Returns” is laughable - every interaction I had with them was a hassle. I received my Cool Cabanas with a defect in the material on the roof section. This was immediately noticeable when we pulled the Cabana out of the bag. I contacted the Warranty Team to discuss my options, and as the conversation went on Will started to imply that this defect was secondary to misuse. I would be required to pay for return shipping and was told that if they deemed it misuse (which he said was likely, I would be required to pay for the cost of repairs and return shipping.) All an expense I couldn’t currently incur. I am an honest person who purchased a brand new product and this product did not arrive in ‘as new’ condition. I believe the company should have a better quality control process, more personable staff on their customer service team, and have a better returns policy that believes customers when their product does not arrive in ‘as new’ condition.

jam padlock/nut+bolts. My spacesaver shed has two doors. There should be a total of three padlocks. Two for upper and lower door jam locations and the third one on the exterior to actual lock the doors. I called the 'missing parts' phone number - someone from overseas (I can imagine) who needed me to spell my name about 6 times for an email address and explained so clearly what was missing and needed. I had to go through parts #s, etc. He emailed me to confirm in writing. I did so, ever so clearly. The request went through to the QLD factory and I was told the parts would be sent straight away from there by the one same point of contact. Of course, only ONE padlock arrived. I still need another sent to me!! I've been operating with no lockable security on my shed since install and that's why I bought it. To keep things secure on a job site... I wish people took more care to read what is truly required and action the solution effectively on a case-by-case approach. I'm trying to imagine how many other sheds are missing the same or other parts. Great shed, but I need it locked, man!

This company is an absolute scam stay clear by all means. Ordered a cat enclosure from them. Upon opening and putting the product together I have had… Read more

issue after issue. Product pieces damaged and continuing to damage while trying to put together, wood not explained properly on website so it’s not even a sturdy wood and is a cheap flimsy wood that literally just breaks and chips apart continuously, latches not even meeting properly, doors not shutting properly, windows scratched, doesn’t sit properly and wobbles even after putting sturdy bricks the whole way underneath to keep it stable, nothing connects properly, measurements incorrect, product supposed to be painted with something to protect it (they don’t tell you what) and it definitely is not, my partner is a painter and it definitely does not have anything on the wood. Got in contact with the company with photos proof and they tried to tell me I was wrong and said it is ‘within their accepted quality standards’. Please explain to me how a damaged product that doesn’t even close properly nor stand properly and isn’t as explained on the website, is quality standards? They then proceeded to tell me I could return it but I’d have to pay shipping, mind you the product was over $1000 and shipping originally to get it here was $333. This company is absolutely disgusting and not only are the products horrible, the customer service isn’t any better, offered no help to rectify the damaged products or offer a refund of any kind. And not to mention they gave me a free cat scratcher, which not surprisingly has completely broken within 3 days of use, no wonder why it was free. Stay away from this company if you’re wanting a safe outdoor enclosure for your cats, because these aren’t even safe enough to protect your cats in and you will end up having to throw it away and pay money to buy from somewhere else.

to break, despite the gazebo being fully erected and properly pegged down.

The side clips that secure the canopy are completely ineffective and provided no real stability. This product should absolutely not be marketed as heavy duty. It is not even suitable for normal camping conditions where wind is expected.

The failure left us without shade on a camping trip, which significantly impacted our setup and comfort. A shelter product should be able to withstand basic outdoor conditions. This one could not.

For the price and the way it is promoted, this was a very poor outcome. We would not recommend this product

Cheap price and quality – My $217 awing actually cost me a little over $250 (14mm masonry bit plus additional fasteners and other bolts) and instead of giving me shade in the… Read more

backyard, it’s sitting around the side of the house where my “I’ll do something with one day” projects live.

After reading multiple mixed reviews I went and bought a manual 4x3m Instahut Retractable Arm Awning. Out of the box it appeared quite flimsy, but I got excited at how easy it was to assemble given the instructions are pictures with precious few meaningful words. The only assembly problem I had was that the screws they supplied to attach the end brackets to the roller were considerably longer than the pre drilled and threaded holes allowed. Everything after assembly was disappointing. To mount it to my brisk wall I used the instructed 14mm masonry bit, but that was too big for the supplied dyna (style) bolts, and they pulled out of the wall as soon as weight was applied. After a trip or 2 to Bunnings I secured the awning to the wall only to find the retractable arms sagging ridiculously low when fully retracted, and a drop of about 60cm at 2.5m extension. I tried to adjust the sag in the arms but the instructions offered no adjustment guidance and nothing I tried seemed to work, so I gave up, took it off the wall and put in my projects pile.

To be fair, I was expecting the awning to drop as it expanded. But 60cm over 2.5 meter is much more than I’d expected. The instructions do identify this drop, but it’s a bit too late after you’ve bought it. I’m 6’2 and I mounted mine at 2.5m high (as high as I could) and was hitting my head on the retractable arms.

I was also a little naive to think it would come with quality fasteners, and good or even complete instructions.

You want the know if cheap price = cheap quality? My experience for the Instahut Retractable Arm Awning is YES it is cheap in all regards. It’s built to a price and it definitely shows. If you want a quality this is not for you.

Some tips if you do buy this: 1) DO NOT mount any lower than 3m or your tall friends will be uncomfortable (and maybe in pain). 2) Throw away the crappy supplied anchor bolts and get something quality from the start. 3) Parts are not always labelled correctly or clearly, but the instructions do show clear pictures. 4) When the right bolt doesn’t fit in the right hole, don’t force it. Buying the bolt that does fit is a lot easier than having to retap the hole. 5) Take the time to thread all nuts and bolts before actual assembly. The parts have treads painted over. The lock nuts on the front of the retractable arms are particularly tight. 6) It picks up the breeze remarkably well and has quite a bit of vertical movement in the arms. Refer to point 1, if you have tall friends they WILL get hit in the head if you mount it too low and it WILL hurt.

Went back to Bunnings who referred me to the company. Sent them pictures who said it was wind damage and suggested I purchase the piece of plastic join for $125 and fix it myself as warranty didn’t cover wind damage. Bunnings then sent me a quote to buy a new one and have it installed! You can see by the pictures these umbrella's are made with cheap plastic connectors. The truth is the warranty don’t cover anything because they will always blame the wind. One has to question what they mean by 'wind' because most days we have wind which then eliminates any claim! Consumer Affairs needs to be investigating this shonky practice. I will be making a claim.
