A Reliable Brush Cutter/Whipper Snipper. Comfortable To Use & Easy Start Every Time – This is a great brushcutter/whipper snipper. I've had it just over 3yrs. My last Stihl whipper snipper was 21yrs old but wanted the harness & bike… Read more
handles for ease of use, it's so comfortable to use & I can cut all day if required. It only takes a few minutes to setup the handle bars & harness to get the right balance point & cutting angle to suit your height. The start function is effortless & still reliable. I got lazy & stopped mixing my own fuel & now just keep some 1L cans of motomix which ensures correct mix & fresh fuel. When the cutting line in the original head ran out I removed it & put on a Champ Jnr 2 from AlexBrushcutterHeads. The original Stihl cutting line & head work fine, I just prefer the 3rd party head & left the old Champ Jnr 2 on the old Stihl model when I gave it away. My son has used the FS94 C-E with the Stihl brush knife I'd purchased later "just in case" for a couple of weekends cutting thicker scrub on a friends property & it didn't miss a beat. He just had to keep adding fuel.

the while practising your swearing, this is the line trimmer for you. The tap and release feature has NEVER worked so the line constantly disappears inside, resulting in you having to take it apart and re-feed the line several times while trying to work on the garden. start then stop, they said it was my old mixture, ( which is incorrect as I made in fresh) and charged for the service. Then with their mixture, after a month had the same problems, this time they fixed it and it know works and they did not charge the second time. However when I use Home made mixture , even using Stihl HP ultra, it stop working, even though I use purpose bought petrol syringes for accuracy. However, if I just use ready mixed motor mix, Stihl approved, it works all the time. I find this a rip off, never buying a Stihl again.

for domestic purposes only. The local dealer's quote to repair it was excessive and I decided not to accept it. My next available option was to place this machine where it belongs: at local council's rubbish disposal centre. Another machine that I bought from Stihl (battery operated lawn mower) also failed in its fourth year of life - I will never buy anything made by this, once very reputable German manufacturer...!

is under powered and can only use the lightest trim cord, it constantly breaks the trim cord inside the reel so you will need to take it apart several times each time you trim. I only purchased it because I needed an extra battery for my leaf blower and Stihl was running a sale for the FSA 57 and battery so I actually got the trimmer for about $25. I still overpaid for it. Do yourself a huge favor and stay away from this trimmer.

better harness, and because of the poor harness you find yourself holding the weight more with your arm which has caused some vibration soreness/sensitivity in my arm from long periods of use. PROs - Ballsy little engine, starts easy, good size fuel tank. You will be doing well to not need a short break before the fuel runs out (unlike these battery units). CONs - Harness is poor quality, shaft is shorter than the Makita and this makes it less comfortable to use, I would say high vibration transmission through to the handle (not helped by the poor harness). Have only used it a few times but it has been clearing some heavy weeds and reeds and had a couple of big sessions. Will update if it fails prematurely. I would hope to get a good 5+ years out of it given the price and my limited use.

motor seems to weak to me, as it does not feel there is much torque in it. I'm going to try it on buffalo soon, and it does not feel it is going cope, it seems to only just do my kikuyu edge. The so called safety start is a pain in the wrist- You slide a lever forward than hold another down whilst operating the trigger.. as soon as you let go the trigger you need to go through the procedure again. I've already taped it up. The brackets that hold the handle onto the pole did not fit into plastic handle. I had to grind one of them. Also the bolts came with a flat washer not a nylock or a locking washer. Basic, to prevent it coming loose. Lastly ergonomics of the straight pole are out of balance. and there is no shoulder strap accessory.

due to constantly losing the line feed due to the unreliable 'bump' mechanism so bought a replacement 'unbreakable' head that had good reviews. Unfortunately the design of my FSE 52 doesn't allow the head to be removed. According to the manual, some FSE 52s have a separate fanwheel and the head is replaceable. Other types, like mine, have an all in one fanwheel/head that can't be removed. Wish the dealer had mentioned this...

Stilh dealer and two weeks later, told ready to pick up. The lady behind the counter told me it had a faulty carburettor and that a welsh plug came loose. ((news to me, a welsh plug, pull the other leg.)) I was then told that there was a faulty batch of carburettors and that they had two new ones arrive in the post three days earlier and they were both faulty. Here's the good part! I was then told that the Stilh Rep told them that from now on the carburettors on the brush cutters now only have a 6 month warranty. I purchased it with a two year warranty. Since the product is so poorly made I am sure I will be contacting fair trading soon. Obviously it is not made in USA or Germany, it must be Chinese rubbish to make such a statement.
