusting. The taste, texture, and sweetness are all wrong. Congratulations on completely ruining an iconic biscuit. Yuck!
I thought it was just me – I bought a packet of Granita biscuits last week expecting to relive childhood memories. Tonight I am seriously contemplating throwing the rest in the bin. I can appreciate that they are smaller in size but the taste is not as I remember them. Did they put the wrong biscuit in the wrapper? They taste like the Arnott's Shredded Wheatmeal plain… Read more
biscuits, which I don't like. Also the word "Granita" is missing from the biscuit. I won't be buying these again.
Total devastation Arnott – I cannot believe what you have done to our childhood biscuit, the one everyone loved and it was always a constant in our home. No longer and to think this would be done arbitrarily is beyond me. And loyal fans don’t bother to replace Granita biscuits with McVities’ Digestives as they too have been ruined. Flavour completely removed, just like Granita. I will no longer be buying either.
What happened to my childhood Granita? – I bought some Granitas the other day with the memory of that beautiful, not sweet, crumbly bikkie I had when I was a child. I am devastated! What has happened? They are smaller in size (I guess that is to be expected because its a money saver). It is a different texture AND a different flavour - way sweeter than I remember. Nooooooo Arnotts - bad move. So sad :(
It's a completely different biscuit – Different texture a lot thinner and tastes sweeter. Its just another overly sweet biscuit now. Previous recepie was a lot better. Unfortunately I will not purchase them any more. Big mistake from Arnotts as I wiped the rest of their biscuits off the shopping list a long time ago. Now a brand I will walk past everytime I shop. .
Arnotts Granita Biscuits – Clearly I am not a high volume consumer based on some off the dates of these reviews, how ever, Having said that, obviously the company doesn’t listen to its more frequent loyal customers either. What a let down after being a very loyal user years ago, I return to find an old favourite down sized (probably to allow a price point with the 2 major… Read more
dominant supermarkets in this. Country). Not only down sized, but now I have noticed a really oily - not buttery after taste , probably palm oil . I will return to Mcvitties digestives - not owned by Australia, I will be happier, the chain stores will be happier - higher. Cost, higher margin.
Seriously Arnotts ‘grow some , stand up to the dominance And arrogance of the two majors, if you need to reduce the pack size further to meet the stranglehold then just put less in a pack”good recipe’ and charge the same. Don’t diminish your offer of quality and heritage - don't be bullied.
Ps still have the horrible after taste, even after a black coffee? Seriously.
Another dissapointment from Arnotts – Smaller. Thinner and not the same biscuit that we have enjoyed for many years. The substitute Palm oil is the culprit I presume. It adds nothing but cost savings to the company and diminishes the original flavor not to mention the environmental damage to land and forests. (Land clearing for so called sustainable crops is not acceptable.) Will… Read more
have to buy the competitor . One good thing is that it encourages one to make ones own biscuits. Anita
Granita Buscuits no longer nice and Zero rating – My husband has been saying for about a month or 2 that something tastes different and no nice. Now I see he is not on his own so we will no longer be buying Granita biscuits.
Horrible – What did you do to my favourite biscuit? I’m bringing them back to the store for a refund. They are just not as nice. I most definitely won’t buy again
What a shame – At first you doubt your senses. So I put my question about Granita biscuits to the internet and discovered I wasn't alone. I used to seek out Granita biscuits but not anymore.
Why have Granita biscuits changed? – Bought 2 packs of Granita biscuits to make cheesecake bases....some for a cuppa too. They are skinny and different. Not same texture...close but not the same. So disappointed. Why did they change something so good.
Granitas are miserable! – I was shocked to see the size of the Granita biscuits. Small and thin. Cannot make a decent Hedgehog slice. Not the same at all. Just miserable, and did not taste the same as the original.
They're not bad – Was never a consumer of them in the past but had a few while making a cheesecake just recently; they probably won't hit the spot if you're a severe sugar or sweet taste addict, but they're better than a kick in the head if you've been good for a while.
So disappointed – I recently bought two packets of Granita biscuits in a Scotts Head supermarket. I have loved these biscuits for longer than I can remember. On opening the packet I noticed that they are smaller and thinner than anything I have bought before. But the biggest disappointment was the taste. They faintly resemble the taste and texture of the old… Read more
Granitas but thats it. They are not even worthy of being called Granitas. I will never buy them again. What a pity companies do this. So sad really and you have lost a customer of decades standing.
A sad loss! – Sad demise of original granita biscuit. Have eaten for decades, as a child eating joined together buttered when hungry after school. For Cheesecake crust but no more. Unhappy re palm oil no matter how sustainably grown. The damage wrought deforestation wise enormous.
Granita gone gone gone – I must have been buying old Granita stock until this year, new stock big disappointment, nothing like original no name printed, second rate, cheap looking, cheap tasting, thin and never again in my cupboard for my grandchildren, it was the healthiest biscuit I would offer on their visits, I'm really annoyed at Arnotts.
Disappointed – Read most reviews on the Granita biscuit. Bought some to make cheese cake. And could not work out what was different about the biscuits. Then noticed more when I felt like having a few of them with a coffee. They are not the same. I thought it was just me getting old until I read the reviews. They are thinner and not the same recipe. And… Read more
the worst part is the biscuit does not have Granita printed on them! I won't be buying these again. I would rather make my own biscuit recipe for a cheesecake. It might take longer and I might have to make sure I have right ingredients in the pantry to make a biscuit base for a cheesecake. I am also thinking of contacting Arnotts for a whinge too!?
